Some great stuff now online, and hopefully a few more cool new things in the immediate future, too (stay tuned) :)
http://www.amigau.com
We've got some cool new stuff online for you:
Site Mirrors: (http://www.amigau.com/sitearchives.htm)
- Amiga Source is now mirrored on our site, thanks Scott!
- we still maintain site mirrors of the excellent Blitz Basic, Samplitude Opus (with software downloads) and Amiga Interactive Guide sites, too.
Site Archives:
We have added two GREAT Amiga site archives from the somewhat recent past:
- National Amiga tech pages: these are full of great tech information, including pinouts, motherboard configs and lots of accelerator information - These were originally done by Greg Scott and used to be on National Amiga's website - thanks to Larry S. and Joe at Archtech in London, Ontario!
- Spock's Logical Amiga Pages: As many of you may remember, this was a great site that has been offline for some time, unfortunately due to its author, Eric Robertson, passing on last fall. Thanks to Donald Sowell for providing this data as hopefully a little memorial to Eric's fondness for the Amiga and his excellent site.
- Amiga Realm archive mirrors (12 of them) - Thanks to Paul Andrews for providing data to mirror their site archives!
Additional stuff:
303Tracker - this is a cool Roland TB303 emulator you can run on your Amiga - software downloads included - thanks to Jeroen Schellekens for his site archive and software (http://www.amigau.com/c-music/303t.htm)
Events page: We have added an easy to find Events page for upcoming Amiga events & shows, and we pledge to keep it current! :) If you have an event or show coming up anywhere in the world, let us know so we can post it immediately.
Thanks, keep on coming back and if you have additional Amiga sites for us to help you mirror or archive (to preserve them), just let us know when/how. :)

Amiga University site updates and additions : Comment 1 of 26 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Amygale on 04-Oct-2002 04:35 GMT | Where is the Pegasos/MorphOS section ? |
|
Amiga University site updates and additions : Comment 2 of 26 | ANN.lu |
Posted by john on 04-Oct-2002 06:35 GMT | In reply to Comment 1 (Amygale): Since when has there been any reason for AMIGA University to host MorphOS stuff? If YOU want something along the same lines, why not ask the MorphOS community to set one up?
All you need is 15+ years of history, a whole slew of apps, OS upgrades/revisions that have been either available for download or to buy retail, and experienced people to write reviews, tutorials, etc.
So, when do you think you'll have it up and running then?

Posted by Don Cox on 04-Oct-2002 06:38 GMT | In reply to Comment 1 (Amygale): No doubt if BPlan release any technical information about the hardware
or software (for example, circuit diagrams like the ones that were
published for the Commodore Amigas), Kevin would consider putting it
on the AU site.
In the mean time, this is one of the best ever Amiga sites for
information and resources.
It's particularly good to see the National Amiga stuff back on line. |

Posted by Amygale on 04-Oct-2002 08:00 GMT | In reply to Comment 2 (john): You forget that the Pegasos/MorphOS/bPlan teams own some of the best engineers of the Amiga technical History, who contributes to developp the best hardware (PPC & GFX cards) with softwares to safe our Amiga : Gerald Carda, Ralph Schmidt, Frank Mariak,...
Pegasos/MorphOS is really a heritage of all that. |

Posted by Amygale on 04-Oct-2002 08:09 GMT | In reply to Comment 4 (Fabio Alemagna): Ok. But : "Emulation" ? That's a strange category for MorphOS...
And where is the Pegasos section ? |
|
Amiga University site updates and additions : Comment 10 of 26 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Menthos on 04-Oct-2002 09:11 GMT | In reply to Comment 9 (Amygale): Emulation: Because it is not AmigaOS it just runs Amiga programs under AmigaOS emulation?
And why should ther be a Pegasos section when it can't run AmigaOS?

Posted by Bill on 04-Oct-2002 10:50 GMT | In reply to Comment 2 (john): Yes, it's really sad that some american dumbass(es) could simply buy your 15 years of history and a whole bunch of blind followers.
I rather follow these guys that ARE Amiga since 15 years and have all the amiga skills and spirit and of course technology under one hood doing something FOR the Amiga (no matter how stupid this is nowadays if you look at financial risks). |

Posted by kevin orme on 04-Oct-2002 13:22 GMT | In reply to Comment 7 (Anonymous): Thanks for the suggestions about MorphOS and the Pegasos (a more recent part of the MorphOS activity, to be sure). I'll try and add some stuff (incl. the referenced pages) in the next site update.
Note that there was never any effort to exclude MorphOS here, I was just working more closely on the site archive stuff lately. And when I put the original MorphOS stuff up there, there wasn't as much on the 'net at the time. Now that there is, it's worth revisiting and updating accordingly.

