The July Edition of the [..] online newsletter for Club Amiga members has been released and is available to club members at http://os.amiga.com/cam. All in all it makes very interesting reading.

Highlights include the latest update on OS4 from Hyperion's Ben Hermans, Fleecy's regular editorial (which is amusing as ever), and the experiences of an AmigaOne XE owner and an AmigaDE developer.

> You all think MorphOS and Pegasos is better than OS4 and AmigaONE so why not

It's hard not to be better then vaporware. Pegasos is better then AmigaOne? Dunno, never saw the final cerberus results of the two. AmigaOne is better then Peg2 because Peg2 is vaporware. OS4, well, it's a good laugh for those of us who don't care about it since it's what, over a year late in release and it's still not native PPC yet and no real date of release? That is pretty damn funny.

> carry on enjoying your OS and doing productive stuff than bringing up Amiga
> Inc's obvious short comings time and time again? I mean if OS4 is so inferior > then you've got nothing to worry about, right?

Perhaps if the Amiga Inc fanboys would STFU about any fart's from Fleecy and wait till there was something real to post about, they may not get such a negative response from folks like me. Blatant PR gimmicks like post about each new newsletter is going to get flamed. Guess any PR other then Rich's auction of stuff he bought from their landlord's auction of Amiga Inc's office gear is good PR, huh?

To be back on the subject.
The article on dos.library is well written and informative.

The sad thing about it is that there is a lot of "reinvent the wheel" or "reinvent the code".
I have asked about BCPL existance in dos library years ago to someone at H&P who had access to the OS3.1 source code and it told be that every BCPL cde was removed.
The AROS team also had to recode a dos.library from scratch.

While it is nice to have different implementations of the same thing it is sad to see so much effort wasted recreating the wheel again and again.
Let's hope that the different dos.library implementations will stay compatible.

This thread is hillarious. Every month when the newsletter comes out the same messages about t-shirts, etc. I don't care if people didn't get a t-shirt, especially if they don't care; what kind of morons go on and on about the same things over and over. After five months of similar posts it continues. I don't have access to the newsletter and, if you're like me, you have nothing to say regarding this news topic. All around the world there are subscription magazines. N.A. fin.

Funny, and this just shows how important and in-mind fleecy and Amiga is to that "crowd."

I'm also happy to see someone has put their fantastic "talent" to use and made a complex (sic) eggbot trigger. Come over to one of our channels and you'll find quite the lack of talk about the "other company" or its products and the bots do little more than make sure the channel is alive and not being taken over.

So, who feels threatened here? Cetainly not the guys who lack lame name triggers in a channel where the target (in this case "fleecy," according to the troll to which I'm replying and his associate trolls) is not even present. LOL!

Really pathetic..

In reply to Comment 63 (Anonymous):
You're being VERY silly. First of all, there is no SDK for AmigaOS 4 in the public, yet. When that time comes, either amiga or Hyperion (or both together) will make sure as much information as possible because available to ALL developers.

As far as I know, a compiler/linker (gcc) will be included with AmigaOS4 (Ben will correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure). I doubt it will be an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) as I'm sure that will be an add-on product to be available separately at some point.

The difference here is with AmigaDE/Amiga-Anywhere. Amiga cannot give away the SDK because we need to pay licensing fees. If and when Amiga *can* give it away, we will.

As for Club Amiga Magazine, all relevant AmigaOS4 articles are released to the public a month or two behind the publishing date of the respective CAM issue in which it is published.

Club Amiga members also get some (non-vital) information and historical articles that the general public doesn't see. This is to be expected. If you don't like it, join. If you don't want to join, your loss.

Those still whining about it are those who aren't aware of how to contact us and haven't e-mailed us to ask about their merchandise (those which we will continue to try and contact to help and work with) or those who have another agenda (those vultures waiting for some fantasy death of Amiga Inc to further their own cause).

The AmigaOne Earlybirds has nothing to do with Amiga Inc. and their Club Amiga offer, it was an initiative solely on the behalf of Eyetech. As far as Amiga Inc. is concerned, it is not an AmigaOne system until it runs AmigaOS4, hence the name "Earlybird". The Club Amiga offer was for the final official release of the AmigaOne as well as AmigaOS4, not some "Earlybird" AmigaOne nor any form of beta release of AmigaOS4 (if such version would be released).

The rebates will be given out as soon as the products are available. If you're not happy with these terms, I'm sure it's only a matter of asking Amiga Inc. to cancel your Club Amiga membership.

It's a situation easy enough to solve. All Amiga Inc need to do is print up the shirts and send them. *POOF* Problem resolved. They were supposedly close to correcting this problem six months ago.. yet the problem persists. Does anyone honestly think that Amiga Inc is going to be able to honor all the coupons out there if they can't even do this?

I should also note that being a part of the Amiga community does not require membership in a club. Being a member of this community and being a proud Amigan, I have every right to be concerned when a company that's supposedly the hub of the community has so many problems as they do.

I'm not one of the people who think that removing Amiga Inc is the only way to solve the problems of the community. I think another way would for them to start being honest and give people straight answers. Being on the level would not only help issues with trust but also stop giving people fuel to add to the fire.. I don't think that's asking for too much.

Now, rewind and consider why things like this (URL below) would classify as marketing rather than an in-depth article which would only interest a true AmigaOS fan:

http://os.amiga.com/cam/index.php?i=5&p=4

That kind of information is hardly something Microsoft nor any of their developers would tell you, now is it?

But you never troll right? And what makes you think the guy commenting about !fleecy is a regular at #morphos? If you applied a little logic maybe you would come to the same conclusion as everyone else, that this guy either has just popped by once (maybe twice), or has read the same logs someone seems to have been gathering for Ben Hermans (and who knows who else), because anyone who's actually a regular would perhaps mention this in the channel, don't you think?

Incidentally there are other triggers too, for prominent figures in #morphos as well, all for entertainment, nothing sinister about it at all, but I guess some people just lack humour...

Also how come you still have not gotten over being asked to leave the channel? If it was such a heart-breaking experience, why didn't you say so when you were asked instead of spreading false rumours about you being kick-banned and whatnot. :P

1) Was the $50 deal a ticket to membership to the Amiga Club from day one or not?

2) Have Amiga Inc failed to deliver T-shirts to all the members of the Amiga Club as promised or not?

3) Do you still expect Amiga Inc. to deliver anything of what they have announced/promised? Personally, I find it very hard to believe, as they have proven over the years that they are dangerously incompetent or a bunch of evil criminals taking advantage of a sorry 'community'. I rather suspect the reason he refuses to answer is because to answer it either calls Eyetech liars, or else exposes the AInc coupon scam to be exactly that - a scam.

So which is it Spamface? Are Eyetech liars and the AmigaOne hass never existed, or are AInc and their coupon scam the liars as they have refused to honour the $50 discount on teh amigaOne (remember, AmigaOne OR AOS4 purchase would get a $50 refund, according to the coupon scam offering).
