I think $50 is a bit of a price for information that Amiga should provide everybody at no cost via www.amiga.com.

Not a flame just my take on it :-)

From reading amiga.org, it seems to be some interesting stuff in there. One of the
first real good incentives I've heard for being a member. :-)

Hey, it's actually delivered on time, too! Good to see.

It's good to see people getting something for their $50, but I don't know how much it builds their userbase to keep this information secret when the competitors are doing so much public market-building, and getting results. Something I hear about these newsletters is that whatever's in them can't be that significant or it'd either be kept totally within the company or made completely public, to try to bring developers and customers on board. But I guess Amiga, Inc. has its own reasoning.

If you get the $50 it's certainly a good thing. Problem is that with a price of $50 a YEAR they will never increase the number of members.

"i couldnt care less about a t-shirt as this newsletter has been a good read now for the last couple months."

It probably is for the 1150 who get's it... It's just not a very good way to show the masses that something is actually happening at Amiga.

Not a good way to treat registered developers is it!?

Previously the "AmigaWorld" magazine was free, now they have replaced it with something apparently similar but which costs $50 to read, what a rip off. Registered developer log on does not work, must have to give Amino an extra $50 first...

Would you all just put a sock in it.

how come every post on Amiga inc. turns into a $50 coupon thread?

I for one bought a freaking coupon, not for the newsletter, not for the club membership, and not for the t-shirt. But to get the $50 discount on A1/OS4 when it becomes available.

As it havent become available yet, no one have screwed me over, as no one have not hold their end of the deal yet. If i don't get the $50 discount on A1/OS4, feel free to call me a sucker then. but not until it for a fact is proven that Amiga inc. don't intend to honor the deal.

know back on topic:
Damn the improved Amidock looks way cool, properly one of the best dock/launchers i've seen for any platform. if as much attention to detail have been given to the rest of the OS4 project. were surely in for a big surprice.

Ofcourse youre referring to the AmigaOS fact sheet and not the cam which is confidential ;)

I agree with you.
It seems that most people complaining are actually people who never bought a coupon in the first place.
On top of that, it's not like $50 is all that much money, some people make it sound like $500...
Now if people do not get their $50 back after their AmigaOne purchase, then you could speak of a rip-off, but until then it isn't.

Also, someone said that any of bbrv's post contains more 'interesting news/information' - ofcourse thats your opinion and you're entitled to one, however, I hope I'm not the only one whose hairs on the back of the neck rise whenever I read bbrv's posts. I just don't trust that bb, sorry.
I've ordered a Pegasos, and an AmigaOne and neither has arrived yet, but I for one will make up my own mind who to support after having played with both computers. Just my rant on this...

it's nothing more than what to expect from Amiga in teh way of promoting elitism.

if you can separate those who believe from those who don't then you have a better chance of building your cult. Especially if you charge the believers.

On another note, I found linuxcd.org to have supprisingly inexpensive CD distros of many distros of Linux... Even other stuff, like the Hurd and BSD...

Back on topic, Amiga has a history of knowing how to create hype (I remember the Jim Collas speach written by Bill and given at a Gateway show in St. Louis.) Meaning regardless of what you read in the newsletter, it is only words written. And I don't recall paying that much for a subscription to any Amiga magizine or even user group club dues.

It does nobody any good to continue on with such fabricated elitism and promotion of. And what could you expect in the event Amiga actually does something, but the balloning of such elitism. Such a thing is not healthy but can only lead to greater levels of conflict between elitist and what could only be scum commoners in the eyes of the elitist.

As to information that is supposedly given first to members..... the question must be asked...... When does this information become available to everyone else?

insider trading........a con game...

What a predictable reaction from the vocal moronity... if Amiga hadn't released their monthly newsletter, there would be crowing and gloating ("no newsletter? man that's sad, they can't even deliver a newsletter on time"). Since they have released their newsletter, it's canned response B ("wow, they actually managed to deliver a measly newsletter. That's pretty sad"). Is this the only pleasure you people get, putting others down (who are in much the same position *you* are BTW)? now *that* is pretty sad.

if they did do an update first thing tomorrow, you wouldnt believe it. its a bit of bad luck that due to Gary P's medical condition he hasnt been as active as he once was, and there is a void that he has left.

it has been good to see Ray A's posts recently as they are good fun posts and he doesnt get bogged down in politics, which cant be said for almost everyone else involved in the main groups.

you can always use google groups to see where and how active Gary has been in the newsgroups, perhaps google web to see elsewhere????

Shrug....

but in any event, lets be fair. If Garys condition is guarded and there is a void to fill because of it...... perhaps reasonable steps should be taken to fill that void while helping Gary to not feel his condition is causing a void.

In other words, and as a matter of business and health....... don't use someones possible medical condition to obtain a sympathy vote. As some might consider that rather low.

If OS4 costs 150$ when it gets released and you have now spent 50$ in advance to get a "discount" So you have to pay 100$ for the product AND you STILL have also paid the 50$ EARLIER for the coupon. 100$+50$ = 150$.

Now perhaps you could explain me where is the discount if the original price of product is 150$ and after the coupon you still have lost 150$ from your wallet?

I usually like to post a comment or two, but what to say about this thread...ho hum...I have always maintained if they want the most club members, they should actually do something...like posts news and updates. It will give them the most club members, that is reality..so good move on Amiga, Inc's part...but with that said, that is not the whole story...it works cause of the large number of 'gullible dorks' out there....now its time to poke a little fun.

Amiga, Inc. and the clubbers are having another one of their imagination fests...Jimmy:, what if we get real big someday when we grow up, I'll be a fireman...and Susan: I'll be a truck driver, and Bill: I'll compete head to head with Sony and Microsoft in the video game arena.

There, now you all know exactly what the club site is all about, so go to sleep and don't worry on it anymore.

Of course there are. The remaining Amigans are mostly gullible morons, the sub-human minority of computer users who couldn't figure out that expensive, slow, poor quality hardware and expensive, slow, poor quality software add up to a bad platform. Bill regularly scams thousands of dollars out of these people.

If it weren't for a few decent people who get caught out (like Bernd) and waste their time working on the Amiga instead of helping with the millions of non-scam projects out there, it would be easy to dismiss the whole thing as a sideshow, like those TV preachers and forget about it.
