As announced on the WOASE show, Microsoft will put its considerable PR machine behind PDA/cellphone content supplied by Amiga Inc and its developers Microsoft will help distribute Amiga Anywhere content.

Packs will have "AMIGA written in bold letters all over them", (well that was the consensus anyway) with royalties going right to AInc and its developer community.

This will (obviously) allow Amiga(DE) content to be a lot more widespread and to be sold at major stores.

Gain for Microsoft: Good content available on their platforms, makes them more competitive.

Gain for AmigaInc: Influx of money, PR, wider interest from other companies and a better economical base to continue on towards AOS5.

Note: Microsoft has not bought any part of AmigaInc, nor do they control any part of Amiga. Microsoft is an Amiga Anywhere distributer. That's all.

Nice! Money & free promotion for Amiga can only be a good thing.
"M$ using Amiga": To be considered a threat by M$, Amiga would have to be hugely successfull, which is exactly what we want .. strange world.

Well, did you ever consider the thought that this partner and the partner he talked about back then might be the very same partner? The negotiations has been going on for quite some time now, remember the Microsoft stand where Amiga Inc. demonstrated Amiga Anywhere content a while back?

Maybe the real question is whether or not Amiga Anywhere is to be anywhere other than MS?
I suppose this is point number 2, the first being "do you really believe MS is not capable of producing cntent for their stuff?"

Even MS knows that sometimes it's better prioritise things, and if you can partner with someone who can provide content for your platform then why not partner with those ? Both sides can benefit from that. I'm sure that Windows would not be as popular as it is, if MS would think "we can provide our own content for it so we don't need to let you develop anything for it"

News from Nokia:
"Nokia brings mobility to the Games Industry by making Rich Games Mobile"

"Nokia and Sega to take gamers to a new level of mobile interactive gaming "

Is it a competitor of AmigaDE / Intent?
Or intent/AmigaDE package for SymbianOS?
(Sega is partner of tao-group...)
(I know it is easier for me to ask from the mobile guys but ...) ;)

I *could* be wrong, but isn't Gas Powered Games an MS subcompany? Again, could be wrong.

It's not a bad thing to be working with a big company to develop
content, etc...I'm just afraid that if AmigaDE gets going,
MS is just gonna buy it up, and then cancel out the Amiga OS
projects...
p.S. -aren't there any people who could program the old Amiga
OS that could mimic the old Amiga exactly on a new chip/chipset,
so we could have our draggable screens, and be genlock/chromakey
able, ? So then I could use all my old programs, or they
could be updated, and still be able to use any new stuff out
there...I would only buy something that is brilliant, y'know
small OS footprint, perfect multitasking, highend graphics/sound,
etc....
It would seem that it could be done, so maybe it will be when
G5's are running at 2 GHz and P5's are running at 3Ghz,
When you think about it, computers will get so fast, you will be
able to run current MAC, PC, Amigas, Sun/Solaris etc at
one time....so I think it could happen...
Amigas take on it, is that they didn't want to be tied down to
a particular chip/chipset/OS...
Right now, I will be happy with a afunctioning AmigaOS 4,, that
allows me torun my old apps...and even if Commodore never
went belly-up, I still would have to had considered to a different
system when Hombre or whatever they were cooking up, came in,
so the current options aren't that different anyway...

In the same sense that Mac Office is made "internally" by Microsoft, yes. They buy small companies and convert them into a Microsoft sub-unit with independence so long as that suits the purposes of the board. So we're talking about game developers who weren't hired by Microsoft but do work for them.
Microsoft doesn't need a space invaders game for its phones. It could knock one of those off very cheaply but it wouldn't achieve its goal. It needs the perception that PDA software should be written for WinCE, the same way desktop software is written for Windows. Amiga are just one of hundreds of companies tasting the sugar water in Microsoft's fly trap.
In phase I, Microsoft needed hardware manufacturers to choose WinCE, so it made WinCE available for all types of platform. NT Alpha users will be familiar with this ploy because what happened next? Microsoft discontinued support for all but one platform. Manufacturers had to fall into line quickly or lose customers. Microsoft took the upper hand.
In phase II Microsoft needs software suppliers to choose WinCE. It doesn't matter which suppliers, and Amiga Inc. is just as good as any other name that people vaguely recognise. Once most software is for WinCE and the competition are struggling, Microsoft can once again close the trap by "encouraging" developers to use non-portable language and interface choices, then disabling the old ones.
Yup, that's exactly the opposite of AInc's stated goal, but that's Microsoft for you. They'll ride any bus, no matter the stated destination so long as it brings them closer to their goal of total domination. Once AInc is of no further use Microsoft will steal any technology they have and poach any decent employees, then either sue them or just leave them to rot.
You'll probably see at least one "update" or speech from McEwen in which he suggests that he's outsmarted Microsoft, and at that point you can guarantee he's unknowingly done exactly what they want.

Definately not.
There are only 2 choices really - use MS or dont. The latter ensures you'll never grow to any profitable size. The other gives the possibilty for fast growth and the danger that goes along with it.
However, AmigaDE is not tied to WinCE ... rewrite the abstraction layers and everything works on a different platform.
