TTEngine 6.1 has been released. It is mainly bugfix update. Changes list:
- Font requester gadgets now remember their state after window resizing.
- Removed requester layout bug preventing window from opening in some circumstances.
- Font handle returned by TT_OpenFont() can be now shared between different system processes. It allows for using TTEngine in multithreading applications or BOOPSI classes.

Can this handle Cleartype/subpixel rendering?

Can this be used in Morphos or AOS4?

In reply to Comment 2 (Dittos):
Probably, but MorphOS (and OS4 will too afaik) is already using the same engine (freetype2) as a diskfont render engine (which means that you can use practically any font format in your system), additionally MorphOS provides anti-aliasing through this engine (which also supports subpixel rendering for LCD).

In reply to Comment 2 (Dittos):
TTEngine can be used and was tested with MorphOS, and probably will work with OS4 (well it does not exist yet, so I am not sure).

In reply to Comment 3 (Sigbjørn Skjæret):
It is a bit imprecise, MOS diskfont.library is not integrated with FreeType2, there is an ft2.library, which is AFAIK plain FreeType2 port. TTEngine adds an abstraction layer over FreeType2 integrating it in some level with AmigaOS and improving some things like HSV based antialiasing, codepages support, font management, font memory cache and more.

Okay, so there is no way to "hack" or modify something to get Amiga Web Browsers to *sport* the look of common browsers with this software or anything else?

There is a way. AWeb sources are available, replacing graphics.library text calls with TTEngine ones is possible.

There is also an assortment of ugly patches for antialiasing on Aminet. One might work with AWeb. Or not.

Yes there is, MorphOS supports this through ft2.library which works as a renderengine for diskfont, with antialiasing and everything .. I've configured
iBrowse to use the original ms webfonts even...
