quick make mirrors....the football kids daddies will flood that server down
to its knees... :)
At these photos i saw a ImageFX window, so i guess the Betatester(tm) learned
from the last show, to install the amiga software properly before going to a show..
Would be nice to see another MUI theme too....mos is skinnable ?

1) It wasn't HIS HD, to install ImageFX on... It was sent to him.
2) Yes, MorphOS is skinnable for quite a long time.

I have to hand it to them... Mos is looking good :)
I just hope they will be getting enough developers as content and amount of it is what makes an os succesful.

Some people may have been interested in the AmigaOne and not in the Pegasos.
It is their choice. If i could I would have attended to the 2 days to make my mind.
Unfortunately I guess that the some of the same people who went to only one show are the one that flame the other product.

Well, I attended only the first day, but actually to me the Pegasos
and MorphOS looks much more competent a duo of products than the other option
(for all that I don´t really see much of a future for any one of them),
so I guess I´d be something of an inverted flamer. ;)
I would have loved to see them both, but as far as I understand,
somebody didn´t like somebody and thus the two shows were thrown a night
apart. I am quite confident that I am not the only one who basically couldn´t
afford two days of travelling to amiga mini-expos . :7

For most "Amiga"-users the need is not "a computer that does stuff". If one needs that, one has that. The need is "a computer that reminds me of the cool times with the Amiga" and for me Morgasos doesnt fit that need.

(you spelt MorphOS quite wrong btw..)
So I guess A1+OS4 is also not "a computer that reminds me of the cool times with the Amiga", because it is basically the same as the Pegasos+Morphos (although quite inferior from what i have seen until now).
The big difference between A1 and Pegasos is basically that the A1 is being engineered and desigend by people that have nothing in common with Amiga (no, Eyetech just orders the board from them), whereas the Pegasos is fully engeneered and designed by people who were once employed the last innovative Amiga hardware manufacturer.
I think the last points stays so much above everything which renders all past and future discussions rather pointless. But as it obvious, there are too many blind or mislead people out there to fully get this fact established among them.

In reply to Comment 22 (anon):
I'm definitely biased in favour of the Pegasos, for several reasons
(size, my impression of the engineering, features) but I think you're
not being fair to the A1. Now that the CPU is replaceable, I don't
think it's a bad job. It's not as good as the Pegasos in my opinion,
but if the Pegasos didn't exist and there was an existing OS for the
A1 that I was interested in, I'm sure I would buy an A1.
In fact, I don't rule out that I might buy one, if there ever will
exist an OS for it that I'm interested in. Not before then though,
that's for sure.

So which one is it .. are the 2 hardware designs similar or are they not? (They are.)
Is the MorphOS closer to AmigaOS < 4 than OS 4 or not? (It cannot be.)

AmigaOS4 is "based" on OS 3.1 sources not in the way most people think.
They didn't recompile the sources, they rewrite most parts to remove the
custom chip dependency. The MOS team did the same, but they didn't have
the sources as a reference, just books, autodocs etc, while they took the
rest from the AROS project.

1) The gui looks awesome - well done, guys!
2) Could someone please translate the pamplet from dansk? I take it that the stuff in it is important, but aside from references to DNA splicing ("Genom en modular") and Japanese cartoons ("Med manga standardinderface") I haven't got a clue what they're saying ;)
3) "today is a gift - that's why they call it the present" - who the @#$& came up with that? Oprah?

Does anyone have better screengrabs of the gui or of other skins?
I wish I could have been there too, but my schedule is too tight for non-US shows. Maybe later this year..I still have to take a few people in DE put to a pub for missing the last couple shows that I was supposed to attend.

Heh and the funniest part of this fighting over expression of others is that it once was part of amiga community slagging pc's and pc folk slagging at amiga. The only difference now is that as pc's are so much more ahead of amiga technology, amigans have only themselves to slag at over opinions of what an amiga is and why.
Way to go amiga. I seriously feel that a lot of this could have been avoided if amino hadn't been such a pigheaded carage company acting like an it giant. But that's another opinion and an other story.

Yes, * when * OS4 is out... but OS4 will be out in... 2 years, and perhaps never ! (the delate of OS4 is really a catastroph and a joke, like Hyperion), when everybody will be already on Pegasos/MorphOS ! (except some integrists from ANN of course ;)
> Btw, the AOne event had 150+ visitors.
At Alchimie2/A-Expo in Tain l'Hermitage/France the 7 & 8th September, it was exactly the reverse situation : Alan Redhouse was alone on its stand with its 2 poor AmigaOne, and everybody (165 persons) was interested on the 10 great Pegasos/MorphOS supported by all the Thendic-France & bPlan Teams (more than 15 persons, with Bill Buck, Raquel Velasco, Thierry Velasco, Gerald Carda, David Gerber,...).
Alan Redhouse was so ridiculous that he left the meeting and went back home after the Saturday afternoon and never went back Sunday as he should do and as he promised to everybody... (I believed Alan Redhouse more fairplay...).
So, now, who is popular guy ?... ;)

Please don't say such things about Alan Redhouse, they are simply not fair. Alan has tried to do his best to make the Amiga back in a decent form, he has risk his time and his money, and a lot of effort in the way. If the AmigaONE is not finished yet is more the fault of some third parties (like the shameful company that Amiga inc has become and some others too) Talking to MOS people is simply the way to get a backup plan if AmigaOS4 is not released or it is not the great success that everybody seems to see so clearly here even when it is not able even to simply boot.
Don't blame anyone for looking after his hard work. Alan doesn't deserve that.

I really agree that there's absolutely NO reason to badmouth mr
Redhouse or his product. You've done a better board yourself? If not,
don't belittle his effort. Yes, I happen to think he only has the
second best product at this moment, but that's not to say it's
"ridiculous".
Now I'm one of those people who keep seeing problems with AOS4, but
those problems can hardly be blamed on mr Redhouse.

Yes, that's true, I agree with you.
In fact, Alan Redhouse does well its work in the AmigaOne/AmigaOS4 project.
But why Mister Ben Hermans doesn't go himself to the last shows (and in September there were a lot of Shows/Meetings with AmigaOne, and Pegasos/MorphOS. At the same time or separetly. A lot of occasions to explain the project) ? For example : Alchimie2/A-Expo in Tain l'Hermitage/France was direct by express way from Belgium...
Why Ben Hermans lets Alan Redhouse alone (each time) to explain the situation and the progress of the AmigaOne/AmigaOS4 project ? He hasn't more work and less time (Ben Hermans doesn't develop OS4 himself, that's the Frieden brothers and others).
What courage. What OS project leader. That's the role of a project leader to come and to explain (and to promote). No, Ben Hermans doesn't assume its acts and its role. Except virtualy, on forums like ANN, that's certainly easier for him when he hasn't really the persons in front of him and to answer only at the questions that he want to answer...
