We are just preparing to leave for Cebit.
We hope to catch up with many of you in Sydney between May 6th-8th.
If you are coming along to Cebit stop by Booth 561 in Hall 5 and you will finally get a chance to play with a Pegasos and MorphOS in action.
We hope to see you there.

Who is this mysterious "We"? Or do I assume some group of people/user/Gensi employees going to Cebit downunder to represent Gensi?

In reply to Comment 2 (Anonymous):
"we" as in boing.net, one would assume, since Scott runs it. Boing.net are Aussie distributors of both Amiga hardware and software, and frequently represent the Amiga platform at various industry shows down under.

Let's not turn this into another AmigaOne vs Pegasos thread. Scott is demonstrating that which is available to him, and should someone supply him with an AmigaOne/AmigaOS4 bundle I'm sure he would happily demonstrate that too.

Well, it has been a bit difficult for us as our key planner had a death in his family (his Mom) and the computers we intended to send to Australia are still in Poland (for three weeks stuck in Customs!!!) Nevertheless, the Victoria Pegasos Club is supporting our participation there with four members led by Scott Pringle. Francois Prowse, our first Pegasos User in from New Zealand, will be there Wednesday and Thursday to lend a hand. Francois founded the first Pegasos User Group in New Zealand and Scott the first, the VPC, in Australia. There are eight Pegasos Users in Australia and two in New Zealand (Hey, you have to start somewhere! ;-D ). Genesi's own Sebastien Lokhamkhouak will leave tomorrow from Paris arriving in Sydnet Tuesday to bring extra t-shirts and another Pegasos. Please stop by to try tha Pegasos and say hello!

Best wishes for a successful Show!

Cheers,

Raquel and Bill

We are all Amiga supporters here! That is what unites us, and that is why we all gather around these common community water holes such as ann.lu and amiga.org.

You won't find a lot of Amiga *INC* supporters though! Not here, not anywhere. There is a HUGE difference between being an Amiga supporter and Amiga *INC* supporter you know!

You bring up an interesting point, most sites have a number of lurkers.
This site, as near as I can tell, has a lower number of lurkers per
contributor than most. Still, it undoubtedly has some lurkers.

But you look at some of the other sites, where their popularity in terms of web traffic, can only be explained by lurkers, as the number of contributors couldn't possibly represent all the traffic. Specifically amiga.com and amiga.org. Well at amiga.com you'd expect that to be the case since they are more of a corporate website, and not as much of a discussion board (though they do have discussion boards in various places on the site).

Now, I can't say as I can entirely object to using the word 'attacked'...it could legitmately be used to describe some of the more vitriolic posts, but
fear of being 'attacked' is one way of saying, that most people do not
feel confident in their ability to express themselves in words, and fear
embarassment.

The real solution, is not to hope, that someday everyone is going to turn
into doves and sheep....which will never happen, but for these lurkers to realize they can jump in at anytime, and even if someone disagrees with them,
it isn't so bad.

Probably someone has criticized me, from time to time, I haven't noticed.
I probably wouldn't notice a baseball bat being swung repeatedly at my head either, but, in any event, all I can say, is the sting of criticism fades quickly and after time, a person cannot be so thin skinned any more.

I think it is probably true, that the lurkers do tend to be more pro-amiga.
It is almost always the case, that the more establish player has more silent
fans.

Nevertheless, one can look at the web traffic of the truly pro-amiga websites, and the truly morph-os websites...and see clearly..while the number of silent,
know-nothing fans, is probably in favor of amiga, it is also not something
that is an overwhelming silent majority either.

Things are gonna be complex for a while...methinks.

It will be better when OS 4 is out, then we'll at least go into another phase
of this....

and I, and I'm not alone, am looking forward to it, even if I wonder when it will actually happen.

I really believe "the competition" could care less what this kind of "Amiga supporter" looks like. Obviously this type will be of little value to whatever platform he supports.

@abuse

It is time to grow up guys.
Instead of spending your time trolling or feeding the trolls you should better enjoy your Amiga (or Pegasos), write a review, code something, design a webpage ...
That would contribute to the development of the platform instead of what you are doing here: wasting everyone's time and give people more opportunities to leave the platform.

Well, I know that we are many that support Amiga Inc, but maybe some are tired of all the insults, and therefor avoid posting here.

I support Amiga Inc - and I am proud of it. But, actually, I don't feel any need to say bad things about competitors that are out there.

Just came back from the show. The funny thing about this Cebit is that there are 3 companies represented which had roots in the Amiga - "GPSoft", "Genesi" & "Techmedia (a former Amiga/DTV dealer)

I caught up with Scott @ the Genesi stand...not bad. He had 2 machines set up. Had a play with Morphos - it seemed nice, if a little incomplete....I liked Birdie whatever-you-call it...scrolled ever so smoothly - like the old Amiga games :)

The Pegasos board itself is very small and neatly layed out. Looked very impressive.

I wish Scott all the best - the more competition the better. Hopefully we'll see the AmigaOne/OS4 at next years Cebit :)

I get my AmigaOne G4 this Saturday so me very happy atm

Cheers,
George.

Small report from Cebit...(wednesday)
Everything seems to be ok today. There are lot of people
interested by the Pegasos and there are more "open-minded" amiga users
interested than what I expected which surprised me a lot !

Last scoop : a OS4 betatester just visit our booth and want to buy
one of our Peggie to port his software for MOS !! That's unbelievable
!

Aussies and neo-zelanders are really very great people !

Things are going really well here at Cebit. The amount of interest is quite a astounding. Looks like Pegasos 2 will sell very well in Australia. I only wish we had more Pegasos 1 boards here now as many people want one.

There looks to be an IT show scheduled for September in Melbourne...can you say Pegasos 2 anyone...

I am about to go to Ceit for day three. I am now on the 2nd 64MB MMC in my camera so we should have a lot of good shots. Take care all and thanks to those who have visited and the kind words of support.

I called in for a look on Wednesday. I must say that I was quite impressed by both the Pegasos and MorphOS - I hadn't seen either before. It had a nice "Amiga" feel to it. I hope that the A1/OS4 combo captures that feeling as well - it's a real pity that there wasn't an Amiga stand, as originally proposed by Amiga Inc., so that we could compare.

Anyway, thanks for the T-shirt! Much better than my imaginary $50 Amiga one! :-)
