First update on Breakpoint and The Gathering releases was done today. 4 HIGH quality releases: "Light2/Iris", "Magia/The Black Lotus", "Timur Lenk/Spaceballs and Ephidrena" and last but not least "Fake electronic lightshow/Ephidrena". All HIGHLY recommended! Amiga Demoscene Archive

Nice update :)

The demo scene was what got me involved with the Amiga in the first place, and it's the thing that keeps me here as well. No other demo scene (and I've been involved with PSX, PC and PS2 scenes as well) has the same "scene feeling" (I don't know how to describe it) as the Amiga scene, or the feeling of friendship and cameraderie between the sceners.

I hope the new machines (A1 / Pegasos - whichever is your preference) will continue the legacy.

Speaking of demos, one of the first I ever saw on an Amiga (and used to draw people in to the Amiga with :) ) was one called "Nemesis" - now by today's standards it'd be considered pretty primitive; anyone know where I can get it? Starts out with you orbiting a planet, then a "black hole" type effect comes through the solar system you're observing, then you get sucked in. Very eerie music, if I recall. Good demo. Like 120k or something.

One of the demos I saw first was "Links megademo". The coolest loader music ever! :) I have a hard time finding it now though (had it as adf once, but a crash took care of that...).
I only bought my Amiga for playing games, but got it from a friend on the day I bought my Amiga and got sucked into the demoscene (no bigger success for myself, but I enjoyed it!)

Well, as long as where at the "first demo i saw", i'll at that the first Demo i Ever saw on Amiga was 'Wild Copper - Mega demo' man was that cool. it had me coming back for years, and i even think i still got the First disk i got it on. ahhh, the memories.

And once again, thanks to the A.D.A team, for keeping the memories alive, i'll properly be donating some logos in the near future (have to go dig for them).

@Lasse:
Yep, Wild copper was AMAZING. One of the first i saw and i still love it. About the logo gallery, this is something that will grow much in the future because there seems to be at least one good logo in every amiga demo.

I'm happy with this update because the quality of releases is extremely high and i'm happy i can say that in 2003!

If I remember correctly, the next MindCandy DVD will consist of Amiga-demos. have to check this when I get home though. I'd like to have such DVD .. maybe divided to two sections: Legendary Oldskool demos and the best ones from last ten years or so.

Dude! Your demos/intros were awesome. Any chance of a reunion to create something for OS4?

These demos look great, but it would be wonderful if the coders spent 2 hours to add CGX and AHI support to them...

Yep, Nemesis was the first Amiga demo I ever saw too. I've got it on
disk somewhere.... Done with lines and polygons; had an interactive
mode where you could move the "black hole" with the mouse and watch it
swirl the stars around.

Well, i don't think there will be a reunion of Polka B. for OS4 :-( , last i heard, most of the danish members (the ones that started the group) left the scene because of jobs and military service. and the group was mostly left in the hands of the German members, who switched it to a PC group.

But i know that i'll properly be coming back when OS4 is out, so it might attrackt some of the other members to come back too. :-)

You've gotta be kidding me! An interactive mode?! I never knew! All those years, I could've been playing with it! AUGH! *smacks forehead*.

If I can find that sucker and it'll run on WinUAE, I'm *there*. (BTW, I have seen a few old school demos that actually do run on WinUAE, believe it or not.)
