In Amiga.org thread "AmigaOne G3SE is here! now!" someone reports they got their new AmigaOne on Thursday and others say their Swedish dealer has them now for deliver on next Tuesday. Some problems are reported with IDE connectors and stability.

Quotes:

"my local (well swedish atleast) dealer has got the first batch SEs! That means that all the people that has ordered a A1Se from GGSDATA in sweden will have their A1s by Tuesday!"

"The newer IDE connectors have a pin missing and the cables also lack a hole for it. Apparently the A1 has IDe connectors with all pins so you have to have a cable with all holes or you have to bend a pin."

"btw DMA is enabled but is a little unstable atm so easier to have it switched off. It is being worked on... A number of developers have it sorted but it hasn't quite reached us 'normal' folk yet."

You forgot one Alkis,

PPC AmigaOS on long awaited PPC hardware.
Not emulated, ported. Not Amiga-like, Amiga.

But then, gateway IS a wintel company, why hold
that aginst Ainc? And as far as DE goes, do you
really care so much if Amiga takes a share in
the handheld devices market just because its
mostly filled with linux and M$ devices? Your
jokeing right? The desktop market is flooded
with wintel boxes, should Amiga exit this market
too?

I suppose you will say that fleecy and bill worked
for gateway and can only have a wintel mindset. But
then that overlooks the fact that they inked the
deals with Hyperion and Eyetech to bring out new hw
and an upgraded OS and only because this itty bitty
Amiga market asked for it. I don't see what your on
about.

If you just want to hack on Ainc (for whatever reason)
more power to you, but do pick up some credible
arguments first. Snapping back at someone with half
truths and inuendo hardly makes you look good. :)

Actually, the handheld market is mostly filled with PalmOS devices, the rest is WinCE/PocketPC/whatever-they-call-it-this-week. Linux is barely even visible in handhelds. Does DE, the so-called cross-platform, easy-to-port solution run on PalmOS devices? No.

Like it matters?

If DE was locked to WinCE and linux for eternity, who
in thier right mind wouldnt still sell to the CE and
linux markets?

So anything positive they do you conveniently
forget and anything that can be twisted by any
means into a negetive light you bring up over
and over again right?

@ Kjetil
That signal is not cutted without a reason. F.ex. there are ATA-UDMA cables without a blocked hole, but the wire itself is cutted there.

Don't remove the pin, you risk fucking up your warranty okey,
and I'm saying that the ATA cable are made for transferring in hi-speeds,
do nt use old IDE cables on new ATA harddrives.

What the pin is used for or is irrelevant okey!
N/C, GND, CRC, Extra data bit or Reserved,
I do not care.

I would really like to have Preview feature on this comment posting system. And ability to edit spelling mistakes. :)

I didn't let anyone to remove that pin, "okey"?

I said the same.

It is NOT irrelevant, "okey"! YOU said earlier that don't cut that pin because that could be some important signal to be leaded through. It seems (perhaps you don't see it) it is a signal that should not be leaded through. Hence cables without blocking have this wire cutted. "Okey"?

Well i don't think they ever said they were going to
do it themselves, if they did, show me where, i don't
believe they have the people to do it either. And i
agree with you IN PART. They have made some unrealistic
or uninformed announcements. Not everything they do
pleases me but in the end im forced to look at whats
happened. Remember Gateway with all thier promises
of an upgraded OS, a settop box (now that made me laugh)
and all thier billions and tech heads to make it happen.
What actually happened? The Amiga community got all
excited, everything looked great and they dumped it.
Since Amiga Inc. bought it up, we've had things like
Amithilon, the new A1 specs and new HW designed based
around them, the deal with Hyperion (and the failed
deal with RS and crew) and the DE (just to mention it).
Think Gateway would have allowed Amithilon or supported
new HW designs for the OS we all love? Think they would
have started talks with RS about a new OS? Think they
would have endorsed new HW or signed deals to get new
HW in our hands? Hell no. Ok, Ainc have thier head buried
in the sand now and then, when and about what is all
personal opinion, but they have done something and thats
more than i can say for others. It's more than i can say
for anyone for years now. So i'm content to sit back and
let things develop. At least somethings actually
developing this time and not alot of hot talk and vapor.

I agree that they did many important deals (and failed to do other important
deals as well), that would not happen with Gateway but they are unable to do
anything themselves. And yes, they did "plan" to do OS4 project management
in-house. It failed. I still remember the P96 guys saying that they signed a
contract and got no information about what they have to do, 2 months AFTER
Amiga Inc announced it.
