Amiga OS 4.0 on Tour starts. : Comment 51 of 53 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Iggy Drougge on 09-Jun-2003 02:40 GMT | "Then I guess you could call the next release 4.00000001, the release after that 4.00000002, and so on!"
AmigaOS version numbering doesn't work that way. If OS 3.x were to be upgraded once more, the version following 3.9 would be 3.10.
So while there could well be an OS 4.10000000 or 4.20000000, something like OS 4.00000001 would just be a nonsense version. |

Amiga OS 4.0 on Tour starts. : Comment 52 of 53 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Golem on 09-Jun-2003 06:24 GMT | In reply to Comment 51 (Iggy Drougge): Actually that's not how it works for OS releases, look at the 2.04 -> 2.05 -> 2.1 releases for example, or the WB 1.3.x revisions. Only the individual OS components use two integers to represent version and revision.

Amiga OS 4.0 on Tour starts. : Comment 53 of 53 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Gareth Knight on 09-Jun-2003 09:26 GMT | Interesting. On an aesthetic level the designs are reminiscent of the proposed 'Dream Amiga' that Amiga Format brainstormed in 1996. Congrats to everyone at Hyperion, testers and everyone else involved with the product. |
