Why is there no video ( or ANY other) card in that AmigaOne ??
To me, thats NOT a good sign.

Probably because they showed videocards to and fro between the machines the entire day. The motherboard definately took all kinds of cards and was fully functional.
It doesn't say here, but PPCBoot was completed and announced on the show (made by Hyperion). The betatesters tried this new ROM in their AONEs for the first time and I saw a ATI Radeon start screen (Ole-Egil didn't have time to get Linux on it in the short time availiable).

... and GNOME.
Ain't it great to see the tangible progress of AmigaOS on shows like this?
:-P

Nope, no Linux yet on ppcboot. But we did fire up the XE with my Debian installation (it had a Softex rom, so it booted on first attempt ;-) )
So my Debian has actually run on a 750FX in a socket.

In reply to Comment 3 (SlimJim):
Oh, and btw. Not only is ppcboot _by_ Hyperion, but MAI Logic actually _paid_ for the development, as I understand it.
Some guy took pictures of my A1 with ppcboot running the ATI bios of one of my cards. It was really cool to see the dreaded ATI logo spin in the upper left corner at the same speed as in an x86 :-)
That x86 emulator Hyperion retro-fitted to ppcboo(s? ;-) )t is REALLY neat.
Not many ppc computers can run as many cool graphics cards as the AmigaOne :-)
Now we only need to get the boards out to the public and get people to stop making x86 only drivers for Linux (usually a ppc driver wouldn't work because the card wouldn't be initialized, but now it can :-) )

Right. Cool thing about the PPCBoot. I missed your presentation at the show. Are you saying that one might take x86 linux-drives and use for Linux PPC? Do you know any other features of PPCBoot off the top of your head?
Nice meeting you by the way. Surprisingly many people there I must say. I'm working on beating you in the beard department (a long way to go still ;-)

AOne-XE seems like a really sweet piece of machinery. I wasn't tempted before, but I am now.
