SnoPUG webpage is now online and available for public consumption! Greetings everyone! The Snoqualmie Pegasos User Group (SnoPUG) webpage is now online! Point that browser to www.snopug.org and check it out! And, if you are in the Northwestern United States and are using a Pegasos and/or MorphOS, please feel free to join up! This page has been tested with V on MOS, Netscape 4.7x and Mozilla on the Mac and Windows and it works in all these places. Please note, however, that the page has many modern, CSS dependant features which obviously require a more modern browser to view.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Thanks

Tronman!

Hey Tronman,

Nice site and great initiative! It's a little far for me to join a club meeting as described, but who knows - someday?

Cheers,
Ron

Nice site, and it actually works properly in Amiga/MorphOS web browsers..

One point:

"About MorphOS

MorphOS is a modern, microkernel architecture based operating system. Based upon the QNX Quark Microkernel"

QNX?

The QNX microkernel is named Neutrino, and MorphOS does NOT use that, does it?

There's a limited amount of ways to program a microkernel, so there might be some influences between them (I would certainly hope so, because otherwise there's a huge amoune of wheels being reinvented all the time :-) ). But Quark does not equal Neutrino, I think...

Yes, that's right. If you know that you have no proof and no logically valid arguments then you are always only left with a single course of action: Insults.

I agree, and man I thought I had seen it all but this is a new low to
refer to Amiga Inc. hardliners as the Ku Klux Klan. Whoever that is,
they don't represent Pegasos and MorphOS users. BBRV already came out
against all the bickering. I feel like quoting Rodney King or something.

As for the actual topic: SnoPUG has a nice, positive website. This is
what we need to rebuild the community and bring it back. I guess SnoPUG
is the first North American Pegasos users group. Good job.

Kernel is the german word for nucleus.
MorphOS uses a microkernel, so what`s best from using the name of the particles that the nucleus is consisted.

Hi everyone, I thank you for the positive feedback. I'm glad you like the site-that's probably why I didn't design it myself ;-) Credit must go to Dijidesign.com, www.dijidesign.com for that. He's also (for now) a one man show..

Here's a quote from the Morphos-news.de page which explains a bit about MorphOS, and which mentions the QNX Quark Microkernel:

The Structure of MorphOS

The MorphOS System is based around the minimalist Quark microkernel. On top of the kernel are currently two "Boxes" the first, currently in the final stages of development is the A-Box, the second box currently in
development is the significantly more advanced Q-Box.

At the time of writing (November 2002) most development has focused on the A-Box but considerable design work has been done on the Q-Box.

The A-Box can run Amiga RTG (Re-Targetable Graphics) applications as it includes a complete PowerPC native clean-room reimplementation of version 3.1 of the Amigas' Operating System (herein AOS) and a JIT (Just In
Time compiler) based 68K emulator.

The Q-Box on the other hand shall be new and will require it's own applications, but by including compatibility with Amiga applications through the A-Box, MorphOS is able to start with an existing, mature application base while
the Q-Box is in development.

It is also possible that in the future other boxes may be added allowing compatibility with applications from other operating systems. Possibilities here are to add Unix / Linux and BeOS application compatibility. It should
however be noted that these are only possibilities at this point and various issues have to be considered before adding compatibility for these systems.

And yes, Doug, there is currently only myself as a member but I went public with the intention of changing that, eh ;-) I'd like to see more folks using MOS, and provide whatever resources I can to help them do so.
So, since you seem to know me, do tell from where I know you?

Again, thanks everyone for the positive feedback!

Tronman!

I like to hear about new Pegasos/MOS initiatives, but my only misgiving about these user groups is that, with only ~1000 Pegasos's in the "wild" and no Pegasos's currently available to buy, can there be enough users in Snoqualmie to have a Snoqualmie users group? Maybe the launch of the user's group could have been postponed until September and the Pegasos II?

Keep up the good work, Tronman!

I got notification that my Pegasos was on its way - can't wait to get it fired up for digital audio and midi work/play starting with the MorphOS version of ProStation Platinum! Among other things - thesse are coming with lots of extra goodies : } ...Most of the people getting them through the Phoenix $299 offer/initiative have already received theirs, or should have gotten notification.

More Pegasos $299 packages with all the goodies will be available to current Phoenix members, incidentally, and that includes User Groups.

Also, BBRV and I have been talking about Yet Another T-shirt Initiative {YATI; } : For all User Group members and leaders who are currently doing MorphOS/Pegasos stuff or would like to be, and want to get support and offers from Genesi and Phoenix. We have a mailing list called PhUG and will be happy to provide web space for your groups, and we want to build support programs with your help and set up some more special offers for all of you ...

But didn't I say T-SHIRT? Yes! We want to ship all you UG people T-shirts - with Genesi graphics on one side and whatever graphics/logo your User Group chooses on the other side.

No coupons required; just email me...
