Amiga Only? Nah, i'll pass then, don't want to break down the work the author
put into this app, and i'm sure it's usefull for many people, but *another*
propriaty format?

It's bad enough we have to have clients for stuff like AOL, ICQ & MSN already

Cheers

AmiComSys was here before there were any ICQ clients for AmigaOS.
I still have a key for it somewhere :)

Let me be the first one to say "THIS PROGRAM IS GREAT!!!" I used it for a whole year to talk with my wife back in the US from 98-99 when I was stationed in Okinawa Japan. In response to "It's bad enough we have to have clients for stuff like AOL, ICQ & MSN already " Those are great if your other PC is a PC. I personaly like supporting the Amiga programer whenever possible!! WONDERFUL program.

I do actually agree with you, unfortunatly, it would be better if there were
all available to other platforms aswell, we're a minority, and we shouldn't be
supporting isolation by using our own chatservices & whatnot, it's bad enough
Microsoft is doing these things.

In an ideal world all these apps, ICQ, MSN, AOL, whatever should understand
eachothers

cheers

That's a good point, but in an ideal world, we wouldn't have judges on the bench who can remember when there weren't any computers.

I agree very much. It IS a GREAT program. I've used it for a while. I don't use StrICQ nor do I care to use any AIM programs when chatting with fellow Amiga users. It has a nice File Transfer & chat window as well as other things. I'm glad I registered it. It also has some nice security features.

Actually, when I first heard about ICQ, many years ago, I immediately thought, "Oh, they've cloned AmiComCenter, but they'll become millionaires".

However, the concerns about limiting oneself to a single platform aren't valid, since it comes with a Hotline plugin, and Hotline is multi-platform (once with a certain Mac bias).
A shame that it would immediately crash on my Amiga, but hopefully this has been fixed now.
