The July Edition of the [..] online newsletter for Club Amiga members has been released and is available to club members at http://os.amiga.com/cam. All in all it makes very interesting reading.

Highlights include the latest update on OS4 from Hyperion's Ben Hermans, Fleecy's regular editorial (which is amusing as ever), and the experiences of an AmigaOne XE owner and an AmigaDE developer.

The editorial was an interesting read, though I'm not sure wether it was written by Fleecy or not. However, where's the "amusing" part? Did someone crack a joke?

BTW, you forgot to mention the "Shared Libraries in OS 4" article
by Hans-Jörg Frieden. Definitly an interesting read for those planning to develop for AmigaOS4. =)

Any company what has something interesting/important to say would tell the world without charging for some information, but as Amiga Inc is NOT a professional company they have to screw the users with scams.

Amiga Inc - so the world may know nothing until you pay us $50.

Sigh... When are are you going to realize that Amiga Inc. isn't some kind of charity organization for cheap Amiga users? They are a company offering you a service; buy it if you want it, otherwise just don't. It's as simple as that, really. Stop whining.

Furthermore, the information in the CAM is not in anyway a neccessity for using their product, it's just a bonus for those interested. You see, if you have an interest in their product that goes beyond the scope of using it, then you join the club like all the other AmigaOS fans. Their simply is no reason for why they should be obliged to provide *all* of their customers with this "behind the scenes" information for free.

No, we didn't pay those $50 for just a bloody t-shirt. The t-shirt was just an offer in addition to the primary; the Amiga Club memebership. Yes, they have problems with distribution of those t-shirts, but that's hardly the end of the world nor proof of some kind of evil conspiracy, now is it?

AGAIN, the information in the CAM is not in anyway a neccessity for marketing, selling, using, nor supporting their products. The information is more like reflections on the future from company executives, interviews with developers, presentations of different user groups, etc. In other words; only interesting for their true fans rather than people just wanting to buy their products.

There really is nothing odd about charging a fee for joining a club and getting "behind the scenes" information about a product in addition to the actual product. Stop whining and grow up, will ya?

The original deal was based on the idea of giving their fans the ability to support their cause through purchasing $50 AmigaOS4/AmigaOne rebate coupons. The t-shirt was still only a matter of an additional offer.

Apparently there were legal issues with this so instead they formed the Club Amiga.

No, the information required for developing for AmigaOS4 will be in the AmigaOS4 development kit. The CAM might give you a few hints about how it will work and so forth but nothing actually useful. Like I said; it's like a "behind the scenes" magazine for their fans.

Furthermore, even if it would contain information that would be useful for AmigaOS4 developers, the AmigaOS4 is still not finished and changes in it's features may still occur. Just rest assured that everything anyone would ever want to know about AmigaOS4 for both using it and developing for it will be available once the time is right, ok?

For those who fear that the legal dissolution of Amiga, Inc. plus the replacement of Bill McEwen as CEO will put an end to the Club Amiga (no affiliation with various escort services in Latin America, I am sure), fear not!

Let us turn to the Bible for examples of how the message will persist. The Apostle Paul wrote many letters while in prison, thus keeping the faith for the early Christian Church. Even under extreme duress, Paul was able to keep the various churches enthusiastic, keep them on track with God's will, and he kept the momentum going.

I see no reason why the savior of the Amiga could not do at least as much for his followers, as his fervent commitment to the believers is quite strong. One could even view the $50 as a willful tithing equivalent.

I see strong parallels between the abuse of faithful Amiga users and the millennia of verbal and otherwise abuse of Christians. However, with Bill McEwen, unlike the Saint Paul, I see a change in tactics, broken and empty promises, fraud, non-payment of debts, deceit, manipulation, Clintonesque denials, and a shattered leadership with no ambition beyond the usual self-serving focus of any cult.

You know what Amiga Inc. should do, they should give some company a license to produce T-Shirts with the Boing Ball on it, just the Boing Ball. In the UK (and I'm sure loads of people will back me up here) there are loads of people with Atari, Transformers and loads of other retro logos. That'd generate some revenue.

The $50 that some gullible/unknowing people loaned ainc was to be repayed when buying an "AmigaOne" or AmigaOS4 (for CSPPC Amigas). The marketing material ("CAM", t-shirts) and the corporate fanclub memberships are merely "interest" on these loans (there initially was a raffle included in the "interest" as well, with utterly unrealistic prizes and prerequisites, but that was illegal).

Has anybody who bought a Teron through Eyetech gotten his $50 back yet (from ainc, as Eyetech/dealers won't honor ainc's silly promises)? After all, Eyetech has been selling Terons under the "AmigaOne" trademark for quite some time by now, and ainc has repeatedly referred to the current availability and sales of "AmigaOnes".

