A general AROS point, I find AROS incredibly useful for amigaOS development in a safe environment before going back onto AmigaOS.

Hosted on Linux, safer than developing on AmigaOS even on UAE when you are playing
with Exec to the level that I have to.

In reply to Comment 2 (Peter Gordon):
Probably he's referring to the hosted version of AROS, which is basically a sand box: if the program crashes, and AROS crashes too because there's no memory protection, the system is still up and running and you don't lose all of your data: the programming act is done _outside_ AROS itself, using hosted tools, within AROS you only test your programs.

Yay. Yet another goddamn disgusting "furry" mascot. Are there really that many "furries" on this planet that rounding them all up and shooting them once and for all would be an impossible project? What does the UN security council have to say on the matter? Furries are the ball bearings of the Axis of Evil.
I'm looking forward with great anticipation to become an AROS user, even though it now will make me a subject of ridicule from the rest of the world and get me associated with mentally retarded freaks who dress up in home made and cum-stained fox suits and and get off on rubbing their crotches against people in panda suits.
It's sick I tell ya! Pardon me, gotta run. I have a date with an eel and a bathtub of KY lube.
;-)

In reply to Comment 12 (Some Farker):
Lesson 0. The more simply your logo can be reproduced, the better, so long as it remains uniquely identifiable. This is the same as designing icons.
e.g. Disney can put two semi-circles of black on a white background and people will say "Oh, the mouse, er... Disney" when asked. That's not even the official logo - yet it's so easy to reproduce anywhere, and so universally recognised.
It's possible to be creative without making it impossible for most people to use your logo/ mascot. You don't have to aim for the simple universality of some kind of cross or star, even Tux and the BSD daemon can be reproduced as tiny monochrome logos while remaining recognisable.
This AROS mascot though is destined to be indistinguishable from any other furry art though, especially if people other than EWS are asked to make new versions. In comparison each variant of the OpenBSD fugu or of Tux is clearly the same mascot, just drawn by a different artist.
And what a name. Even if "Kitty" is actually a clever name for some reason connected with AROS it would be better given to something else. As a name for an anthropomorphic cat it screams "We have no imagination".

Well whoever put that page up might want to consider writing some valid HTML before posting the pages to forums. And I don't think it's that good compared to other work I've seen from Schwartz.
As for recognisable logos, this ain't a logo but I guess it would be recognisable if you didn't mistake it for wookie-porn. Mascots don't need to be easily reproducable, unless you're sad enough to want to plaster them all over your software.

Ehum...? Why wouldn't that be valid HTML?

Ok, now I know why it's not valid HTML, however I suppose all browsers show that page up normally...
We'll fix it ASAP, tho.

This is a mascot, not a logotype! AROS allready has a logotype which is quite easy to reproduce. This mascot is more like that Linux penguin (was it Thux?).

In reply to Comment 23 (takemehomegrandma):
Tux is a mascot, but the original Tux image is a logo. The AROS logotype (I'd assumed that was just a placeholder... ugh) doesn't obey rule zero either. To have any distinguishing features at all it needs to be reproduced in color or it will look like it was drawn in MS Paint. Be Inc. made this exact same mistake (their BeOS and related logos were identifiable only when shown in color)
Still, it's all just marketing, and you'd no doubt be happy to attract as much attention as even OpenBeOS, which is currently trying to rename itself "Menlo" or "Auros" or "Firebox" or some other similar stupid thing.

Well at least she (the mascot) wasn't smuggling a 20" sausage like a lot of furry art does.

She is cute.
If I someday find her from a magazine covered with boring corporate logos, I surely will smile the next 2 hours.
If someone is "Amigaish", it's the Eric's art.

Well, the gauntlet has been thrown in, and Amiga Inc. lost the edge by not being there first. Now thay HAVE to get Eric to make one. Is this Eric's first official mascot/logo excursion? I'm sure many more will come his way. But Amiga could have been there first!!!
Amiga! Our mascot (Amy) should be clad in armour, for the fight of her life.
