The recently founded company Creative Development will presumably show a new USB card for classic Amiga computers at the AMIGA + RETRO COMPUTING show at the booth of Vesalia. "Ultrabus" has got four USB ports, and can be used in Zorro Amigas as well as on the clockport of an Amiga 1200. In Zorro mode, a flash memory with 512k capacity can hold the complete USB stack, so USB devices are available right after a cold boot. This enables booting from USB storage devices.

But this one can boot USB devices from a cold boot! How cool is that? I was kind of umming and arring about the Spider and the Highway, but this seems even better :)

Why such negative attitude.... I think it's good some people are still trying.
What I like to see would be more/better support to various USB devices.. Like Printers, Scanners, game controllers etc.. Having Mass storage devices is good but those other thingies are morre important to me.

Just like the multitude of clockport serial cards did years ago,followed by a wave of A1200 ZorroII busboards, then more recently the PCI busboards.. and now news of 2 different ColdFire accelerator projects!
Wonder what the next "wave" of hardware will be?
Oh well,it`s nice to see competition in a small market like the Amiga, it gives us something to point at to prove it`s still alive to all those MS droids, sorry I meant Windows users.

I'm not sure that's a shame - it is probably the cost for having USB-storage, that is capable of cold-booting (it seems that the whole USB-stack is included in the controllers flash-memory).

But it's in flash memory available for cold boot! that's pretty damn cool! I think it's pretty clever. It's nice to see cute stuff like this appear for the Amiga. I'm all set with my Highway and Norway, but it's nice there's a market for this stuff, and that it's available.

This card looks very interesting. As has been said, the fact that USB devices will be available from a cold boot gives it a big advantage over Highway/Subway, Thylacine or Spider. I'm looking forward to seeing it!

Wonder why they say this? I mean, if it is able to support USB 2.0 then why not support it right away instead of waiting for other cards to support it first?

The mentioned preparations for USB 2.0 Highspeed are regarding to the USB Stack itself. On Classic Amigas and their very limited buses you will surely never see a real USB2.0 controller, the lack of bandwidth doesn't justify this.

printers are already supported by Poseidon / HIGHWAY / SUBWAY from the very beginning. In fact it was the third real we wrote (after mice / keyboards).
Scanners can be supported not in general due to vendor specific protocol. Anyhow, Chris has added a rawwrap.class to allow easier programming of drivers (like for BetaScan). And Felix Schwarz has a marvelous software package for it.
Hm, gamecontrollers... they are also supported by Poseidon with the latest update, at least if HID compliant. The main problem is that most games bang the hardware directly, and if not, they wouldn't be able to understand an analogue joystick (ever played Great Giana Sisters *not* with a Competition Pro ? :))

it is difficult to choose USB card for Amiga with that but I'have got a friend of mine with a highway card : it works very well.

for a list of busboards which have been tested by us / our customers with the HIGHWAY card. The Z4 is reported to work.
You can also look on our Yahoo group, there are people which have the HIGHWAY working now in their systems; feel free to ask there if someone has already
