The new soundcard Delfina by individual Computers was introduced successfully last weekend at the AmiGBG show in Gothenburg, Sweden. Meanwhile, all important European dealers have been supplied, so the anticipated delivery date of April 7th can be kept without problems. The module that is available now is ready to be used on nearly any Amiga. The included 22-pin cable for the A1200 clockport can also be used to connect to an X-Surf Ethernet card in a "bigbox" Amiga.

Probably the most important reason to buy this card is the DSP, the digital signal processor. For example it allows playing back MP3 nearly without CPU load. MP3 is a popular audio format that is also used by artists to put demos on the internet. Free music samples and full titles are available on sites like Entertainment-Mafia. With the Delfina, an Amiga can playback MP3 even without an accelerator in the best possible quality.

Hmm, good seeing you last week, Jens. Will you have drivers for MP2 (Mpeg Layer 2), OGG, AC3 etc. in the future? I mean, MP3 is good and all, but... :-)

I just got the new A1200 motherboard from Gunne operational with OS3.9, maybe I should invest some? BEen given a decent offer for an Access 1200 motherboard as well, so gotta choose wisely :-)

But its an Amiga related product. You can't just go delivering Amiga related products on schedule; we're not used to it. Some people may pass out or die of shock! Do you want that on your conscience?! ;)

So will this card fit in a A1200 desktop somehow?

Does this card have a Headphone output ?
I'm interested in this card, but I need to be able to use my
headphones when I use it out of my home....in demoparties for example,
for music composition. I use my Towered A1200+Mediator+SB128 this way
already, but I also plan to de-tower a 2nd A1200 to put it back to its
original case to make it more "portable".
BTW, I'd really like to now if it can play smoothly under DBPro. I
guess it can, thanks to the memory buffer, but I'd like
confirmation. On the Concierto for example, it's juste unuseable (OK
its doesn't have any buffer though...)

Holy cow!!! "ON SCEDULE AND ROCKING!"

(hell, you could use that as the soundcard's trademark phrase :)

In reply to Comment 3 (Dan Andersson):
I would say that pretty much depends on how much other shit you've crammed into there ;-)

"Does this card have a Headphone output ?"

Its probably a standard line out so might not be able to drive a pair of chunky cans ;)
But headphone pre-amps aren't expensive and If your not afraid of homebrew electronics you could probably make up something similar to the mixer/preamp that was in cu amiga many moons ago for a few quid/currency of choice using free samples from peeps like maxim.

/me does all his homebrew electronics from free samples and lab raids :)

In reply to Comment 7 (corpse):
It got a RCA-output (Audio right, Audio left), so you need a 2 x RCA (male) -> Freestyle plug (female) adapter in order to use it with headphones.

BTW, when a Swede says "freestyle" in "Swedish"(!), he really means "walkman". Just one of the ways that language has been fkd up.

Not sure, but I THINK, there might have been some serious error in that project...

In reply to Comment 10 (Jupp3):
There was indeed a slight fuckup in that project, but they corrected it on their webpage later (though, it was still not perfect, you need higher resistance to the CDDA input to prevent it from swallowing the amiga audio when not playing, also increasing the resistance in general is a good idea to prevent audio corruption on loud sounds)...

You might be able to find that page on some webarchive, otherwise I think I might still have a copy of it... ;)

In reply to Comment 8 (Johan "Graak" Forsberg):
Sure, but if the sound is not pre-amp'ed, you'll hear almost nothing.

A couple of years ago I bought a small Behringer mixer, and has been pleased ever since.
Probably the most bang for buck buy I ever did for the amigas :)

Just pick one that fits your needs, they arent expencive either, can you afford the delfina, then such a mixer (with buildt in amps) is certainly no challenge :)

I think mine worked, the Airlink on the other hand didn't to start with ; sent it to the people that were doing the deal with CU on the chips/infra leds etc and they sent it back saying nothing was wrong but half the bits had changed inside lol.

Heh, I built that one too, and it worked beautifully, infact I started work on a prog to remote-control the Amiga via a simple to set up dock that you could navigate with your CD/TV/VCR remote control, but sadly I never finished it. :P
