As Genesi announces on MorphOS-News.de, the next Pegasos-I-boards will go on sale on Monday: To Whom it May Concern:

The Pegasos will go on sale Monday.

There are 300 to sell and 100 that will go to MorphOS Developers and Employees.

If interested to purchase a Pegasos mainboard or fully configured machine:

1. Contact your Distributor
2. Contact Phoenix
3. Contact Genesi

When these are sold there will not be another release until August/September 2003. The next release, the Pegasos II, will have double data rates, three 1 Gb/s ethernet channels, and Dual G4s. Genesi will not release a new version until then.

We want everyone to understand this before they purchase the Pegasos available now. All Betatester boards will be exchanged with the first priority.

An upgrade credit will be offered to Pegasos I buyers. The Pegasos I will not have a G4 upgrade.

Thank you and best regards,

Genesi

Note: Please contact Genesi directly to get your replacement board with April chipset (if you haven't done so far). Thank you.

I cant believe how blind or rose-coloured
you guys glasses are!

Pegasos was sold as "upgradable to G4". now this has been changed.
but you people , instead of doing what you'd do if Eyetech
had done the same 9which would be war!) just shrug and say 'oh, thats
okay..there'll be a new board in 6 months time' .
when told that your G3 is faster than a 800MHz G4 you believe it.
when told that there'll be a new April2 to fix April...you take it
when told anything bad or changed or cancelled you take it.

when anything positive is said about AmigaONE, you fight silly bitching wars.

when anything positive is said about SO4, you slag it to death....

you spread silly rumours and FUD about the alternative (eg about L2 cache
not working on the G4....duh!) without looking at what is lurking in your
own choice of platform. anyone with half an ounce of sense would see
the enormous problems.

it basically means that we cant take your views with any seriousness now.

it also means that Genesi are prepared to do dirty tricks on their customers..which is a pity. because they looked the best choice until now
(sure...upgrade to PegasosII when.if it comes out....for further costs..please
add up these costs guys and see what your investing).

dont worry PegasosIII will be a nice STB if the roadmap suggests itself, you'll be able to show os3.9 apps running on it next year.

So you got a A1 XE G4 Board to compare? Please email Nate then.

At least Mr De Groote offered his help and is now providing his benchmark
results in the other thread.

In reply to Comment 302 (David Scheibler):
No none have to give no frigging Aone-XE board to compare.

BB has to Show us the proof.

He must use the Aone-XE that he must have somewhere tp prove what he claims

But as he always does is talk & prove nothing.

BB made the claim so BB has to prove it Or shut the hell up.

And that's exactly what they're doing. Just read the other thread.

BBRV have offered Ben Hermans to make these tests. Ben Hermans provides the
AmigaOne XE G4, BBRV will provide a Pegasos G3 600. B.H. choses the Linux
distribution and some of the benchmarks. BBRV will add some more benchmarks to
this list. Fair test. I'm sure Mr Hermans will agree.

In reply to Comment 304 (David Scheibler):
No thats not how to do it he is making a false claim like he always does.

His claim that it is mean that he already has tested the Aone-XE.

The fact that he is asking for someone else to bring an Aone means he has not done the test wich makes his claim false.

He Knows full well that Ben will not bother with going along with BB's crap.

Just luike the crap come get your pegasos offer.

PPL have better things todo

In reply to Comment 305 (Alkemyst):
I'm sure BBRV will provide the results. Then everybody can compare with their
brand new A1 XE G4 which will be available (according to KDH) on March 10th if
Mr Hermans won't agree and provide a machine himself.

Nothing else they have said: "let the others understand this on their own".

Why aren´t the results published yet ? Could it be that no tests have been carried out ?

It looks as if somebody is spreading false rumours....

I just like to offer my services here. If Eyetech would like to send me a "loaded" AmigaOneXE G4 and Bill Buck would send me a "loaded" Pegasos, installed with Linux and complete with test software then I'll be happy to perform the tests and post the results.

I do get to keep the machines afterwards, dont I?

That sounds like a fair deal to me. But you know, you would have to have some kind of electronics certification (ie: A+) to prove that you could manage the tests. ;-)

Except for the fact that Linux doesn't run on the peg. Check BB comment on the second letter:

>>Linux people usually want something great for nothing, [...]. As more
>>professionals and desktop consumers switch to Linux, the future of
>>commercial software on Linux is very bright and so is our hardware.
>>Functionality will become precedent over cost in this market. We need a
>>bootable bundled distro

That looks to me like "we need a bootable bundled distro", not "Linux doesn't run on the Pegasos", which there evidently are several distros that already do.

Do us a favour and shut up about subjects you know nothing about, like computing and technology, including Amiga-related stuff. Don't you have some digging to do about the financial situation of Eyetech's competitors? Come on! Chop, chop, Alan's waiting!

i see others with "great fanfares" trying to overtune something?!
