Did anyone even ASK Amiga Inc / Eyetech / Hyperion if they'd like to demo something there? I'm sure they would have loaned an AmigaOne for the duration of the show if someone had asked them.

A valid question, but OTOH what would it have mattered if they were asked and/or turned up, as there is no AmigaOS4 to demo on the Teron boards today (which is when the show starts)?

Demonstrating Linux isn't very exciting or interesting for most people, and the hardware (be it a Teron or Pegasos or whatever) doesn't really need a demonstration for itself.

"Hmmm, it's a Teron/Pegasos motherboard and it actually has the specs and components that have been listed on the web and it actually looks just like in all those photos. Wow." See what I mean?

Exactly. It was also discussed at Finnish Saku Foorumi forum. If there were demoable OS 4 beta, now that would have been interesting. (who wants to see another Linux system?)

I would vote for this. Instead wasting 50USD for lousy coupons we should better OPEN an account where people spent some bugs so we could buy all the Amiga crap up, hand it over to Genesi and forget about the rest.

:)

Genesi far superiour than AmigaINC these days.

Just a sidenote on the topic, I'm writing this at Altparty, on the
Pegasos. And I like it.

The Amiga look and feel all running on once mythical PPC motherboards
would sound like a fair assumption.

It looks better than my A4000 Workbench and it's a lot faster. It also
runs all the programs I need (browser and irc ;-)

BirdieShoot is addictive.

But those people at that happening are not interested on yet another PPC linux platform. We would have needed something different.

The machine seemed quite nice, I gave it a quick whirl too.. Too bad that I couldn't really test anything I normally use..

Didn't like the drag windows off the screen-thing, even my windows setups have a small tool that pops windows back to the screen if they go over the edge. :-)

Hope that someone demos the AmigaOne in .fi too, best would of course be if I could borrow both systems for a few days, install everything I wanted and then make a descision..

In reply to Comment 15 (priest):
priest, we're not demonstrating "yet another Linux PPC platform". We
have no linux installed on the Pegasos here, only MorphOS.

Ofcourse we told people that were interested in Pegasos that it runs
linux aswell, but in general - they didn't care.

Hm. I'm not lame enough to start a Forum thread, so I'll just drop this here and see if anyone bites-

When can we expect photos from CES, and/or more detail on the "Pega-shush?"

In reply to Comment 3 (Lando):
Those Amiga.name companies have been SO **** passive... They did Nothing to support Saku at Sepember 2001 (I was there demoing DE. They did not even bothered send any single PDA for loan). Same thing at Saku's meeting at last september.. Once Again AmigaInc/Hyperion/Eyetech were letdowns... See this link (english text)..
http://batman.jypoly.fi/~saku/yhdistys/tiedotteet/0210072.txt

And afterall they have nothing new to Show. DE has gone nowhere since I demoed it over 2 years ago, Aone+Linux is so Bore that no-one would be interested to see it on happening like Alt-party. There are a LOT more interesting machines than than Aone .. :)
