Elbox has created some AHI drivers for FM801-based soundcards, like the Terratec 512i Digital.
More info here.
Mediator AHI drivers for FM801-based sound cards : Comment 1 of 36ANN.lu

Hi, I use my Amiga 2000 and Repulse audio card to do professional audio (multitrack music recording and mastering). Therefore I bought the Repulse because it has an OPTICAL IN as well as an OPTICAL OUT (to do DAT to Amiga transfers). Are there any drivers for PCI audio cards (for the Mediator or the new AmigaOne) which support cards with optical/coaxial digital inputs? Until we can get our audio into our Amigas digitally, other Amiga musicians and myself will have to stay with the Classic Hardware and Zorro Amiga audio cards like the Maestro and Repulse (and Flipper?). I hope a driver for either the AmigaOne or Classic Amiga PCI adaptors will support a PCI card with these features soon (do they already?).

well SB LiVE is supported under Amiga OS 4.x but this is only AHI
(SB LiVE/Audigy will not be supported with mediator under OS 3.x)
soo if they actually support the other ports other than aux etc. is anybody's guess.

Why dont you do some research before you post!!!!!

Or is that why you post anonymously ?

I have a Sound Blaster Live in my Mediator and its already supported via AHI

Maybe not everybody has so much time to spend researching.

By the way, I though that forums like this were created just for making research easier, as people eventualy could share information to each other.

In reply to Comment 5 (Ryu):
There isn't one for the mediator, there is a SB LiVE AHI driver but that one is for Amithlon (I think) it's the same that will be used for Amiga OS 4.0,

it could be that the amithlon does work under mediator but... I doubt it.

This driver for Amithlon hasn't been released yet (if at all).
But from what I gather, the SB Live driver will be released
as soon as OS 4 is out the door...

In reply to Comment 7 (x):
I don't know of any Amithlon user who has a SB Live driver. It is
certainly not released.

However, what is needed is some drivers for good quality cards, as
well as for Soundblasters. The Terratec range would be a good start.

In reply to Comment 8 (Don Cox):
the terratec is not considered good... one specialist on audio stated that
'the terratec 512i can not be recommended for audio work or even for games the audio quality is to bad, what the terratec card can be used for is voice-recognition since the noise is very good.'

simplified but the meaning is there.

and as stated before... there are better cards around perhaps they should write a driver for the delfina flipper instead (but I doubt Elbox have the expertise to do that).

Heheh. I'm sure he did not say "since the noise is very good." :D
I have not seen that article but I'm sure he said " since the sound/noise ratio is very good" Which means that the sound quality is good and it does not have much interference or distortion. Good S/N ratio is important in the voice detection. So better the S/N ratio is better the sound quality is.

Or hm signal/noise ratio is the right term, not sound/noise ratio. Anyway it means the same I said abowe.

If you've got a repulse I wouldn't bother with taking up a pci slot with a peecee sound card with half ass drivers. The repulse is a very good card just that it's expesive as hell.

Does that make Amiga Inc. the shotgun wound in the head? And maybe Hyperion are a gaping chest wound?

I like this metaphor - Merlancia is the wood splinter in the right thumb of Amiga.

And while you try cracking them or some bit is changing inside the code the driver will start to make a NASTY pitched sound and then the Elbox CEO screams up saying "Hello cracker. We protect our Software stop cracking it" then a big loud noise and a melting smell comes up and driver, soundcard and your computer are broken :)

The Repulse is indead a good card (and expensive) - but doesn't record analogue sound properly via a ZIV expansion on the A1200, unfortunately. I do hope the Flipper works well with the ZIV - in ALL respects - because if it does, I'll buy one... If not, I'll have to wait until there's an AOne on my desk.

If you really believe Elbox added the RDB killer code to its drivers to protect against piracy then you clearly are way off the mark,

They want people to buy overpriced Elbox PCI cards instead of a average Joe adjusting their drivers to run cheap PCI cards,

It is all about MONEY/GREED and POWER, nothing else.

Excellent news.

So tell me, do these drivers include the usual Elbox illegal code designed to fsck up your hard drives if Elbox decide they don't like you?

(You know, like some of their other drivers have been proven tohave, despite Elbox's attempts to censor the news)

And you have conclusive proof of this do you?

Is it as conclusive as the proof that there was no such code there in the first place (which Elbox originally claimed, remember)?

Once bitten, twice shy (as the saying goes).

Yes true every company want that but most DO NOT make drivers for their hardware fsck up the users harddrive if they modify the code to let them run other hardware,

If this was done by Microsoft,Nvidea,ATI,Elite,Asus etc etc people would complain like fsck BUT because it is an Amiga company the users are willing to cover it up and accept it and worship them.

Maybe because we don't have so many companies which can make PCi-busboards and drivers for them ? Elbox is too important for the Amiga. If eg. Nvidia would die then nione would really care because there is so many other companies too.

That is irrelavent,

Using destructive CODE in drivers is wrong, there is no excuse whatsoever and i find it hard to understand why people are so willing to hero worship Elbox,

Any company was does hardware for Amiga should be respected but not when they go to those extreme measures then do everything in their power to cover it up.

So, it really doesn't work for the Mediator A1200? In that case, it seems to me that they're trying to "force" people to upgrade to Mediator 1200 SX. (Same deal with the Spider - sort of)

They said for all mediators currently in production... (no Mediator in that list) it seems to me that they just said they don't produce Mediator 1200 anymore because there is SX. But atleast I did get those drivers, and I do have mediator 1200. I can't test those because i have sb128, and no money for new soundcard right now.

but in the readme in the archive it clearly states that the FM801 cards does not work on the Mediator PCI 1200.

The SB 4.1 will work apparently, but if the FM801 does not work then SB LiVE and SB Audigy Will not work either (on the Mediator PCI 1200).

excuse me???? did you actually READ any of the Amiga pages online when
this issue came to light? Almost ALL Amiga users were very vitriolic about
it (many comparing Elbox to those aforementioned companies). even those
that want to support Elbox were hardly nice about the issue. Elbox took
the code out very quickly.

if you dont like their business model (trying to get some funds by controlling
which drivers and cards work with the system) then dont buy their PCI BUS
solution...go and buy someone elses..some other company that invested
time, research. money etc to keep our platform alive and useable....oh, wait...