Ah, you mean like the AmigaOne... |

Posted by NeRP on 04-Oct-2002 19:02 GMT | Fuck MorphOS. I get sick of their lame assed supporters always
whining about how/when they are going to get support from AMIGA
sources. Fuck off already! We are no more blind than any MorphOS
user. Tell me, what makes AmigaOS supporters blind, while the MorphOS
supporters are not? AmigaOSv4 is closer to AmigaOSv3.1 than MorphOS
will be. MorphOS supporters are using an ALTERNATIVE OS, NOT
AMIGAOS! Now who is blind? Congratulations on building the Pegasos,
it's only a few years too late, and if buying an AmigaOne is blind,
then so would buying a Pegasos. Both OS'es and motherboards will
likely be done at around the same time, and honestly, buying a Pegasos
with it's unofficial support *instead* of the AmigaOne, with it's
OFFICIAL support *IS* blind. There is really nothing the Pegasos can
offer that the AmigaOne/AmigaOSv4 can not. |

Posted by Anonymous on 04-Oct-2002 19:33 GMT | In reply to Comment 14 (Jonny Johansson): No ...
AmigaOS 4 is an enhanced 3.x.
Morphos is a new os.
AmigaOS 4 has an 68k emulator.
Morphos has an Amiga emulator.
And finally AmigaOne is simply hardware, like Pegasos.
Conclusion: Morphossomething + uae |

Posted by cOrpse on 05-Oct-2002 13:03 GMT | In reply to Comment 1 (Amygale): Do you realize thats about as stupid as linux sites publishing openBSD content ( openBSD can run linux apps ;) ) ... Grow up , get a community and heritage of your own or your basically admiting you need the amiga shadow over your shoulder to exist. |

More than you could, eh billyboy?
And at least they bought it with *their* money, rather than trying to buy it with other people's like you.
Sour grapes, my lad, sour grapes.
However, chin up: the same phrase can just as easily be applied to Thendic, so there you go. Isn't that nice? You've basically called everyone in your potential market an idiot. I'm sure they'll remember when they go to write out their cheque. |

Surely Amiga Inc was set up with "venture capital" - ie borrowed
money, ie someone else's money? |

Posted by mensa on 06-Oct-2002 14:04 GMT | In reply to Comment 21 (Don Cox): Don't dignify that particular piece of trolling filth with a reply, Don. Everyone can do a nslookup on the "Bill" that the Teapot Troll replied to above, and see that this "Bill" is not the one that the Crackpot is insinuating it is. I thought you all had learned to ignore the boorish troglodyte stream of coarse insults and trolling emanating from that uneducated piehole belonging to ms. Teapot.
By the way, I believe that the company of one of the real Bill clowns, the Buck one, has immensely more money of *its own* than that of the other Bill clown, the McEwen one, has. One is a privately owned computer company, the other is a venture capitalist owned trademark licensor. |

at last the truth
i dont want a new OS i want enhanced amiga OS like many others so AmigaOS4 & the Aone will be just the ticket. |

Sure, but other people may prefer a new OS which has a clean start on new hardware. Others again will want an emulator which runs as many existing programs as possible.
Unbiased reporting of _all_ the products available will make it easier for people to buy the one that is right for them. We don`t want them leaving the Amiga altogether because they bought, for example, Amithlon and really needed UAE. |

Posted by Alkemyst on 08-Oct-2002 08:02 GMT | In reply to Comment 24 (Don Cox): but there is no reason to use & emu if you can have the real thing.
the fact that they want to run the emu at all mean that they want amigaOS & all the emus need the real amigaOS to function.
so ignoring the real AmigaOS & saying we dont need it is short sighted as some of the ppl running Amithlon are the same ppl that slagged off AmigaOS3.9 & said i will not buy AOS3.9
but guess what Aos version comes with Amithlon & you dont see them maon about AmigaOs3.9 now. with out the real AOS the emu 's are useless.
& who's to say that there may not be an emu for AmigaOs4 & up on x86 that is on par with amithlon, but once again it will need amigaOs4 to function so the Amithlon ppl [putting AmigaOs4 down would be shooting them selfs in the foot.
the ppl supporting the real amigaOs with there wallet are the ppl making it possible for the emu ppl to run newer version on the OS as the emu makers dont make the OS. |
