This link shows a close-up picture of the new AmigaOne G3-SE and the Artica fix. There are several green wires with one seemingly going under the board from a Do not use this hole labelled hole. More AmigaOne pictures here from the same person. There are also some pictures of the BIOS.

100 MHZ FSB ?
Is it because his SDRAM can not cope with 133 MHZ ?

Or maybe a retro compatibility mode - I thought it was specified as 133 at some point.

Yes, that's the reason! I'll buy a registered SDRAM as soon as I get some money to do so...

I've tested the same chip on my parents Athlon 1800+ and it works perfectly with 133Mhz FSB. So nothing wrong with my memory... This seems to be the problem with UnRegistered SDRAMs and Articia S...

Well.. not so bad.. But makes me wonder why Pegasos April fix has Two programmable chips that have about 10* more logic capacity in them. :)

A few questions to whoever owns this A1 setup, how noisy is the fan on that there Gfx card? and how noisy is the machine all together. I look forward to the day when I can turn on my machine, sit and use it for a few hours without getting a damn headache from all the fans. My current miggy sounds like a jet turbine esspecially atm as one fan is dieing, I hope its not the fan on the BPPC, I will take a look when my PCMCIA nic arrives.

I wish people would bother to read the various faqs on the net. It has been stated many times before that the Articia S requires REGISTERED ram to work correctly. The Pegasos is exactly the same as the AOne in this respect!

It's very quiet, very quiet indeed! :) Gfx-card/cpu fans are almost silent. I think that the HD is the most "noisy" component in that system...

A would think yhis was up to what GFX-card you had, not on the A1... ;-)
Seriously, it would indeed be nice with a quiet computer for a change. Since the PPC (by report) require no more than a heat sink itself, it should be easier to get a silent setup.

Yes, I'm wery aware of that! But I had bought the RAM back in May so I decided to give it a shot anyway... Besides, there are few UnRegistered SDRAMs that do work with 133Mhz with no problems...

I've got an A1200 REV A1 here with 3 wires soldered to it. Works like a charm.

Didn't anyone ever tell this fellow that you don't want flash when taking pictures of things that emit light, like CRTs?

In reply to Comment 24 (Pekka Nissinen):
The best way to photograph a screen is to turn the room lights out,
use a long focal length lens (to reduce distortion), and a longish
exposure.

On a digital camera you could probably do a test shot and then adjust
the exposure accordingly. I presume you are using a digital camera as
the board shots are blurry.

Yes, I was a digital camera which I borrowed from a friend. I've never owned a camera myself so I don't have virtually any experiece in that field. Besides, the idea was just to take some sort of pictures of my new machine...

Well, if you've never owned a camera you did pretty well

Maybe in a couple of years when digital cameras are nearer to 35mm
film quality, you might buy your own.

I wonder why people think it's an Articia fix? None of the wires seem
to be connected to the Articia.

In reply to Comment 29 (Johan Rönnblom):
Perhaps it's because Articia is BGA chip.. you can't connect wires to it directly. And most of those lines go around the board anyhow so it's better to connect them where-ever easiest to solder them in.
