A native MorphOS version of Hollywood is now available. This PPC version is of course much faster than the 68k one, so many effects can now be displayed in real time at an acceptable speed (on 68k computers most of the CPU intensive effects were precalculated and displayed then to make them appear smoothly). It is already very fast on my Blizzard PPC with 200mhz so it should really fly on a Pegasos system. So you can create now cool applications, games and demonstrations even for PPC and convert them also into native PPC executables! All Hollywood CD-ROMs shipped from now, will contain the 68k and MorphOS PPC version. If you already have the first edition of the Hollywood CD-ROM you can request the MorphOS version of Hollywood from me by sending an e-mail to me. By the way, if you want your Hollywood CD-ROM before christmas, it is high time to order now.

In reply to Comment 5 (Anonymous):
1.WarpUp version isn't worth the effort (it's not a simple recompile)
2.OS4 doesn't exist.

No chance for a WOS one afaik, but an OS4 one should be available at some time.

Oh, shit, will every thread turn into this OS4 vs MOS war ?
It's no use teasing people interested in OS4 !
We'll see what will happen when OS4 is ready, but if it's good,
people, including me, morphOS user, will support it, so relax ;)
It's useless announcing OS 4 versions now : they'll be easy to do
anyway, when OS4 is ready...

This would be an ironic thread to start an AOS/MOS war in. As I see it, if one developer can put both versions on a single disk, then others can also. Perhaps there is no need for an AOS/MOS rift at all, even if the two platforms aren't 100% compatible or comparable. I hope others follow this example and that both platforms will mature without cannibalising each other...

In reply to Comment 13 (Casey R Williams):
I believe that it will be very easy to port software between those two platforms, and I believe that most new applications will be compiled to them both without any greater efforts. There will be the same applications for both systems.
I don't think that there will be a rift, or that the community will split in two and go different ways (the nagging on public forums is not a sign of a real split IMHO, its more of a ... eh ... debate! The people in the community remains gathered around the same water holes despites that, and that is a good sign). At least not for a year (some years) or so, when the two OS distributions eventually will start going different ways in a more significant way.

...lions and water buffalo coexist at the same
watering hole too, when they are really thirsty...
I'm picturing Dilbert and the "pointy haired boss"
having been born and raised as siamese twins, but
without enough desk space for both an A1 and a Pegasos...
...let the games begin!

In reply to Comment 13 (Casey R Williams):
hmmm, the issue isnt solved by having this particular 'MOS' version...
as its still an A-Box app. the main time when MorphOS eventually
becomes an OS is when the Q-box apps start appearing..and AmigaOS
apps being ported to Q-box. at this time, the AmigaOS exec stuff
is no longer in use..and Quark is being used natively ..and
then MorphOS is a true OS competitor. as it currently stands,
MOS is actually helping Amiga application authors test their
code for PPC happiness and speed (and for removing any legacy
stuff) - which means a test bed for OS4.x anyway! ;-)
..now, wheres MOS 1.x for this old BLizzardPPC card i have? ;-)
