I prefer the term "serious life deficiency" ... But there really isn't much else to do in perceptual computing lectures :( , I save low level programming ( basically x86 assembler ) lectures for sneaky amiga projects ;)

A fast analysis.. more you comment, less you have something to announce.

I don't know what are doing top commenters, but I'm sure they don't
make anything about Amiga life.

Perhaps Amiga is not dead, but community I've known has left the place.

Except Elbox maybe:)
Anyway, whatever I have to say, I say it clearly, based on facts most of the

If somebody proves me wrong, I don't hide.
I think that's all I have to say for now, make your own conclusions.

Move over Darrin, number 8 is for me with 798 posts :p... didn't appear in the top-20 because of the use of several different names (Brecht, Brecht [darklite], etc) over the years.
Must have been posting too much right after the Amitlon announcement, as I didn't post much lately.

20 or so. Just goes to show that all them little

I've randomly dropped by annlu many times over a 5-6 year period.. and I've noticed one thing. It hasn't changed very much.

In another thread, I witnessed someone accusing me of being another fellow simply because I chose to use the same spelling of a word. I watched NeRP respond with an idea about registering nicknames on the forum to prevent this sort of thing.

Also to cut out all the anonymous users dropping posts just out of the blue.

(I really should be making a thread on this subject...)

I currently visit a video game forum called for a PC game called Settlers 4.

I've been on there a while and recently have just had my 500th post on there.
Which gave me a new rank on there as well.

I recommend to the ownes of ann.lu that they might consider making a change... I know it's hard and it's not what everyone would welcome at first, especially if some people are just simply set in their ways about some things.

However, I think it be a very good make-over for the site and might draw even more interest.

At..... http://64.246.23.123/forum/index.php?sid= which is where I go, you'll notice near the bottom a list showing who exactly is on and reading the forums.

Some of the "Forums" on there are actually invisible until you become a member. Then such heated forums like the Political one (where a lot of debate goes on), show up.

You can even see who is visiting a particular forum while you are in there.. (this is shown at the top this time)

This is a good layout for a forum. And in my view it's one of the easiest and better looking. It's easy to read and easier organized.

I don't know how many times people may have asked you to update this forum here... I've no idea about that... I'm only suggesting you take a look at it and consider it.

You could always create a "sample" forum using this format on another web page to test it out and get it rolling. And should you decide to move ann over to the new format (or keep testing it for a few months), users would also enjoy the bennefit of a private messaging system as well as custom avatars and signatures... this way there is no question on who is who. And I believe it also retains IP logging.

The primary idea isn't just about fixing that... but a change is always good after a long while. People get bored of the same ole same ole... After all.. we are entering a new era in Amiga computers also. The AmigaOne motherboards have been created ... with all this other stuff changing.. some things will begin to emerge.

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to give ann.lu a face lift eh?

Or like I said... if this idea bothers too many people at first... why not make a 2nd ann lu just for the purpose of testing?

Post the same news threads on both...........

The new one with this setup (Like the Settlers 4 one).... can also have different catagories... such as... Amiga Games. MorphOS... UAE... Amithlon... Aminet discussion... (also a link directly to aminet very much like the Settlers 4.net one that is linked to it's mapbase)

You could even have a General discussion forum... A Technical Help forum... (where users can help other Amigan's with hardware or software issues) and an AmigaClassic forum. There are many different ideas.. I'm just brushing the surface. The settlers forum like I mentioned also has a ranking system.. their top poster (I think its 4,000 posts? or something.. is called a Forum Legend or a Forum star... In Amiga terms it would probably be called: The Forum Guru. (I'd make it 5,000 posts) Of course that's just for fun really... but it also shows how active someone is.

A heck of a lot more accurate if you intend to show off statistics... I mean.. that leader there in your list isn't just one person.. but it's compared to the others because it's in the same list. With this idea, there would be no more annonymous posters... everyone would have to be responsible for what they say... and an e-mail varification would be necessary to activate the account. ;)

And I bet ... even if you had 2 ann's going like this.... it would be a matter of a few weeks before nearly 90% of your crowd ends up on the new format. And you might or will also gain more users who previously have never posted before.

Anyways.. this is just a lightbulb floating around... if you don't like it..(shrug) it's no big deal.

heh.. I should also mention that the other forum I was talking about allows for posts to be "edited" in case there are serious spelling mistakes, typos, or something written in the heat of anger that the writer would like to retract.

Just something to think about.
