Since you posted what you already posted on Amiga.org, I'll do the same : }}} :

Nothing wrong with 20 more boards in addition to the hundreds that have already shipped, nothing wrong with making more and more included software available for all those who have gotten boards previously (more to come!), nothing wrong with throwing in more T-shirts and stickers. It's good to see people getting happy about developing, starting user groups, coding demos...

And nothing wrong with properly funded ventures.

Who? Genesi? :)

Nah, just kidding here, but still, the total number of machines does not make a valid platform, it's still way too early to celebrate, once the cap of 20000 is passed, then you can start thinking about a microscopic platform, once the cap of 200000 is passed, then you're getting somewhere, and get even further & you might even show up on M$'s radar (wether that's a good thing or not, i do not know)

But as it is now, MOS is still as "big" as AOS3.x, it's a microbe in the world of computing

(This isn't meant to be negative, the same is valid for AOS4 when it comes out, it's just that you have to keep an eye on reality too you know)

How are the arexx part of the OS and utilities solved ? required to buy OS3.9 to copy over Sys:rexxc/rx to the morphos partition ?

A special low price offer for developers has to be a good thing. And you get a motherboard and CPU for not much more than the price of PSA on its own.

You can only gain developers or users one by one. If this offer adds three more programs to the platform, that will help. I still think that any sensible developer will code for as many kinds of Amiga and Amiga-like computer as possible.

Still making the rounds from Amiga.org eh? So once again I'll do the same and paste essentially the same reply:

If MorphOS is to be called a beta it is a remarkably good one for early adopters. And the hardware is immaculate; I expect it to work for a looooong time as a result.

Something not quite right because a company wants to provide good value and realizes it must, to have a growth future in a competitive marketplace? (Even for the geek niche this is surely true.)

No: things are as right as they can be, all things considered. Genesi wants to do well, and it is taking steps to make early adopters, geeks, developers happy, and to deal with setbacks constructively. And there is a certain generous spirit, I think, that informs this.

Morphos is killing you Amiga bit by bit and it will end with no OS4 and Morphos stuck in beta status.

Stop supporting morphos and Pegasus before the Amiga is finally killed off for good.

Support Amigaone and OS4 and please do not purchase a pegasus.

No, the ARexx reimplementation is not finished yet (and will not be for a while yet) .. however all the executables are now (RXLIB/RXSET/RX/etc), including rexxsupport.library, so no, you will not have to buy the legally dubious OS3.9...

Until then however you will have to use your legally obtained copy (either bought directly from Hawes, or the one that comes with 3.1) of RexxMast and rexxsyslib.library if you want a fully working ARexx...

@takemehomegrandma and everyone else...;-)

We will have 600+ Pegasos I machines out there when this current production is fully distributed and all the exchanges have been made. In the meanwhile, MorphOS continues to be increasing useful. It is stable now and it is hardly in "beta," as someone suggested. What we are doing with this offer is continuing to entice intelligent computer-literate people to use the machine and help us to make it better. That is the simple reason for the offer we have made. Plus, we are tuning the infrastructure to support REAL sales to a broad market through the Internet. We need REAL people to use the system to do that. This applies to MorphOS too.

Our focus for MorphOS today is to add functionality and improve the spectrum of applications that work well with the OS and the Pegasos platform. All this effort accumulates and sums to the introduction of the Pegasos II and the Pegasos STB. The Pegasos II will be a very functional, alternative PPC platform that will continue to be attractively priced. We believe it will draw widespread interest. It will work with more than MorphOS. So, even if the Pegasos was purchased to run a version of Linux, BeOS, BSD or whatever, it will also come with MorphOS and MorphOS WILL be driven into the market. Further, the STB will be a scaled down version of the Pegasos that will be well tuned to leverage small footprint of MorphOS.

The development platform for the Pegasos II and the Pegasos STB is the Pegasos I. For us this is a good basic plan and one that is being implemented today...now! Those that want to be involved can be, those that do not want to be involved do not have to be. Neither side needs to throw mud. We can coexist here and in other places. From the MorphOS and the Pegasos side we have called a truce to this fighting a couple of months ago. We are focused on the future. Please join us if you find the $299 a good offer...:-D

Best regards,
Raquel and Bill

Why have AmigaInc stopped supporting the Amiga market? They cant even mail out a bunch of lousy t-shirts, and their webmaster pockets the money from HIS paypal account and postalbox in the USA (AmigaInc don't have a REAL street address!).

