Hi!

One of the triangle things with the half circles on the sides is very good. Three parts, etc.

On the far side...

That is my idea, you see the logo and you can identify it how Amiga, But really it isn´t amiga. Using the box with red and white squares as opposite the boing ball. Box is the opposite to the Sphere but with the same look, do you cath the idea? ;) .

I laid my vote for Pixel Art — Contribution A [ID: PAA]

It's such a nice graphic work. Really love it, althought Pixel Design Studio — Contribution A [ID: PDSA] looks more like an "OS logotype", so the decission was rather hard to make.

Yes, I got the idea and that's why I like it. However, I still believe it *might* be too similar. You see, regardless if the symbolic meaning of your logo would be in direct opposition to the original logo, they can still accuse you of making use of their logo recognition.

Don't get me wrong, I do like it. I'm just waving that "please be cautious" flag. =)

How many variations of the penguin....

Considering the main mode of distribution of AROS will be burn your own CD, regular size, mini, and business card....

you can label it anyway you want....

The different logos show a sample of different ideas people have.

Most nerds do. I rather like the idea of a high-density (close to spheroid) checkered buckysphere; the hint of sharp edges would suggest the 'rough-edged' development nature, while the elegance of the fit would suggest the design goals of AROS. The cube take is in a similar vein, obviously, and I rather like that as well. [Anyone rendering my suggestion would have to do the math necessary to ensure proper checkering *could* be applied... ;)]

Pixel Art's logotype seems the smoothest of the votable possibilities, but none of these seem to bring much to the table. Lots of nice scene/graffiti-scripts, but a million other projects (V2 OS?) have beaten AROS to the punch with that imagery... and in Pixel Art's case, the limited curves of the 's' don't quite jibe with the full round of the 'a.' (Were I more of a typography nut, I might know the proper terms for such.. As it is, I'd suggest making the vertical of the 's' more of a softened-reversed 'z,' if that makes any sense... it'd fit well with Kitty's design.)

On a barely-related note, I had a chance to flip through Fuller's _Critical_Path_ the other day; mindblowing. Gotta love Bucky, even if you should take his details with a grain of salt - highly recommended for anyone with an interest in technology, socioeconomics, and/or 'design.'

Why? do probably ask! because AROS in Spanish means hoops and since AMIGA is also a Spanish word the analogy is patent with the logo with thw circles

And wondered if it is possible to modify it so to rotate the buckyball so to include all of the AROS logos, or to do something similiar. rotate the buckyball to see the different logos.

The problem I have is that I like all of the entries and can't help but realize how, in their differences, they represent such a variety of creativity and perspectives, yet all focused on a common goal. I suppose my liking them all has something to do with having art classes all thru school and appriciating the works of others and the variety they represent. And apparently I'm not the only one having difficulty picking just one (regardless of the fact I like mine too, even though it's really little in the way of original.)

Clearly the Buckyball is not anything original. The font used was just the one that first came up in the toaster/lightwave and the color something that went along with kitty, which shows up a bit different then what I thought I did thru lightwave on the Amiga - out to TV (the aros on her leg is also fitting of sportswear). I suppose the only thing that might be "official" would be the angle, done so to hint towards a rolling right, and on an animated thing like the above link, it'd only be a starting point.

The only odd things to deal with is depending on browser, the image may be distorted, not so round. Ibrowse shows an oblong ball, but even that might be reflective of the flexability of a colliding or bouncing buckyball as is seen here http://www.sevenravens.com/landsailing/bucky.html

Another problem I ran into was the mapping of Kitty, where repeat of parts of her were showing up on some of the edges of her space. Easily edited out.

It even crossed my mind that the specific logos having different versions might change that spot on the animated ball, like the fortune telling 8 ball, where when you or the animation moves that spot out of view and back in, it would be a random pick of the variations of that specific logo. And the logo with the circular saw blade like edge around the "O" might have the other .... blade cut in when its space is flat forward in view (or close enough - nobody is perfect.)

What a ridiculous waste of time, no wonder this AROS project has been "in progress" for 10 years and still without a viable OS to show. Don't you have anything better to do than to waste your own time and that of the Amiga community? Please get on with the job and quit f*cking us all around. Why not do some work on the AROS code instead, or better yet code some applications for OS3.9 or 4.0 if you want to help the community??

At this rate AROS will be done by about 2010, by which time there will be AmigaOS 6.x or whatever and your efforts will have been wasted anyway.

What an astonishing waste of time and effort.

The Logotype competition is not a waste of time... do you think that any of the active AROS devs made any logos? oh, I'll answer that... no. It was the non coding member of the Amiga community who made these fine and rather fun logos. AROS is about letting anyone get involved, not every one can or wants to write hours of "boring computer code", some people are better at thinking up logos, and guess what, there are quite a few people who wanted to and did!!!


I think we should congratualte these people on their hard word, and they should know that even if their personal design isn't chosen, it is at the very least appreciated and will enter the AROS history books for prosterity.

I liked the second Sybex — Contribution A [ID: SA], the one with the cat.

KEEP THE CAT!

But Pixel Design Studio — Contribution A [ID: PDSA] logo was clear and easy to read.

Same with Brecht "Darklite" Machiels — Contribution A [ID: BMA]

I hate trying to decode stuff. I didn't vote. Nothing jumped out at me.

I liked the PDSA logo, which was quite clean. The PAA one was nice too, but I would have liked to see a larger version of it (the same goes for some of the other logos that were too small to be chosen).

You are right. This is the explanation of the logo I gave to Adam Chodorowski:
