Apparently Hyperion were hoping to have demoed OS4 at the WOA show in England, but missed the deadline by a few days. It should be booting on A1 by the time the Ottawa show occurs.

On a Cyberstorm PPC, not an AmigaOne.
Before the full OS 4 can run on the AmigaOne, the chipset banging devices such as timer, serial, parallel, IDE must be rewritten/developed.
This work is going on now.

Yeeaah. Get back to us when you actually understand the issues being discussed. Obviously Amiga's announcements are going way over your head.

I hope it will be possible to copy a file to ser: or par: on the
AmigaOne.
You can't do this on Amithlon (except by port remapping) and this is a
nuisance as it stops you sending a Postscript file straight to the
printer.

Hi, please use some better wording when talking to people. Right now we are going a good way getting new Hard- and Software. No matter if it's AmigaONE/AmigaOS or Pegasos/MorphOS. I would like to see people working together instead fighting each other. You want to be respected and tolerated with your opinion so let others too. Everyone has a different opinion and understanding. One is quicker understanding technical facts and the other is not. If you want to be respected then please respect others. A bit more respect to interpersonal communication please.

Amiga Inc don't have anything to do with AmigaOS.

Well Ole warned me that something good might happen after WOASE and it seems
like he was right. Theres a buzz, theres cooperation in tackling the trolls
and Ambient has had a public outing and works (after a fashion) and AOS4 exec
has been launched by PPCBoot on an AmigaONE.
@Ben
Bit disheartened by the scope of the work that you outline in front of you, thats
a few months at least. Couldn't that have been written concurrently?

I disagree. Amiga Inc. have everything to do with AmigaOS. They may not be doing any of the actual work but their name is on it and they will likely be collecting money for each unit sold. I expect a high level of quality from anything with the Amiga name on it. They can delegate the work, etc. but they are still responsible for the product as far as I'm concerned.

In reply to Comment 19 (ssolie):
Ehm, they are only responsible for the name, they don't even own the OS4
sources...
And about hight quality on every Amiga branded product... That's just
stupid, the SDK and the AmigaDE player were crap and yet had the Amiga name
on them.
Furthermore my Amiga branded mouse is CRAP as well....
See?
It's up to Hyperion if the product will be good or bad. I hope it will be good,
having 2 good competiting products will drive the development speed up.

Assuming, of course that there IS indeed an alternative to OS4. Nuff said.