For all we know, as THE Amiga.com webmaster HE could be posing as fleecy@amiga.com and making up all those ASK FLEECY CRAP question and answers.

> Support Amigaone and OS4 and please do not purchase a pegasus.

Why do I want to buy an overpriced Linux box designed by a company MAI who not know asbsolutely NOTHING about what Amiga is or how to make one?

I will buy whatever hardware I WANT to buy, so if it is a Pegasos then so be it!
You wont stop me, you foolish opinion only makes me want a Pegasos system more!

We are not known as level headed computer people - which is good :p However, this insanity must stop. Why cant you support BOTH AOS4 and MOS? I for one have a Peg and a Cyberstorm 4000T which will run OS4 whenever it comes out. Here are some facts:

1. Genesi has some money Ainc does not

2. Genesi has kept all its promises to the community

3. Genesi has spent money on the community

4. They have delivered a working OS product to the public

5. They are great with customer relations and have a decent support network

6. The Phoenix deal was a steal!

Keep it up guys!

BTW Lets get that FTP up with PSA, MOS1.3 ISO, and Debian!

See this for what it is. A Phenox promotion....

Perhaps you all should be more directly up front about the intentions.

My initial response was one of distaste as I preceived it as another elitist type of trolling bait for non-developers to feel left out about, of which most people on the Amiga boards are not developers.

And when I say "another" I do mean from the proprietary mindsets of Amiga and Amiga like systems.

up until now I didn't see anything really come from the Genisi direction in the spirit of elitism........ up until now......

The offer was made to Phenox (sp?) members of which if there were enough members to take the 20 offered up.......

Also the idea of others contributing ideas and feedback to those who will inturn exclude such help in the spoils of the applied values given, is a practice that needs to stop.

and the signing of NDAs...... is also therefore bullcrap.....

so this really does sound like some damn scheme of Amiga Inc....

Want a discount.... heres the bait to lure you in..... and heres the hook.

$299 bucks for a Pegasos is a great deal. I paid more than twice that for mine. I don't know the specifics of the Phoenix NDA, but the one I signed for Genesi was insignificant. It was anything but opressive or intrusive. In fact I think it expired. Maybe I will do a tell-all expose. "Wild parties and craziness behind the scenes in a freewheeling counterculture: I was a groupie for Genesi." ;)

You call it an advertisement on ANN. I call it an additional 20 converts waiting to be born again.

From an earlier post modified to be used here...;-)

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark (or read the Community)...

This lament is taken from Shakespeare's Hamlet. Hamlet was brooding over the wretched state of Denmark (and then incidentally compares the two kings, his father and his uncle Claudius as "Hyperion to a Satyr." We might not have used Hyperion as an example of the goodness of one, but never mind...;-)

Later, Hamlet says...

Fie on't! ah fie! 'tis an unweeded garden, that grows to seed; things rank and gross in nature possess it merely. That it should come to this!

This of course can be compared to the "community" in the months and years before. The situation today is a result of a rudderless past. So, what to do about it? Raquel and I are great advocates of what we call gardening. If you plant a garden and you ignore it, it's taken over by weeds. But if you keep at it, month after month, then it grows. We like the way the garden is shaping up!

:-)

Spring is here...so to speak! We promise to be good "gardeners!" Another 20 Pegasos in the market are seeds which will grow and help proliferate the platform...step by step. Weeds or seeds? What will it be?! :-)

As we just said on ANN: ..."Within a true "Community" of people of course there are differences. There *can* be different hardware, there can be different operating systems, and there should be different opinions about many things. Let us not forget we are human, computers are not. If we can share our differences intelligently with mutual respect for the dignity of others all these sites will improve in their usefulness.

We think there is far to much unnecessary "flaming" on all the sites. We have been a part of it. We reacted in kind. We have never been intimidated by any of it and we simply will not allow FUD to remain unanswered. What will stand in truth and fact in the future will be the action and the results developed by all involved. If your looking for "measure" we are ready for judgment. We can talk about it and genuinely seek to be the best we can at all we do. If your looking for a fight and you are bent on insults and personal attacks, take it somewhere else.

The "thread wars" are over. We need to work. Our future is on the road ahead. We can see where we are going and know how to get there."

Have a great day!

Sincerely,

Raquel and Bill
Genesi