Samface, do me a favor here and answer the following questions:

1) Was the $50 deal a ticket to membership to the Amiga Club from day one or not?

2) Have Amiga Inc failed to deliver T-shirts to all the members of the Amiga Club as promised or not?

3) Do you still expect Amiga Inc. to deliver anything of what they have announced/promised? Personally, I find it very hard to believe, as they have proven over the years that they are dangerously incompetent or a bunch of evil criminals taking advantage of a sorry 'community'. Really, if I wasn't happy with what Amiga is offering me for my $50 I'd say so.
Since OS4 isn't here yet, I have had no reason to be worried about having it refunded. If I don't get my $50 AFTER all the items are on sale and I've bought them THATS when I'd start complaining and THATS when I'd even appreciate anonymous trolls to speak for me, thank you very much.

Ah yes, a holy ascension would be rather fitting. That is the promise isn't it? The Ascension of the Amiga into a healthy, stable marketplace, the life after death, that's what we all want, isn't it?

To quote the prophet Isaiah: "we shall rise up on the wings of eagles!"

Christ was in the tomb for 3 days. The Amiga has been entombed since about 1994, give or take. The believers did not have to wait long to receive their promise. I would therefore argue that the closest Amiga followers have a greater belief in the ultimate return of the Amiga than the untold millions of nominal Christians believe in their own salvation.

It is argued that one with faith as small as a surface-mount resistor can move mountains, however, faith without works is empty and meaningless.

The true fault of Amiga worship is just that. No leader has arisen amongst your ranks to bring the Amiga to the forefront. You are like the Church in Sardis: you claim life, but are in fact quite dead in spirit. If you do nothing, you will not see the promise of the ascension of the Amiga.

The works of man are soiled by his imperfection, especially so with computers. I look upon the classic Amiga as a least-soiled system for its day, long gone.
The error of MacOS: foolishness
The error of Linux: excess dogma
The error of Windows: plurality, gluttony
The error of Amiga: dead or dying in spirit

Yes and yes, but CAM is not only about OS4 but the whole platform (AmigaOne,
OS4, DE, developers, dealers, users).

> New SW is needed like nothing else, to make OS4 a succes, or what ?

Which is true for every single OS except Windows and maybe MacOS. Even MOS..

"I've got a surprise for you"(c). Up to now every article containing details
about inner workings of OS4 has been released to the public. Just one month
late, although that may not fit to _your_ definition of AWASAP.. So no, there
is no way that AInc. is doing this wrong.., is it (paying members get
information beforehand) ? ;-)

OTOH if you don't read anything written by Fleecy or Ben Hermans to not get
under their voodoo or are not interested in anything AmigaDE (actually
developers liking to code for and envisinoing future potential, strange.. ;-/ )
or reports from dealers, users, usergroups. then CAM is not for you,

Just to get things straight.

Yup, they demand $50 to get their newsletter with superduper secret, do not share this with anyone, dribble. Who would pay $50 for this club? Guess a sucker would, but not too many others would bother in a morally bankrupted, if not financially bankrupted company.

> 1. It was an *offer*, do you know what that means? No, it doesn't mean that

Why do they demand it be kept with club members only? That is not a hidden demand for $50 for their pearls of cra^H^Hwisdom?

I was being nice. Supporting a morally bankrupt company that may have broken state and federals laws should be labeled something far worse. "Suckers" is as mild of a label that I can think of for them.

So what are you doing to save Bill's house from being foreclosed on? I know, sell some T-Shirts for $50!

Samface.. You're so full of bs.

First of all, any other company in business uses PRODUCT INFORMATION to inform potential customers of their product's features. It's not about a "neccessity for using their product."

Companies don't go around saying things like "Well, our video cards do 2D and 3D. If you're interested in the product beyond the scope of using it, give us $50 and we'll inform you of additional features each month along with filler material."

The less information you give a market, the fewer buyers you have. Simple. What makes this market so different is Amiga Inc. knows damned well that this community is so hard up to make the OS succeed that they're willing to do just about anything to see this accomplished.

Case in point is the current price of admission in to the "club." $50 for a year. For less than that, I can purchase a years subscription to a magazine that covers the console of my choice. That's material in PRINT with a CD.

And stop saying "WE" in regards to the shirts. I damned well do remember people saying they paid for the coupon specifically for that shirt. They wanted to wear it and show their support of the Amiga. Of course, these people no longer exist. At some point, they were replaced by people who didn't expect anything at all and would gladly "donate" again if it helped out the Amiga.

Do you realise how sad all this makes the community look to an outsider?
