The first public release of PyAROS is now available for download at http://pyaros.sourceforge.net/. PyAROS is a port of Python to AROS, based on Python 2.2.1 and the Amiga Python port (which is no longer maintained).

I thought it was already available.... or is this a much better tested and debugged version?
The V.I.C. "IS" being done in python and right now we are staying away from GUI work due to nothing really available on MS, GNU/Linux, Mac and Amiga. and I don't expect AROS to be that far along. So let me suggest maybe porting some GUI engine that is available on he other platforms.

In reply to Comment 1 (3seas):
This release is based on more or less exactly the same code that was in the AROS CVS (and thus the latest snapshot), with the difference that the Makefile has been tweaked (for example, the compiler now optimizes the code). As Python won't be included in the contrib packade in the next AROS snapshot (or recent nightly builds), I felt it was nice to make it available.
It is no longer in AROS CVS since I decided to make a proper project out of the Python port, which is nice since we can now have our own bug tracker, webpage (with documentation etc). Also, it gives a little more attention, both to PyAROS and AROS.
