There's a new version of 3c589.device available on Aminet. This is a SANA-II network driver for 3Com Etherlink III PC Cards (PCMCIA cards). Note that not all 3Com cards work with this driver, and that some compatible cards are rebranded by other manufacturers. The first version was available at the start of the year, but I waited until now to announce it because I wanted to be sure that it was reasonably bug-free.

Also included is a new library, pccard.library, which may be useful to anyone developing PCMCIA software.

great news! these PCMCIA 3coms are quite common...and just
as easily available as the ne2k/cnet ones. now we just
need the d-link driver and we've got PCMCIA networking
covered!

...did there exist a fully working PCMCIA-holding zorro-II
board?

But what model 589 is this for? The A model has it's own driver, the B/C-models share a driver and the D model has it's own driver again.

It might be a good idea to specify that in the readme too, so people don't need to go through downloading and unpacking to see that the 589 they got for free isn't supported after all. :-)

It should work with all 3c589s. The above may be true for the Windows drivers, but Linux, for example, has just one driver for them all.
