Seems that MOS becomes an OS with one GUI-Toolkit per app. Some consistency please?

Blender has its own GUI, much like Imagine. There's no much one can do about it.

It's about time we have a new 3D program that is
modern and updated. I look forward to trying
this out. GUI looks nice. I really enjoy the
custom GUIs of Imagine and Lightwave, they are
more suitable for 3D work. Hopefully blender
follows in this tradition.

Lightwave seems to work on MorphOS. I don't know how to use Lightwave but I did boot it, select some options and move things around. It doesn't look as nice or seem as advanced as that screenshot (http://zapek.meanmachine.ch/blender_snapshot001.jpg) of Blender though.

Yes, LightWave works OK. But until the "jit" arrives the
interface is a bit slow and it will be nice to have a PPC
native renderer that is updated once and awhile. :)
Cinema4D runs perfect though and has a snappy interface.

I am alternating between LightWave and Cinema4D for now.
Cinema4D is nice, but lacking important features in some
areas. Blender will be a real breath of fresh air for 3D
artists.

I Wish to see it on OS4 too! Blender is a very good app! (2 megabytes executable, runs without installing on Linux systems!!!!)
Now we need only a G5 Pegasos or AmigaOne! :-)

Just let me say 2 things:
Blender gui sucks bug time
Cinema 4D 8 ported would be better anytime anyday, and would give Pegasos/Amiga a much professional look, then somekind of 3D open source program

Obviously you never used Blender. And if you want Cinema 4D on MOS, why don't you license it and start porting today? Stop flaming others for doing terrific work for the platform and - if you think you can ask others to do so - do better .. or shut up.

I totally agree with you, it is a huge task to port this soft !!

And Blender is not only a 3D software it can be used to create games since it manage sounds, scripts, etc....

It is really an amazing software !

Thanks Yomgui !

Obviously I had... That's why I write that...
People don't usually deal well with truth
.
.
.

Despite being good, it is always better then nothing, but I doubt that MorphOS having the same and low productive suits as Linux gives him any advantage over it...

Cinema4D on another matter is a professional product, delivers what is expected from it and delivers fast... that's why it's targueted at... professional market.

If you only want to do hobbie stuff, don't expect your machine to be anything else.

Amiga was a professional machine, if not only because it had NewTek's Video Toaster... Think big and you'll maybe get big, think small and small it's all you may get.

Genesi/Amiga should think what they really need for their OSs, and I doubt anyone of them really needs Blender, although it can't do them no bad... anytime soon Blender will be also for AmigaOS4 so it will be no problem either both will get it, both would get a plain dull 3D program! Yeah... (not)

I'd used and I'm not necessarily thrilled about it, sorry...

I like Lightwave very much and the GUI is very handy after some lerning time. (Even if it looks very non Amiga-standard conformous first)

The ability to run lightwave could be THE reason to buy a pegasos!

(see ftp://de.aminet.net/pub/aminet/pix/mpg/littlejedi.mpg for my biggest work so far ;)

Regarding Lightwave on MOS:
Does the originial version, (e.g. the Dongle) work on a pegasos now? I think it was not supported in the past...

Kind regards selco

IMHO Lightwave had it's time, and now there's a new king in town - Cinema4D! ;) And it's a German company, if you know what I mean... ;)

Genesi and Amiga have nothing to do with porting Blender, or anything else.
It's not the job of any OS company to run around creating every application
for every user. That's why we have developers in the community - which Guillaume
Roguez (yomgui) is.

The only connection is: Guillaume just so happens to be the only person outside
of the MorphOS Core Team that has access to jungl and the developer includes
for it, ONLY because he signed up to MDC (http://mdc.morphos.net) and ASKED.

Of course the circumstances were that he had a good project which had all the
legwork done for him: simply moving the platform-specific API to MorphOS was
going to be based around jungl, and you cannot avoid using it. If he had not
come along and said he wanted to port it, I would have done it personally (I
love using Blender on Windows) so it basically saved me some effort :D

Some things I'd like to point out on this subject...

Blender's GUI is a love/hate thing. Some people swear by it, and obviously the developers felt comfortable with it as it was used in house for some time.

Gameblender is not yet open source. This is due to gameblender using a physics engine that was apparently licensed and paid for by gameblender publisher licensees. However I've heard that the physics engine is about to be open sourced and so gameblender should become viable again. My understanding is that gameblender is just the name for newer versions of blender with the logic and physics functions. I could be wrong about this though.

Art of Illusion is an amazing open source 3D suite written in java, so whenever there's finally a good jvm it would be another exciting option for 3d artists. I seriously recommend taking a look at what this program offers.

And maybe someone could take a look at Wings3D. It's not a full 3d suite, but rather a very usable modeler that would be very nice to have ported.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that according to the manual, blender started out as an unreleased Amiga raytracer.
