Italian Ikir Sector interviewed here Elena Novaretti, a long-time Amiga-user who is known for her nice fractal work. She is now working on a MorphOS fractal application. Read the automated English translation here.

A pity that the English translation is really bad.
I wish we had more users like Elena :)

Always loved fractals and it's good to see there's one cool program coming to MorphOS too :) Maybe getting my Peggy next week. fingers & toes crossed here.

I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. Read this page to understand why: http://www.elena-fractals.it/FAQ.htm

Good luck with your ZX Elena. I played a bit with a beta you send me some time ago and it was already really nice, so I can only imagine how the "final" realease will be. I'm not a specialist, but I really appreciate your work and appreciate you like programmer, Artist (...and naturally like Friend! ;-)). Like you well know this week I will finally receive my Pegasos (this time Bill will send it here, you already have "one" ;-D) so maybe I'll be able to try the new version of ZX on it.
See you soon...

P.S. Your stamp of "Underground" fractal is always on the wall of my room and, believe me, it has received really big attention from many people. Everyone has come here have noticed it!
....maybe also because of your funny signature "for Miky060, by Elena (ORIGINAL...!!!)" :-DD

I read the FAQ - obviously missed something. Tell me what the disappointment is please?

Funny you say you read the FAQ, since it seems you've missed one entire question+answer:

---8>---

Q: WHY don't you release ZoneXplorer to the public? May you at least send a copy
to me privately ?

A: Please read the TechInfo section. I'm fed up with similar questions.
ZoneXplorer will be released ONLY when I implement module encryption since
I'm afraid of disassembling and reverse engineering on the formulas. Also,
actually I'm having no much time to develop it further until I'll get my
working Pegasos computer. ZX works nicely but is still unfinished and not
ready for the "big" public. Actually it requires some know-how not everybody
may have. And it runs on Amiga only... But if you REALLY think you may need
it and could use it successfully (read: you think you're an expert and CAN
write your own formulas) and you've got some sort of Amiga (possibly MorphOS
or Amithlon for speed reasons) we could discuss the matter and I might decide
to send you a copy privately just for your own purpose...
---8>---

That should answer your question.

Let me make some comments on the Elena's answer, now. She says that she will release the program, and specially the formulas - which are the only important thing - only when she finds a way to encrypt them and not let people disassemble them. Well, Elena is likely to never find that way, since doesn't matter if the formulas are encrypted on the disk, because once they are loaded into memory they have to be decrypted, and AmigaOS/ABOX is notoriously lacking MP.

Even if there were MP available, though, one could always find a way to access other processes' memory, one can do that even on linux.

I suggest Elena to just try to publish her studies on some scientific magazines: that's the only way to protect her work.

Please stop the war :-)
ZoneXplorer 1.0 will be released soon both for MorphOs and for 68K
(Amithlon strongly suggested for the 68K version). Really many things
have been changed from the early betas I gave confidentially to
friends, testers or MorphOS developers. Module encryption is fully
finished and functional. Actually I'm working on the indipendent
renderer engine, the last thing missing for 1.0. Yes, I know that
modules are in memory once decrypted but that's better than nothing.
If somebody is so motivated to disassemble the entire RAM searching
for "good promising" FPU code, good luck :-)
ZX will be available on my web page and on Aminet when it's ready.
Please note that *ALL* the textual sections on my site are OBSOLETE.
They will be updated as soon as I have the time.

P.S GREAT Miky ;-)

I'm afraid it will be much easier than disassembling the entire ram: it's enough to track what ZX loads, and disassemble just that.
