What could have been...

" Although this product will almost certainly never see the light of day (given the distinct lack of miracles in the current Amiga market), I have received numerous requests to provide a list of features of The Product Formerly Known As Amithlon2, or "Umilator". So here is that list." - Bernd Meyer

Also check out "Umiblog" - Bernd "Bernie" Meyer's random ramblings and weird wailings.

> How can they be fellow users and PC users at the same time?

The same way you can be a Ford user and a Chevy user at the same time, I'll leave it to you to figure out how that's possible :/

> PC users are the enemy, I think we all can agree on that.

Oh for crying out loud! I don't agree. I have no enemies, and I think you have some antisocial issues. Are you militant about other products too? Do you wander the grocerie stores sizing up potential enemies based on which brands are dropped in their carts?

Are there any Amiga users left who's feet still touch the ground?

People on here are clearly CLUELESS,

Amithlon was one of the best sold product in years, it gave Amiga shops some nice profit but oh no you people (or should the term be SCUM) have done nothing but chop down Meyer and Amithlon for ages and so you have WON,

I hope you people are proud of yourselfs.

Just to add, i hope every god damn products for the future gets pirated and totally destroyed and lets see how you wonderfull Amiga users like it,

I for one will be pirating all Amiga software (even if i wont even use it).

Tony,

your comments are over the top but i agree about Amithlon,

The Amiga community is over run with worshipers and dead beats who can not see a product which got thousands of people back to the Amiga,

I will not support any Amiga companies anymore, i will download all Amiga software now especially products by H&P.

I don't know, but I say we bomb them!!! ;-)

I can't believe people are talking like this! There's no Enemy, they're just computer users. Some people are just too nerdy or something...

>Problem one: it runs on top of windows...

To me that's a plus. I like running two OSes at once. It's great for development as well as my favorite text editor is Textpad for windows and then I switch over to WinUAE and compile with SAS/C. I even run WinUAE in a little window. It's great, in fact I prefer it this way.

>Problem two: it uses one of the worst GUI's available on any program on any
>computer platform. It's simply plain bad.

huh?!? I always thought Imagine for the Amiga had the worst ever interface. WinUAE's GUI isn't that bad, it just has a ton of options. I think they did a decent job. Some better online help would be nice though.

Let's just say... I don't give sh*t about your opinion, Bernd Meyer has done more than you ever had for Amiga, and if he has having lot of free time I bet that isn't his fault, if you know what I mean... jmo =)

"I don't care for Linux Amiga emulators that can't even run warpup/powerup apps.
If it had been a full emulation of an amiga then I would be more interested. I know the phase5 boards are expansion boards, but these expansion boards represented the official upgrade path (powerpc) on this platform for years.

I know, I know, but the brains behind all of these emulators....the team over at UAE hasn't yet done an emulation of the phase5 boards....well, so be it, but that would have made it interesting for me."

So... what are you doing here, just nagging!?

The Imagine interface is much improved these days, especially on a

Yeah yeah.

Fact is, this "product" IS vaporware.

It doe snot exist in any form available to its target market.

It is vapor.

Pure and simple.

Of course, given it doesn't and never will exist in a general release, it makes it easy for you and BillH to make all sorts of wild claims about what it woudl have been able to do, with no way of anyone every being able to find out for real how accurate those statements are.

(OTOH, there is also no reason to doubt the accuracy of the statements either. Just no way to know one way or the other, which makes this entire thread pointless.)

But fact is, it is vapor.

Well, it's a damn solid form of vapour, then.Bill has got his betatester copy, as does Lasse. AmigaInc have theirs, and it is my understanding that Extreme Computing even demoed this stuff at last year's AmiWest. The people of AUG (one of the Melbourne Amiga user groups) have seen this on numerous occassions throughout its development. And last but not least, *if* a miracle occurrs and "they" agree to have it released, I'd look quite stupid if those features weren't there, now wouldn't I?

Fact is, it *is* vapor until it is actually available.

Check the standard definitions of vaporware for yourself if you disbelieve.

It has been announced but it is not available, ergo it is vaporware.

Now, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist in some form, even a completed-and-ready-to-sell form; that is it not available is what makes it vapor. If "they" change their minds and let you sell it, then it will cease to be vapor.

I really don't know what do you want to prove with this ridiculous claims... if any

Microsoft is a lousy company making lousy products for a sub-standard platform. While that is a problem for those concerned, I don't concern me with that platform, and logic dictates that Microsoft should fold sometime around 1987. They produce shite and have agendas only rivalled by the Amiga boss, McEwen or whatever he calls himself, but that is their problem. I can't dislike people or even companies just on the basis of their bad products.
People who support those products, OTOH, are the enemy. Microsoft isn't a self-contained entity, just like any government it is dependent on the people. I dislike the people who choose the bad product over the better one, since it puts those of us using the good product in an under-dog position. It's the consumers' fault, not Microsoft's. They're just a company, and for everything bad they've done throughout the years, that doesn't suffice to give them the power they hold. They've earned their power from every person out there who's bought a PC.
I think I'm in my full right to regard PC people as bad people, since they're directly contributing to the further consolidation of Microsoft's stronghold on the computer industry.
I do what I can to make the Amiga a useful computer and the computer world a bit more diverse. PC people work against this noble cause.

My God.

You can tell how bad the Amiga situation is when a long time troll like meyer is considered a hero, building his work on stolen kickstart ROM, and haking an open source emulator.

You people should get a clue and support UAE project instead.

Iggy, you and your likes are what killed the Amiga.
Grow up, you idiot, it is this childish attitude and Microsoft conspiracy bullshit that left the Amgia behind having just bunch of idiots like you as users.

While you are sitting here whining about what Microsoft is doing, they just spilt the stocks and posted profits that beat Wall street for the billionth time, you idiot.

You even have the nerve to lable PC users as bad people, I guess you are an exmaple of what is left in the Amiga scene, the scum like you.
