Wow, people wondered what was going on, and the company actually answered. Novel concept. Kudos!
Glad to hear everythings ok!

Yes, shocking isn't it? Now if only the Promo Kid and his cheerleaders would
have the same savvy when facing the same level of vicious attacks that Ryan has.
@all
Yes Im aware that Ryan hasnt delivered on a few promises but then to be fair
he was basing his work on that of two ( Promo Kid Inc and Eyetech ) dependencies
that for one reason or another failed to deliver.

Dave? I just reread that thread and I don't see anything too far gone? Maybe it's been edited?

I don't know what makes people clowns if they've had bad service at merlancia...
I personally have never been in touch with merlancia or ryan, but to me it seemed that thread had a lot of people speaking out of personal experience and if what they say is true, then anyone can draw their own conclusions.
reading that thread just strenghened my impression of the company being just another "boxer" shop.

Hello Red! :-) As you see popping back after the excitement generated at WOASE
reached even my ears.
No not too far gone, I guess my point wasnt clear. I was explaining that
whilst the MMC and MCC stuff might not be Merlancias fault you then read a
thread on Amiga.org ( which incidently I read because I had just finished
on this thread ) which are a whole bunch of scare stories which make you
think again.
I guess the only sure think in this world is that it is dangerous to
ever form an opinion. :)

Thats a funny yet brilliant jest you made there Tim!
(Bravo - Short posts _really_ are your best!)
In the spirit of showing oneanothers reality...
See Merlancia's World Corporate Headquarters!
http://www.realpix.com/merlancia.html
"Got Office?" (photographed Nov 4 2002)
Naturally these ~"Headquarters"~ begged for a more modern space to grow into.
Allready stocked to capacity, the "North American Merchandise" is warehoused in seperate mailing addresses! Moving all inventory into one location could quicken customer response, while needing more order. 3 cheers for a larger building!
Imagine how many pleased workers there would be with a brand new 6000' square foot air-conditioned warehouse with Segway Scooters to ride! No more lost paperwork once filing cabinets and desks are purchased to meet executive standards.
You'd think that with so much business, and inventory accumulating over the years that the warehouse managers would have to throw things in the trash. Hopefully the excess inventory can be simply liquidated to the public in order to make room. Any week now it seems...
Also planned in the future is that some corporate divisions will be spun-off and/or moved to entirely virtual space. Merlancias' historical relationship with Google.com will allow this to be a seamless transition. With a focus on Merlancia, Googles' growth will shed light on the past, and foster increased understanding of Merlancia, due its spin of intellectual property.
Please see "Official press release" spun with industrial strength inuendo, spellchecked exaduration and historical ommision laced with an expanding fantasy of its corporate achievements, for fodder info on "the company".

Just yet another reminder of the "dark side" of the Amiga community that has been oozing out of the cracks and breaks in the wall for the past 5 years. I wonder where the semi-sane people are hiding these days?

Other than selling old Amiga stuff for ridiculously jacked up prices on ebay, what have you done for "the community?"
I have bought a number of items from you in the past...
not anymore. That was uncalled for.

What? if you are replying to comment number 9, I hope you do not think that Merlancia staff posted that rubbish. What exactly is "uncalled for"?
Considering the fact that we kept Amiga, inc alive by giving them loans, and we supported the development of several Amiga software programs, some released, some yet-to-be released, and spent hundreds of thousands on product development in the past two years, I think we are doing our part...

> What? if you are replying to comment number 9, I hope you do not think that > Merlancia staff posted that rubbish.
However, it's entirely true. The only Merlancia building was the strip-mall store featured in those pictures. If you know me, you know I'd rather break a leg than tell a lie. But you don't even need to believe me. Go to the old Merlancia address (3516A West Cactus Road, Phoenix AZ) and see what's there.
> Considering the fact that we kept Amiga, inc alive by giving them loans
The only loan to Amiga was the deal that Skal Loret and I put together, with Amniga, Inc. while working at Merlancia. If not for us, there would have not been a deal -- and a deal it was, largely unfulfilled, because Merlancia was not even remotely serious about product development. There is no one in Merlancia with anything beyond a high-school education, and certainly no engineers.
We were not paid for our work (and still haven't been, though we did stike a deal with Merlancia that may, ultimately, buy some of our silence... but time is running out).
In my experience, as an employee and supposed friend of the princpals of Merlancia, I was never told a single true thing about Merlancia. Not once. I would suggest, those of you in the general populace, shouldn't hold your breath waiting for better treatment. I don't want to re-ignite a war of words here, but I'm also not going to stand by and see more Amiga fans taken in by truely evil people.
Your pal Dave

