I've uploaded BibVision bible text viewer v1.5 to Aminet (text/show/BibVision.lha). The new version supports the German Luther Bibel (Aminet: docs/etext/LutherBibel.lha).

We are closing out a busy weekend trying to understand more about how these sites work (ANN, amiga.org, etc.). We have posted on quite a few threads this weekend and felt sorry for this lonely thread so we posted here in closing…

Martin Luther published the 95 thesis by nailing them to a door in Wittenburg in 1517. He became the leader of the assault on Papal authority. Luther felt that the revolt he spawned would not last long, but in fact he initiated a monumental change in the Christian Religion and its practice through the Church. Subsequently, a vision of a better future arose in Germany. Luther inspired changes in religion, in politics and in the social life of regular people -- which being the greatest of revolutionary forces produced a reaction (email us if you are really interested in the history). The New Testament translations were finished in 1522 and the whole Bible in 1534.

Did you know Beck’s beer is from Wittenburg too?! They are now in Bremen, but they used to say they were from Wittenberg (?). Beck's claims they are brewed in strict accordance with the “Reinheitsgebot,” the German Purity Law of 1516.

I often wondered if Luther had to solve the beer problem first (1516 vs. 1517) before he could focus on the more cerebral issues!

:-)

Prost!

Have a great night.

I wonder if there is a connection between Bible bashers and the
Amiga people? I mean, both are convinced of the second coming.

I'm not sure about the "beer history" as I am not a partaker, but the history of the Reformation is indeed fascinating. However, it engenders hard feelings in some quarters even to this day. I would be fascinated to hear Bill's take on it.

...and Raquel and I could spend hours and hours talking about it.

We should have a Beck's sometime!

If you'll come to Vilnius someday, we could talk about beer here. When you'll try lithuanian beer, you'll never go back to any other ;-)
