Another whole month has gone by, which means that it's definitely time for another status update...

Read more about it, and also check the screenshot showing real time gradients in action!

Gradients were "in" when we were using the copper from the custom chip.
It was a sad loss for me when going to graphic card.
I wonder why it was not implemented before.

about real time gradients in action, is it possible to make the gradients
cycle ? as in going from one color -> another color -> another color and so on..would look cool as a backdrop :)

Given that it's possible to change backgrounds at run time (standard MUI feature), it's perfectly possible to also update the gradient with different colors. However, I just tested this with Zune and noticed a few quirks... Thanks for making me test that, thanks to you some more bugs will be hunted now :)

Looks great! Thanks for all the hard work you and the other Devs have been putting into AROS.

Nice to see shaping AROS up more & more, this project is looking more promising day after day :)

Altough i don't see why people are all obsessing about gradients all of the sudden ;)

Cheers

How about some bright colours, for that classic copper feel ;)

Would someone please code something useful like patch for the AmigaOS which would add gradient to window borders :) I mean birdie like patch which would create gradient from eg. dark blue in left to light blue in right.
I'm not interested in gradients in buttons or windowborders etc, but that birdie type patch would be cool :)

How easy would it be to port Zune to AmigaOS? Did anyone ever try?

So you're interested in gradients on window borders or not?

Anyway, Birdie2000 already has them.

One of the main Zune contributors, Sebastian Bauer, works exclusively on AmigaOS, so Zune is already ported to AmigaOS :)

Hey guys,

I can't seem to get the latest AROS build working on my computer - I downloaded and burnt the ISO to cd, and can get the screenmode menu up, but then I just get a black screen (no matter what mode I choose).

Any ideas?

Thanks, Ian :-)

AFAIK, not. However, you're free to compile Zune for AmigaOS by yourself. Sebastian uses SAS-C for this.

Is it possible to get ZUNE without downloading the 30Mb+ contrib archive? Why distribute AROS like this BTW? Ever thought about a RPM type system?

Zune is part of the core sources since some weeks now. Anyway, you can't download modules separately, no.

> Why distribute AROS like this BTW?

Well, it's the easiest way, and the build system doesn't allow for something better (sooner or later we'll replace it with something better).

> Ever thought about a RPM type system?

If you mean that we should build many RPM packages with the single programs, well, it's not feasible right now. If instead you meant that we should make an RPM out of the whole AROS binary package, it's not worth the effort, as you can just download the tarball, decompress it somwhere, and run AROS from there.

Try booting from dvd drive.

Or try removing/re-inserting cdrom after boot when AROS seems to not do anything
anymore.

This is a small bug report:

AROS crashes if the drawer name is to long:

sys:AROS-030528-contrib-all/ will "crash the system"/"make the system unstable, slow response"

if you drag a icon and release it then the window background
gfx overwrite the window border with one pixel,
the contrib file do not contain needed library's for DOPUS and FILEMASTER. etc.

Well The the library's are not provided with AROS.sf.net contrib version,
and it's not included with the AROS-System-Linux version,
not even inn the 20030530 contrib, and the 20030529 system-linux,
where is AHI it not provided with AROS way?
