A major update of A/NES CGFX has been released. This time it include NSF-support(!) and rewritten DPCM code (very accurate).
Just in time for christmas, check out this new beta of A/NES CGFX. It comes with a new interface for playing NSF's (and this one even works on P96 systems). Tons of NSF's can be found at http://www.zophar.net/nsf/. Oliver Achten, the new member of the A/NES CGFX team, has rewritten the DPCM sound channel, and it's now very accurate (compared to previous versions).

A/NES CGFX v1.30 beta 1 released : Comment 1 of 11 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Iggy Drougge on 21-Dec-2002 18:53 GMT | Haven't been able to try it out yet (my monitor has issued me a death threat recently), but I'm happy to see that work goes on at at least an IBrowse pace. =)
Good to see NSF support, but would it be possible to make a Deli/Eagle player as well, so it could be integrated with all my other chip tunes? |

layers are invisible) A1200, latest CGX, 32Mb RAM, Os3.5bb2, previous one
worked btw. |

A/NES CGFX v1.30 beta 1 released : Comment 4 of 11 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Morgan (A/NES CGFX author) on 22-Dec-2002 10:58 GMT | Known problems with A/NES CGFX is compability problems with P96 systems (however the NSF player do work with P96). The graphics problems described sounds like a game that is trying to do both horisontal/vertical scrolling at the same time, else it could be the result of a not entirely supported mapper. The scrolling bugs are being worked on however... It's not really that easy making a 100% compatible graphics engine when I want it to run at an acceptable framerate even on slower CPU's, like my 68040/25. :-) |

Posted by Morgan (A/NES CGFX crew) on 22-Dec-2002 17:08 GMT | In reply to Comment 5 (Crumb): The problem right now is that it's a standard OS-call that is causing crashes on P96 equipped systems (BltBitmap() for the one who's interested), however we're investigating this currently... |

Morgan,
What if BltBitmap() was patched using another util/patch? Would that improve things to the point of making it useable on p96-based systems? What about the built-in (albeit REALLY out of date) CGFX emulation within p96?
Y'know, it's times like this I wish I'd cobbled my S-S to be a dual-RTG system. ;) |

A/NES CGFX v1.30 beta 1 released : Comment 8 of 11 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Morgan (A/NES CGFX crew) on 23-Dec-2002 08:54 GMT | In reply to Comment 7 (TanZyr): At the moment we really don't have a clue why BltBitmap() is crashing on P96-systems since it's a (very) standard OS-call, and all parameters that are passed to it are 100% valid. Probably something else in the code somewhere that the P96-software doesn't like.
Anyway, may I suggest that bugreports, ideas etc. are discussed in the official A/NES forum instead (hem.passagen.se/anescgfx/ click the forum-link). |
