When announcing something, it would be a good idea to give us some
clue as to what it is and why we might be interested.

It is a rather nice benchmark suite. I ran it on my A4000 with 66MHz 060 and Cybervision PPC....
For now I just ran the cpu tests, and the pegasos module destroyed my 060 :)

But today I will run it on my Amithlon setup...we will see which system benchmarks faster :)

Any OS 4 beta tester want to make a module and post it? I'd like to see G4 results compared to my Amithlon setup.

IMO, this benchmark would be a full one witn graphic stuff too.
And how about testing more stuff ? Network loopback, harddrive access
time, HDD tests on ALL harddrives (not just one partition), and so
on...

i'm not sure if this was meant to be as flame bait, but the basic answer
is that this would not be possible right now.

(and, on a more basic note, your Amithlon is only doing 68k AmigaOS apps,
whereas an OS4 G4 would be running the 68k programs under emulation
whilst running the rest of the OS and all other , newer programs, under
native PowerPC...so the exact speed of the 68k benchmark wont be so much
an issue- slow IBrowse on 060? well, run the PowerPC version ;-) )

We'll see how much of the os will actually run PPC native.. ;-)

No flame bait, just an honest request for someone to submit benchmark results...
(A full module would be nice).

There will be no PowerPC version of IBrowse 2.3 - the one that will ship with OS 4 is fully 68K... They perhaps plan for IBrowse 3.0 to be PPC native, but we'll see!

In any case, it seems my Amithlon system is for the most part faster than a pegasos system G3 600 - and I only have a lowly Athlon XP 1600+ and PC133 ram. I have another PC with DDR Ram and an Athlon XP 2100+, but the motherboard is RMA'ed rigth now. I expect it back in a few weeks.

Can you imagine Amithlon on an Athlon XP with the barton core eg Athlon XP 2500+ or 3000+ and PC2700 memory? :) that would rule ;)

I'd like to see a G4 benchmarked, though...any takers?

Darren
