it's all ann fault for not suporting amiga inc. mr kemp and decanni you should be ashamed of yourself for allowing evil pegasos advertising.

i'm off to amigaworld.net where i will never have to read these lies about amiga inc not being broke.
I bought 10 coupouns of amiga inc, i don't expect anything in return, i didin't even want the money going towards hyperion and os4 just to help mcewan and fleecy out..

Well, we knew the office had been vacated for months now, so this stuff was probably just in storage while creditors sorted things out. Still, it's sad to see the auction notice.

Sorry, but your words are completely hollow without something substantial from Amiga, Inc. to show the doom and gloom is not justified. *Everything* we hear about the company these days points to the same conclusion. Are you implying there's some positive reason for the auction? Come on, Ray, dispel the doom and gloom with your insider's insight. We're all ears.

Can’t tell if Cheesegrate is being funny. That post reads as a caricature of the Amiga user that people react strongly against—part myth / part reality, but a little weird. Maybe I’m reading too much into it.

Gary_c: Along those lines, I feel people always love conspiracy, it is built right into the Amiga mythos. There is a lot more going around of late; like it or not, one can’t deny that some were spread through Bill Buck’s recent comments, and others are based the facts: Amiga has had financial/legal problems and Hyperium’s work on the OS may be several months away. In any case, each piece of new information has to be taken in context, and this latest information means absolutely nothing. Amiga no longer has an office; that they have taken some of the equipment out of storage and sold it makes sense. I would have thought that this would have been done sooner. I’m sure they could use the money, but jettisoning extra supplies doesn’t mean they are on their last breath.

I don't know about Amiga, Inc. haters, but a lot of people who are just looking for some credibility in that operation are wondering what the heck is going on. The office/phone thing, the court cases, the mystery of the two CEOs, and now this (offshoot of the office thing). We get sarcastic LOLs from Ray and PR fluff from fleecy, but nothing official at amiga.com that lays everything out. True, they don't *owe* us any explanation, but the result of that course is all this speculating and flaming. If they only had the serious haters to worry about, they wouldn't have a problem, but they seem to be putting off a lot more people than just the misanthropes.

Right, but there's also a lot of desire for honest communication.

>like it or not, one can’t deny that some were spread through Bill Buck’s recent comments,

Probably to some extent he has stoked the fire, but the spark and the fuel were already provided.

>and others are based the facts: Amiga has had financial/legal problems and Hyperium’s work on the OS may be several months away.

Hyperion's got a big job to do and I think they're doing great under the circumstances. Yes, Amiga, Inc. has had problems, and their attempted solutions have led them away from the old userbase and away from what we've known as an Amiga company. But that's just my own opinion.

>In any case, each piece of new information has to be taken in context, and this latest information means absolutely nothing. Amiga no longer has an office; that they have taken some of the equipment out of storage and sold it makes sense. I would have thought that this would have been done sooner. Right, it's possible this is part of some plan that makes sense and points toward a brighter future for the company (and I'm not being sarcastic). The thing is, we get one image that's big on happy talk and short on real-world specifics from the official sources, and another "behind the curtain" image that's just one seedy revelation after another, and there seems to be at least a kernel of truth to most of these revelations. Why won't Amiga, Inc. staff (ideally Bill McEwen as CEO, to prove at least one rumor wrong) go public (verifiably public, not just a message on the web site with his name typed at the bottom) and address all these nagging questions honestly and directly, so the shows in front of and behind the curtain aren't at odds any more?

Tell the truth Ray. Amiga has NOTHING to DO with this auction. Didn't any of you notice that this auction is NOT being hosted by AMIGA, but by one of it's CREDITORS?

Yes, that's right. Amiga's old landlord! Amiga will get NOTHING from this auction, and they are powerless to stop it one way or the other. Funny how they'll "spin" this as a management decision.

Well for one thing, look at the address. Amiga doesn't have access to their old office anymore, and the auction has a preview location at their old office.

I guess its possible they have a new office, but they left their old one because it was cost efficient and they didn’t need the space.

The creditor running this auction is Inception Group LLC. (I asked them) They took Amiga to court, Amiga didn't pay, and IGLLC locked the office doors untill Amiga could pay. Amiga never paid. IGLLC is now auctioning off everything in the office to put towards the tens of thousands owed to them. None of this came from storage, this equipment has been under lock and key by IGLLC ever since they locked Amiga out.

I agree with your summation of the facts. The problem I have in general, and there are a lot of thing that bug me about the politicing on both sides, is that people treat Amiga as if it is supposed to be some sort of buddy. Companies change directions, they make misjudgments. Amiga went the wrong way the first few years in the hands of their current owners. If they wanted to secure a better future for themselves and their OS they should have worked coterminously on both the DE (if we grant them their initial upbeat evaluation of the product) and OS4. Now they put a little spin in their reassessment of their strategy. But of course they do, they're not our buddy; they are a company, and must play by the rules wherein brutal honesty is very risky. However, so is the silent treatment, as you noted. The problem is that people become irascible too easily and act like they had some sort of intimate relationship with the organization wherein they must take a side on every little bit of new or rumor based on some overriding emotion. What happens is that people make too big a deal about everything that happens concerning Amiga; they complain about things like Amiga firing some of their employees or Amiga owing (or disputing) a few thousand dollars in rent. None of this has any real significance and if people dug so deeply into every company nothing would ever get done. Let them make their mistakes and find their way; plasticity is a positive trait as the alternative is death. / Slay the fanatic in us all. :)

Obviously, this is not directed at you (Gary_c).

That has been a rumor that has been going around; it doesn’t change the fact that they appear to have downsized and didn’t really need a large office. I’m not calling you a liar but the court case with Inception was thrown out by the judge. Also, if you called them, as you claim, you must have had a jump on this news because it is early in the morning. Also, Amiga appears to be doing this in their name. If you ask for the auction book you’ll have a good sense of what they are selling and can then draw your own conclusion as to the extent of the sell-off.
