Did you not get your Pegasos 1 in time? Genesi is sold out of stock, but apperantly there are still a few Pegasos 1 in stock at some resellers. You can now buy these Pegasos 1 at the price of €299 if you join the "Phoenix" developer community. Genesi will compensate the resellers for this price drop directly.

From personal experience, I am happy to recommend GGS Data, (e-mail Gunne Steen at gunne@ggsdata.se). There might be others available too, for instance http://www.pegasos-uk.com/, or http://www.efunzine.com/, or other places (do your own research if you are interested).

Happy hunting! :-)

Hi TMHG,

We are not selling any at http://www.pegasosppc.com, as we sold out some time ago. Resellers who bought from us and still have boards is something else...:-) Hope this helps them out and we are ready to begin selling the new G4 card soon. The bplan guys are tweaking the card now.

Good morning, Raquel & Bill!

So your offer is indeed directed to all dealers, not just Pegasos-UK?

So when you said it was sold out, you meant that the dealers had bought up your stock.

So the sales figures aren't POS they are B2B. So what are the real number of Pegasoses out in the wild?

In reply to Comment 5 (DaveP):
Yes, DaveP that is what it means. Although, honestly the whole situation caught us a bit off guard. We did not know the Resellers still had stock or we not have announced the new pricing so soon. It was an error on our part, which is why we need to extend the Phoenix offer. We cannot leave the Resellers hanging...

Anyway, there are roughly 600 Pegasos machines in the "wild" with the last batch going out next week to developers (not for sale).

Cheers!

...one other short note.

As indicated on this thread and the other just above the market for the Pegasos and A1 in THIS market has been grossly over-estimated by the Community. The number of people that talk about buying something and the people that actually do it is significant.

Having said that within the small group of 600 Pegasos owners nearly 20% bought Knights and Merchants! Now if we can just keep those financial percentages flowing into e.p.i.c. and others as the installed base grows!

Anyway, to seperate the talkers from the do-ers, we will be sponsoring a new feature later this year on some of the Community sites..."Welcome to the Trusted Community." You have to have a Pegasos to get in...;-) It will be an extension of the very successful Betatester II mailing list, which by any measure has been a huge success.

Best wishes,
Raquel and Bill

I hope that doesn't mean that 80% pirated it - no wonder Hyperion don't want to port OS4 to the Pegasos!!! ;-)

Seriously, unless the owners of the AmigaOne/Pegasos support the software houses after they've bought the hardware, any chances of OS4/MOS have of becomming a sucess are about zero. Of course, this doesn't mean that we have to buy "naff" games just to keep programmers interested in our platforms, but hopefully we'll all think twice about downloading "warez" in future. It would also help all software houses if the Pegasos and AmigaOne had a common OS... like OS4 or perhaps we'll start seeing games released like "Populous" was with an Amiga and AtariST version on the same disks...

Hoping for "software houses" seems a bit over the top (are there any Amiga software houses to begin with ?) but as to individual developers supporting the Pegasos, wait and see, the official launch was only last autumn and developing software takes time. Also, some developers are still waiting to have a look at OS4 before they will decide if they go the Pegasos2 or the A1 route, that stalls everything.

Btw, having sold that software to 20% of all owners of the targeted hardware in such a short time is truly amazing, as everybody selling Amiga software should know, normally you don't even reach 5% of the targeted audience (after years).

Thats strange ... I remember being told that ~600 Pegasoses had been sold to the Linux community alone.

Argh... Not again... There was a deal with Terrasoft to sell Pegasos boards with
YDL to the Linux community.
They ordered x machines. They decided they didn't want it anymore... They pull
back the order. Everything goes to the Amiga community and to MorphOS or other
OS developers.

So saying those boards were sold was basically a little white marketing lie ;)

No, it was no lie... Genesi sold them, they are not in their stock anymore...

BTW, with the Phoenix deal still going on, it's a a safe investment,
299E for Pegasos 1 and 200E for the upgrade = 499E, the Pegasos 2 G4 price.
You don't lose a penny.

I no longer have the e-mail containing those figures , but I believe your words were along the lines of : n pegasoses have gone to the Linux community , With (y<n) in the amiga community with n+y=~1000 .... your language suggested that those boards were already "gone" as in out of the door and paid for.

I suggest you play with the truth once in a while instead of optimistic exaggeration.

Hey corpse, the numbers were 817/1000 and those were the numbers and nothing was hyped. It was a post to try to explain to this Community that if they wanted to build up a new user base they needed to attract new users. Many things changed when the Articia problems came to the surface.

corpse, do you think you are the amiga truth police? If so perhaps you should focus on a number of more blatant offenses...or maybe we could should transition to the DaveP recommended golden rule for posting.

All Rise!

Judge corpse presiding!

Please be seated. (Man the keyboards!)

Bailiff: We are here today to form an opinion after careful consideration of all concerned: we will judge intent; we will judge character. Judge corpse is here to hear (here, here) and decide on in the court of ANN whether or not bbrv is to be found guilty of the charges alleged against them! In addition Judge corpse acts with the further authority of the powers that were, thus the *corpse tribunal* has been granted special ecclesiastical jurisdiction from the Kommunity Kult.

Today's Court is now open to determine and declare after extensive consideration and careful deliberation whether or not bbrv is guilty!

The Court is now open...

Maybe, we should alter the rules here...this could be a *court* of another kind...an open level area marked with appropriate lines, upon which a game, such as tennis, handball, basketball, or yes, you guessed it, PegPong is played!!!

We will check back in a few hours...will it be an open session of the Ecclesiastical Tribunal of the Kommunity *Name* Kult, Judge corpse presiding (corpse corpse, get it?!) or an action packed game of PegPong emPowered with the presence of the PegasosPowerRanger machine! That's PegPR for short!

I never saw that side of you, Lennart. I mean, there are references within those posts that anybody who has been watching for awhile would understand and see the remapping. So is it insanity, or is it just a little more fanciful than you guys think someone who owns a company should act?

I'd say the way this community operates that sanity would look insane if it wore a hat that was not the hat that it came in with. Maybe it's a lampshade at a party. Why all the personality attacks and antagonism (not from you Lennart, but from a variety of others). The mood is ugly, and it won't make a bit of a difference to the succes of failure of anyone's chosen platform. It doesn't even resemble honest debate, it's just personal attacks of varying levels of meanness and all it really does, is show how ugly people can be to each other.

I'd prefer levity, mild satire, referential madnezz any day of the week. And I dont' even PLAY pong ; }
