AmigaOne XE demonstration (first in US?) at the May National Capital Amiga Users Group meeting at 1PM Saturday, May 10th, 2003. Quote, from the newsletter, used without no permission whatsoever: "Friday a special delivery is coming from Software Hut. This May we we will be unveiling the new AmigaOne XE - the first American demo we know of. ...stuff about running *nix deleted...

Remember to bring a digital camera, and take LOTS and LOTS of pictures and post them online! And don't forget to tell us what software is bundled with the AmigaONE system, like Amiga Forever or UAE and Amiga Anywhere????

A CDR with Debian. I've seen individual dealers like KDE bundle UAE.

Amiga Forever is a Windows package so there would not be any point in bundling it with a PPC board. UAE is contained in the Amiga Forever package, and it's free to download so no point bundling it. Would be nice to get some licensed 3.1 ROM images though. And Amiga anywhere is... well, I don't think anyone really knows what it is, but it has no relevance to AmigaOne, will not run on it and hence no point bundling it.

So, no, you don't get a big bundle of software with the A1, just a Linux CD.

The A1 comes with Debian Linux and UAE including the A1200 3.1 "Magic Pack" software, OS4 is said to come later.

Well, I went to it, :) , and the 3.1 KS ROM images were included, apparently legally, too. And it looks like the 'Magic Pack' was included, because Scala MM300 was on there, and ran well, *without a dongle*. (background info: Scala has usually used a hardware dongle that plugs into the 'joystick' port - impractical for a machine without the custom CBM I/O chips. Magic Pack included a 'dongel-less' version of MM300.

We had two A1-XE Amigas at the Queens Amiga Users Group this Saturday.
One bare board and one towered running Debian Linux.

First demo in the US, depends what time was your demo ;)

I got mine from Compuquick the other came from Mr. Hardware.

The good news is there here.

Sorry but the Amiga user group L.I.C.A showed a G3 running SUSE Linux back last December 2000 and running UAE running OS 3.9 on the AmigaOne. They will have another showing of a G4 running Debian Linux this Friday at 8pm in New York.

Someone call me when they've got an OS to run on the A1 boards.

I've got plenty of systems I can run LINUX on here.
