[Rant] Public statement from AmifanANN.lu

After reading [this] thread I want to make my own Public statement. You all know that I said many things on ANN and other forums that were provocative, abusive and insulting to certain persons. I want to offer them my sincere apologies for all the things I said.

This thread on amiga.org represents the start of a new future for our beloved amiga. We should work together to rebuild the platform again and be proud of being part of this communitiy. The only way to accomplish this is to be open for alternatives. I realised that I was flaming at MorphOS without even having seen it run. So I got in touch with Thendic and I bought a Betatester II for the Pegasos and I have seen with my own eyes that MorphOS is indeed an excellent operating system. If someone told me that this is AmigaOS then I would have believed it. The Amiga future has started now and I’m part of it.
Instead of talking I will do my best to advance this platform.

Don’t get me wrong, I will try and use AmigaOS4 too when it’s done, but we should all stop fighting against eachother, get together to again and move ahead.

I would like to encourage everyone who likes to comment on this or has questions or doubts to contact me directly at h.e.kanning at hetnet.nl. (Replace ‘at’ with @)

Thanks and best regards to this community of talented people,

Harald Kanning AKA Amifan

Where were you the last 700 years? Try RC-FTPd and see if it cuts anything or isn't
able to cope with long filenames :))))

Respect to AmiFan for having the balls to stand up and say that. We
could all do with a dose of that attitude.
I also hope the equally offensive idiots who have attacked OS4 efforts
can be as magnanimous. Opinions don't have to be flames.

PS: I'm still waiting for an unbiased review of the technology under the hood.

Sweet Jesus! What's going on here?! Everyone is being nice and apologetic. Whatever will people think?!

Great to hear that your personal experiences with MorphOS have significantly improved your opinion of it. I'm hoping that MorphOS and AmigaOS4 will both have what it takes to attract and sustain sufficient users to keep them going for many versions to come. Politics aside, I haven't made my decision yet but I'm going to keep doing my best to make that decision based on the actual hw/OS combos and not the hearsay and FUD surrounding them. Although whichever box gets a good 3D app first is going to have a definite edge. I wonder what the chances are of seeing zBrush (Mac/Win) on either new system?

Yeah, pity there's no ignore and we could screen out all the emulamers and their lame "look at my PC!" and "Gimme romz!" chatter.
Believing that emulators damage what's left of the Amiga does NOT make me a diehard or a clown. C'mon, it's Amiga.org for god's sake - use an Amiga!

Christian,
Bugger! I put my foot in my mouth really hard there. I haven't been near a TV or radio today, so I was totally unaware of that tragic accident. If I had known I surely wouldn't have phrased my post that way. I'm truly sorry, and I hope that everyone here and their friends and families are fine.

Apologies? Civil conversation? Evidence of the existence of a fanatical OS supporters variation of cross-dressing?
I have come to the right place haven't I? This IS an Amiga site... no? ;-)

@KennyR
Why dont you just email all the authors who develop amiga software on amiga emulators and tell them they are emulamers and they should stop coding amiga software, Simple.
Go to http://makecd.core.de/ and tell the authors they are emulamers and must not develop any amiga software unless they invest in overpriced slow amiga hardware,
Do you even know how many developers use amiga emulators to develop software? well FYI many amiga software which you probably use was made by "Emulamers" but hell its ok when you use the software but dont like the fact amiga emulation beats the shit out of current amiga hardware and thanks to this AmigaONE joke more and more, as for one of the best amiga email clients YAM, guest what that is developed on? emulamer open source team

Even the Anonymous people suddenly come across as sane... it's flower power all
over again.
MOS and AOS side by side walking off into the sunset...?
"...And then they lived happily ever after in the best of worlds..."
It is interesting what the general mood can do to sway the tone of even the
most rigorous flamers. Perhaps we can coexist as a MOS/AOS dual community after
all.

What a funny coincidence...! :-)
Had been away since yesterday noon, so I didn't notice all this development from both sides to approach each other again, but the last thing I had done yesterday had been a comment at Amiga-News.de in which I explained basically the same:
That primarily we all are Amigans, and only in the second position OS4-, MorphOS- or Amithlon-users.
I, too, apologize for the previous verbal fights.

Way to go guys :) (or girls)
Reading such positive comments make me even more open.
As a Pegasos owner I was first kind of "anti OS4"
(fearing its existence would ruin morphOS)...
But if both can co-exist (on the same hardware if possible),
and if cooperation, sympathy etc. is omnipresent,
everythings gets brighter&easier :)
Will get OS 4 as well when it's released of course.

There. That should bring an end to this warm feely touchy sad pathetic and laughable nonsense.
