Zeoneo Limited is moving into the AmigaOS market with the acquisition of the exclusive rights to the noted and highly respected graphics application Candy Factory. See press release.
Candy Factory is a program for creating professional looking graphics using bevels, glows, drop-shadows, bump-mapping, textures and lighting effects. With the minimum of effort you can quickly produce logos, titles, banners, headings, buttons and other similar graphics. Instant visual feedback of the adjustments made means the settings can be tweaked in real-time until you are completely happy with the result.

so clued about about its timescales.
You just got the 'X' noise from Family Fortunes ;-) |

Well, at the moment not because the press release doesn't say so!!
If it will or will not be is the choice of the manufacturer....... it does not have to do with any of us. |

Posted by Bladerunner on 14-Mar-2003 10:11 GMT | I am not sure, but I am afraid this could be another of those legal Problems Software things, like eg Amithlon.
As I stated on Amiga News, According to my Candy Documentation, the rights of Candy Factory is at motionstudios.
And I wonder if they sold it to zeoneo?! Especially, as there was a beta of V2 for Mac OS?
Perhaps someone could bring up some light? |

However, if they had ever been in this business, they would know that it will finally fold at the end of the year at the latest! Wish Zeoneo much luck :P |

Since many AmigaOS programs runs happily on MorphOS, this *could* (not saying it will) also be of interest to MorphOS users. What's your problem anyway? |

Posted by Troels E on 14-Mar-2003 11:36 GMT | In reply to Comment 23 (takemehomegrandma): His problem is the same problem a LOT of people have with this site and Amiga.org... That EVERY thread about AmigaOS is turned into an pro MOS, pro AOS thread because someone from the other camp enters the thread.
I just took a fast look at the press release but I think it mentioned OS4 and not MOS, therefore I guess your post was useless here. |

Zeoneo Acquires Candy Factory : Comment 26 of 141 | ANN.lu |
Posted by samface on 14-Mar-2003 11:38 GMT | In reply to Comment 23 (takemehomegrandma): Since many AmigaOS3.x programs run on MorphOS, you mean. Again, what does this have to do with MorphOS? The announcement specificly states that it will be AmigaOS4 specific and there is no way of guaranteeing that it will ever run on MorphOS. In other words; you are speculating when you jump to the conclusion that it will and those speculations are off-topic to this particular news item. |

Zeoneo Acquires Candy Factory : Comment 27 of 141 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Andy on 14-Mar-2003 11:45 GMT | Hey guys! What kind of idiot that must be to pretend to buy super-exotic ppc hardware and soft for it in such sensible business area as graphic and design? |
|
Zeoneo Acquires Candy Factory : Comment 28 of 141 | ANN.lu |
Posted by samface on 14-Mar-2003 11:47 GMT | Summory of this announcement:
An AmigaDE software developer has decided to enter the *AmigaOS* market by purchasing Candy Factory. They have decided to make a new version that will be AmigaOS4 specific. No mention of MorphOS, Genesi nor the Pegasos.
FACT: MorphOS has no capability to run AmigaOS4 applications. *If* it will ever run AmigaOS4 applications in the future is speculation.
Please leave MorphOS out of this, it's OT. |

anyway candy factory 2 will rock my world, looking so forward to it, oh and yes
there is some more to be posted by zeoneo soon :) |

here is a quote from the zeoneo interview:
Is it possible, that Zeoneo will support MorphOS, too?
There are no plans to do so.
Will you support AmigaOS 4.0?
Yes. We have plans to support AmigaOS 4.0 and beyond, some of which are already in progress. More details will be released in the near future.
so please READ the sources before inventing answers.
to all mos peopls...check this link: http://www.amigafuture.de/englisch/eng_interactive/eng_zeoneo2.php

Zeoneo Acquires Candy Factory : Comment 32 of 141 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Elwood on 14-Mar-2003 12:35 GMT | I don't understand why some people still want a "merge" between MOS-fans and OS4-fans. I think, if OS4-fans are here on ANN, MOS-fans should go to http://www.morphos-news.de It is a great place, well-done. I think it should be modified to add a forum, so that everybody will be happy... |

Posted by samface on 14-Mar-2003 12:54 GMT | In reply to Comment 30 (tonya): Huh? I think you misunderstood my intentions with that post.
I replied to comment #27 where Andy talked about that it would be silly to purchase expensive and exotic PPC hardware just for using this software. I merely pointed out that those interested in that expensive and exotic hardware (the AmigaOne I assume) surely appreciates beeing able to run this kind of software on it rather than buying the hardware for the sole purpose of running this application.
You surely don't need to remind ME that Candy Factory 2 is an AmigaOS4 product. |

Happy trolling! |

Posted by Hooligan/DCS on 14-Mar-2003 13:44 GMT | Sad to see a good news end up as a war once again. Nice going. I myself think it will be for OS4 first, but as the sells will be poor, Zeoneo is forced to make a MOS port. Or can someone recall an Amiga app which author is a millionaire these days? Now with this divided market, even LESS chances of good sells if it's for one platform only.
On the other hand, if they don't want my money and have it only for OS4, thats fine by me. |
