Don't the French know that shouting is impolite? Why else do they insist on writing their names as eg. "Benjamin VERNOUX", or even worse "VERNOUX Benjamin"? I vote for an immediate resolution to this pressing issue of grave international importance.

1. If you're older than 3 years, do not capitalize entire words that are not abbreviations/acronyms/headlines.
2. If you're older than 1 year, and not mentally retarded, put the last name last, and the first name first.

Aaah, feels good to have gotten that off my chest. :-)

Nice attack... Most people on the planet are retarded then, as the put the first
name first in non-formal occasions... I do it too.

In reply to Comment 3 (off topic!):
That's just a habit, not ment to offense anybody.
Just for example, in France, on most to-be-filled-in documents, the
last name is asked to be written in capital letters.

I guess that means french people take things too literally? :-)

(hint, official forms all over the world has the same practice. Doesn't mean we write our names as HVITMYREN all the time... ;-) )

What do you mean with "attack", TSAPANIDIS Alkis? Lighten up, TSAPANIDIS Alkis. No, I really wasn't being serious, TSAPANIDIS Alkis. I actually DON'T think that this is a matter of great international importance. It's called sarcasm. Please believe me, TSAPANIDIS Alkis!
):-
^^^ a happy French smiley written in the correct order just for you, TSAPANIDIS Alkis. ;-)

In reply to Comment 8 (JOKER Bad):
I only talked about your second point, not the first:) Indeed it seems wierd
that many french people write their surname in caps. :)
I always write my first name (Alkis) before the surname, while official rules
here state the opposite, it's a habit;)

France loves paperwork and paperwork has to be filled like that:
DECANINI Christophe.
This is how you write you name on all your copies at school.
I did write my name like that for a while.

BTW: the OpenPCI driver project is a nice one. It would be nice to see more people joining it.

It's really quite useful, that habit. That way, you can tell what is a person's surname. Japanese people often do that, since they put their names in the reverse order (like Hungarians), and if the surname is capitalised, there is no risk of confusion.
