Gradients are included in MUI PPC for MorphOS 1.4. Check it out HERE! This is an unofficial screenshot. MUI is using gradients in realtime, they are not bitmaps.

From OS4 features PDF:

"OS 4.x native MUI

As many applications use MUI, the well-known GUI engine, the latest version of MUI will be included with OS 4.x.
The OS 4.x OEM version of MUI has a predefined look which closely matches the OS 4.x default look and which cannot be customised by the user without registering MUI separately."

Doesn't matter, since I've registered MUI years ago. But if MUI is developed only on morphos it doesn't make sense.. porting of software os4<->morphos comes once again harder (if people are using new features of mui)

According to their webpage, GGS Data in Sweden (www.ggsdata.se) has Pegasos in stock. Not at the Phoenix special developer's price though, but you will be qualified to upgrade to the PegasosTwo for only €/$200, so it will still be a good deal! I bought my Pegasos at this price and I am quite happy with that!

Blame those who want exclusive contracts. Don't know if this is the case, but a certain company is rumured (yeah) to be recruiting Amiga coders to make exclusive contracts. They do everything to support the Amiga community don't they? I bet they do even better to support their pockets.

In reply to Comment 31 (José):
The story is as follows!

Hyperion have licensed MUI from Stefan Stuntz. This means that Hyperion got
access to MUI 3.9. What they have is MUI 3.9 *API* and the source code that
implements it.

The code that Hyperion has does not have the "fluff" that MUI for MorphOS
has.

All this time between MUI 3.8 and MUI 3.9 Stefan Stuntz and David Gerber and
Ralph Schmidt and Frank Mariak have been good friends. There was/is a seperate
MUI source code tree that they all maintained together that explicitly
supported some nifty CyberGraphX-only features like blending and transparency,
only available on using some private internal link libraries.

Many members of the Vapor team, plus "famous" MUI authors like Alan Oodgaard
(TextEditor.mcc, MUIPopPatch, fabled iProbe browser) were using this "fancy"
version for years. All it does, really, is look a lot prettier :)

Anyway, this code isn't a major part of MUI. It's really a side effect of some
fun features some 3rd-party coders added to it. It just so happens that all
these 3rd-party coders just HAPPEN to be working on MorphOS now. REALLY, this
is a TOTAL coincidence, not relevant at all.

The OS4 team wouldn't have been able to use ANYTHING of these extra "additions"
anyway, since they required a private CGX tool library anyway (usually used
for things like internal CGX components), and they don't use CGX on their OS.

So this is why there are two versions of MUI. They're compatible as far as
the API goes (besides some stuff that's been added to the MorphOS version
since..) but unless Hyperion added the same amount of glitz and glamour, the
MorphOS version has much more of THAT particular feature.

Since Hyperion consider MUI a "legacy" and that you should use Reaction anyway,
I doubt all you OS4 supporters should even give a shit.

I take it you would rather sell ten copies of your program than twenty?

That is a fine attitude if you are a rich amateur programming for a hobby. A sensible programmer would want his software to work on as many "Amigas" as possible.

OK,

so it won't prevent MUI apps from working on OS4, but as the official toolkit is reaction, they won't make efforts to modernize / license it etc.

On the other hand, I guess reaction apps will have much more trouble running on MOS ?

In current versions of MorphOS, definitely.

In newer versions, no. The BOOPSI system is so transparent in it's
functionality that cloning APIs like that is a trivial matter. AROS have most
of the OS3.1 gadgets done. The advanced colorwheel/gradient gadgets from OS3.9
are AROS ports, for instance.

For the more esoteric Reaction gadgets, it just requires work.