In reply to Comment 13 (auiw):
Merlancia doesn't sell as a retail store on eBay.. those are personal sales by staff who purchased the goods en masse to sell as individuals.. this has already been explained.. how many times does it need to be explained before you'll understand it??..
Further, the last time I checked, eBay requires a credit card on file to be a registered user. Children can't have credit cards. Thus, one has to assume that except for the occasional fraudulent bidder, eBay sales are to adults who are making a conscious decision, and who do not have guns pointed at their heads, forcing them to bid on anything. If a price is set with a given minimum or a reserve, and it meets that minimum or reserve, then it sells to the high bidder, who made a decision to buy it. This is known as "supply and demand." It's not a difficult concept. Well, maybe it is, since you seem unable to understand it..
If the demand is there, and an item is scarce, then an item will sell. If there's no demand at that price level, or the product is common, and in stores at a much lower price, then it won't. If there were thousands of A1200s in stores, they'd be selling for $99.00. There aren't, so they don't.
Lastly, Merlancia, via AmigaZone, sold 100 brand new, fully registered Amiga Forever V5.0 CDs earlier this year for LESS than half retail price, including free shipping to USA residents, undercutting every other Amiga dealer in the world.. Who else has done that? Nobody..

For Harv...
the comment about selling on ebay was directed at rww@realpix.net, the author of the website designed to discredit Merlancia.
He is an ebayer, and also the one pretending to be a representative of Merlancia.
For RC...
uncalled for was building a site designed to isult Merlancia... some folks have too much time on their hands. I was trying to stand up for you, but you evidently missed that.
I honestly don't know why I did that... My emails to you have gone unanswered, as have my emails to Amiga. I had one of my assistants looking into porting some of our software to Amiga. Several of our Playstation programmers are like me, and cut their teeth on Amiga. (I still love the platform... the only reason we left it was the hardware had gotten so far behind and the PPC solutions were terribly innefficient We tried porting a title in 98, believe it or not... the biggest problem we had was that optimizing to squeeze enough performance out of the old girl took as long as writing the bloody game... then my Cyberstorm died and Phase5 went under... that didn't help). I would fund porting of a title or two, if not simultaneous release with the PS2 versions, if the companies that hold Amiga's future in their hands would get their acts together. We have a 3D military fps/strategy hybrid (think Quake meets Nobunaga's Ambition) slated for late summer release and I was hoping to see it on Amiga.
The lack of communications and cooperation has pretty well nullified any chance of that... as for MOS, I was never interested in that.
For Dave..
It is surprising to see you here, given your recent comments regarding x86 as the better path for Amiga.
If that is really you, I don't remember you being one to beat around the bush...(at least you didn't back in the old days). If you have something to say in regards to Merlancia, then say it. RC can either sue for libel if not true, or slink off into the woodwork if it is. I personally would like to know so I could scratch them off my to-call list for good.
ah well...
Time for a beer and a babe.
Going to play 18 at Dancing Rabbit tomorrow if the weather holds.
Be there or be Square.

aiuw... photo_walkthrough was not pretending to be a representative of Merlancia. He was writing a facetious, ironic, sarcastic, satirical parody of a typical Merlancia press release. Get it? HUMOR!
Unfortunately, there are far too many elements of it that are true, and in that light, it's actually rather tragic.

What e-mail addresses have you tried to contact us at?
I personally have never received any maill from you that I am aware of.
As far as the office photos: Yes, that is a Merlancia facility. Recently it has been used for a warehouse for our inventory. It may not be pretty, but the sheer amount of Amiga items, in both volume and cash value is higher than any other US firm, including several thousand sets of the AA chipset, and about 4000 Motorola 68060/50 processors. Engineering work was never fone from there...almost everyone that has done engineering work for us was contracted,l and worked elsewhere..sone in the US, some in Europe.
If you have specific questions, send me an e-mail directly. This thread is so dead, they removed the bell a month ago.
