Ah, cool, some demos - hope the machines will work and not crash so much this year! :-) Shogo was a little quirky last year I seem to remember.

Whats your point? Just because they don't feel like dragging 16 Amigas to the show does that mean something? Anything? Or are you just trolling?

It's only a demo anyway. No-one knows when Steffen will finally decide to share this version of Quake 2 with the community in general. He's been saying "soon" since the beginning of the year. It's laughable that the Amiga community puts up with his childish antics, threatening people for "pirating" GPL'd software and saying that he'll delete the whole port unless people do what he says...

No one is 'putting up' with anything. Anyone is free to port Quake 2 themselfs if they want. Steffen is under no obigation to complete his port or share it with anyone if doesn't wish to.

*Sigh*
You try and do something positive and someone just has to bash you one
way or another. :-(
That's the problem with the Amiga community today, to much snipping
and not enough cheering when someone does something for the benefit
f all Amiga users.
How I long for yesterday.

Everyone really wants to bash Mehdi Ali, but he isn't available, so
they bash whoever is around instead.

No. The big problem with the Amiga community today is that it contains an ever increasing minority of tedious jerks who not being able to write more than a line of BASIC themselves assume that porting is easy but don't have the will, motivation or sense of irony to go and buy themselves a second hand PC for 200 Euros and f**k off for the last time.
When the community pond is as small as a foot spa the amount of people pissing in it becomes noticeable.
F**k em Mikey, you do a great job.

I wouldn't worry. That comment read like sour grapes from someone who sucks at Quake even more than Steff Murky.

Not much time for shooters these days Rose, last thing I did was run around shooting nazis on tram, whenever that came out. I was a fairly good TF eng but before that, in the distant past I played netquake on a big fat pipe in a big quiet room, back when no-one had fat pipes, and people said "r u on the server?" if you dipped below double digits. I was rarely in 2nd place, even against other LPBs.
So, as usual Ms Teapot is wrong. Stick to your area of expertise Rose, your comments in the Merlancia thread were spot on (needless to say Merlancia Inc. still hasn't paid its fines) as was your Thendic-related digging. Once you stray into technical stuff or Amiga politics you sink up to your neck.

Hey, all I'm saying is it would have been a hell of a lot more impressive if they *had* scraped ten or twenty (or thirty) Amigas together. A3000's with graphic cards, A4000's, towered a1200's in a massive LAN party, with an A4000T doing the server-side work.
That would've been impressive. This? This is not.

Well if something is not impressive enough for you, then why don't you just keep quiet? Being sarcastic doesn't help anything.
Besides I think someone porting Quake 2 to the Amiga is kinda impressive. It's a great game. It's multiplayer mode and various mods give it great longevity.

its a 'world of Amiga' show. NOT a Gaming LAN party
or launching of Quake2 event.
4 machines playing a link-up of a Quake2 port is plenty thanks!
i'd rather let a load of other Amigas show us the other
developments that have happened in AmigaOS world
in the past year - eg PCI cards, drivers, new programs
and tools, Poseidon etc etc
