The SUBWAY poll has been finished. Due to the relatively high number of users who want to see the SUBWAY on the market, E3B will (together with KDH Datentechnik) produce a small series of SUBWAY modules. We will operate hardly on the economical edge, but don't want to see the A1200 users to miss out. The scope of supply is expected to stay the same. A delivery date is not fixed yet and will be announced as soon as all material for production is available (which is not easy for small series production).Distribution will - as before - be done over KDH Datentechnik and its distributors. Due to the small number of modules produced pricing might slightly vary; we will try anyhow to absorb fluctuations. E3B wants to say Thank You to all of you who contributed in an objective way in the poll and who support us in developping innovative Classic Amiga hardware !

I hope there's a way to use it feasably in the A1200 desktop, as it will increase the number of users.

Yeah, I bet there's at least 5 people out there with a desktop A1200 who absolutely cannot live without usb. ;-)

In reply to Comment 2 (Ole-Egil):
That cannot live without it I don't know, but that it would raise the number of users it would, even if just people that would towerise their systems after.

In reply to Comment 3 (José):
Yeah, but you would have different versions of the cables at least for towerized and desktop systems. So towerizing after purchase of a subway would mean buying more stuff ;-)
But I do agree, I just think there won't be that many who buy this anyway. Personally I am leaning towards the Spider, now that my Voodoo3 is ready to be moved back into the Mediator (my A1 has finally been upgraded to Radeon ;-) )

...erm, if you have a DESKTOP A1200 theres *EVEN MORE NEED* to have
USB.
if you've got a tower, then you've got space for IDE disks, CDROMs etc
all neatly cablied up...and even SCSI and exotice other bits.
if you've got only a desktop, then you need proper external devices.
external IDE devices, for example, are either parallel port (slow, not many,if
any work with AmigaOS) or USB. they'll be able to use USB.
then same for all the nice digital add-ons.
just because someone has a desktop...doesnt mean they arent hardcore Amiga
users...i know of people with PPC's in A1200 desktops. they dont want
hulking, noisy towers. they want a clean tight 'Amiga solution'
USB is the serious/best way forward.
