United/Lufthansa has confirmed Jeri Ellsworth's flight today. The young American has become the star of the 8-bit scene with her C-One design. She will present the Commodore One for the first time in Europe at the AMIGA + RETRO COMPUTING 2002. The new computer can be turned into nearly any home computer of the 80s, and it's reconfigurable hardware is a revolution in computer technology for home use. Unfortunately, the board will not be for sale at the fare, because the design has been improved to be even more flexible only a few days before production start. The new date for production start is now january 2nd, 2003.

This has nothing to do with current Amiga and Amiga Inc. So we aren't interested even if it has remotely something common with our beloved Amiga Inc. Please find suitable site and read these news elsewhere.

Right. Although I must say that the longer we wait and do nothing ourselves,
the harder everything gets with time. On the other hand, we'll have plenty of time to get our plan-details perfected. Meaning, ofcourse, that anyone is considering investing huge amounts of money for something with an equally huge risk. I think it all depends on wether you truly believe in your creation.
Some 3 dentists believed in the Lorraine project in the early eighties, it can
happen again.

It doesn't have to be a joke, it's not the eye-candy you can get with a systemthat counts. What does, is that it performs usefull tasks. If it has a gui, it doesnt have to be 32 bit, it doesn't need to be skinnable, it doesn't need visualprefs and related hacks and patches. This goes for the Amiga too, I'm sick and tired of loosers saying, "ooh, this LOOKS better so it must be better". That's a. nonsense and b. bullshit. What is needed is functionality
to rival the rivals, not eye-candy to rival the rivals eye-candy. Some could argue we need both, but we don't, Amiga should be low-footprint in all areas.

Why is the AmigaOne going to be more useful to you? i mean why not buy a cheap PC with amithlon? an X86 version of AmigaOS would be more useful than a version which must run on this old/slow ppc hardware. Or maybe if you could run AmigaOS4 on some MAC hardware. but this will never happen (Officially anyway).
I'll buy a CommodoreOne. I won't buy a pegasos/AmigaOne though. a big waste of money.

I don't doubt that it's a good design, and it does look impressive, but I also don't doubt that she has become the star because she is a really tasty lady doing geeky electronics. Lovely.

Or if you were on the other side of the fence during the 80's, then the Sprinter (www.peterplus.com) might be of more use!
Both are built around the same Altera PLD EP1K30QC208-3 chip.

How come she can sell this things for just $200 can believe it, what is that market for some thing like this, I mean what can you really use the Comandore One for any way?
Play C64/128 games in 10x speed, it is not fun, well may be in 2min or so it last, at level one.

Demo Coding!
The C64 scene is still very active. I still enjoy using my c64. I even dial up some C64 BBS's on it. 2400 bps rules.

And how many C64/C128 users do demo coding? Serially $200 :)
So you can use it for BBS, and you can use it for Text editing, and games,
You do not have an Web browser (lynx?), you do not have FTP support or do you?
Painting programs? Last I tested on an C64 they where not so good at all.
All of this programs need to be written if any one is to use it for any work / fun,
I like the project how ever do not se how she is going to make money of it?
PS how many C64 programs can you download in 15min on your BBS with 2400 bps
And how many C64 programs can you download on your ADSL 300kbps connection?
Serially you need to be extremely hard core to be interested in some thing like this,
In my option the C64 OS is not at all interesting or good or any thing, it’s just so basic.

MANY!!! www.c64.sk speaks for itself (its a news site similar to ann but with less bitching)
>So you can use it for BBS, and you can use it for Text editing, and games,
>You do not have an Web browser (lynx?), you do not have FTP support or do you?
>Painting programs? Last I tested on an C64 they where not so good at all.
Yes. i use it for BBS. its enjoyable. the c64 artwork on c64 BBS is very enjoyable to watch appear. the experience is relaxed.. the message boards are interesting and all callers post items to read. Its like a small community, and I enjoy it.
I do not need to browse the web on the c64, although i host a website on my c64 sometimes for a bit of fun (running lng - http://lng.sourceforge.net)
Plenty of art packages. It is very satisfying to make artwork on a c64.
>All of this programs need to be written if any one is to use it for any work / >fun,
>I like the project how ever do not se how she is going to make money of it?
money ? money ? you can have fun without making money. I have a jo, infact i run my own business.. I dont use c64 or Amigas. But for FUN i do use them.
>PS how many C64 programs can you download in 15min on your BBS with 2400 bps
>And how many C64 programs can you download on your ADSL 300kbps connection?
in 15 mins, using something like punter (c64 bbs download protocol) you can download maybe 3 full games. sure you can download more on adsl, but i feel you are missing the point.. however your idea of fun is very different from mine, so its not an issue
>Serially you need to be extremely hard core to be interested in some thing
>like this,
>In my option the C64 OS is not at all interesting or good or any thing, it’s

oh ? well.. yes its a specialist interest im sure. But your opinion is not that of everyone, and i happily accept differing opinions although i dont always agree (eh mr.tickle :D) although even mr tickle likes his c64's :))
being involved in the c64 demoscene is really good. friendly people, active development, and lots of coding. Domination 17 (One of a few good diskmags still going) just came out, and i cannot wait to transfer it to disk. lots of articles, exclusive music and more.. triffic!

Why do I want an AmigaONE? Because I want to see the continuation of the AmigaOS. I want to write apps for OS4, and I'm excited by the prospect of AmigaOS getting updated.
I know in your mind its not an Amiga without a custom chipset, but I don't care. I enjoy programming for the operating system and not even touching the chipset.
Also, I want to be able to play MP3s, and watch movies under AmigaOS without it stealing all my processor time. I want to ditch all the hacks like Visualprefs and Birdie and have a version of AmigaOS that has all that sort of functionality properly integrated.
I want an AmigaONE because I think its cool, and I don't give a shit whether you consider it a waste of money.
I know you don't understand that, but thats OK, because its not your money i'm spending, is it?

Why Get An AmigaOne:
1) It will run AmigaOS4.
2) It will run MacOS, either with MOL or (possibly) an updated iFusion.
3) It's not a PC clone.
4) You can buy whatever hardware you want for it, as long as there are
drivers for it of course (so you're not locked into whatever Apple
decides to give you).
5) It's less insane than getting a CyberstormPPC, which is still more
expensive than even the AmigaOne with G4.
6) It will annoy all those whiners who whine about not buying one.
