AmiWest banquet speakers have been confirmed. Past years we have seen Amiga Inc. representatives, but this time a panel of community notables will speak: Bill Buck of Genesi, Kurt Grach of Mr. Hardware, Jens Schoenfeld of Individual Computers and Kermit Woodall of ImageFX fame will moderate. One other participant remains, who will participate if the airplane lands in time.

Well, we had fun here tonight...

From the looks of it Ben will be after us soon!

Oh my!

It is time to turn in for the night.

Best wishes Ben and sweet dreams!

>Ah, thats right - those wonderful Belgian Holidays. Or as seen from a foreigner living in >Belgium the three months in the middle of the year where absolutly nothing gets >done.....man I'm glad I don't live there anymore

This only applies to the judiciary, not economic life in general.

I have a hard time believing you actually lived there and if you did, you probably lived in the French speaking part of Belgium.

They are prone to strikes just like their neighbours to the west.

Ben Hermans says:

> There is nothing wrong with being a clerk. On the other hand I'm not a
> legal clerk. There are no private sector legal clerks in the Belgian
> judiciary system. This is a typical American construct Bill picked up,
> probably when watching Alley Mcbeal.

Funny! Heh, I really like that. Okay, I will suggest to my friend Bill Buck
that he not refer to you as a legal clerk, but rather use some other wording
like "software publisher." In this case though, Bill can't be faulted because
it was the anonymous coward who dredged up that particular non-issue.

Yes - I did live and work in Belgium for a year. Working in Brussels and living in Kortenberg. (Ya hoor, ik heb een jaartje en Belgie gewoond!)

I find it really insulting that you don't believe me - I think you'll find that from the perspective of a foreigner living in Belgium (and Europe in General) that getting anything done during the summer holiday period is fairly difficult.

LOL!!

Why don't you crawl back under that rock you piece of slime.

Well if he is coming in from France (where the Coneheads used to live) I guess he might have eaten escargot? Maybe from a rock and maybe slimey - but quite good with drawn butter and the proper seasoning.

Kind of like eating - well - you should get the idea.

And if there is a Pegosos at Amiwest - I guess you'll have to eat - well maybe a plate of escargot! I'll buy just to film and see you eat it.

Matter of fact the best escargot I've eaten was at the French Pavilion at Disneyland, FL in their French restaurant.

Better than was it Chasen's or the Beverly Hills hotel and/or the German restaurant that serves Venison in lower Manhatten. Can't rember the name....

Comments 31 and on show why we should all just pack up and go home.

If anyone feels this is on the levels of borderline tolerability, see what kind of language is used in this thread, a "lets take it to another site" thread:

You guys really have to be out of arguments if all you can do is make silly little 14 year old boy noises at someone as a replacement for rational discourse.

Well.. after all that 'well balanced and impartial information' I've seen coming from Hermans and his workers during these years... Somehow I don't think that kinda 'sue-em' mentality would be too advisable, it'll may well bouce back and hurt badly.

The difficulty with revealing mem-test results for both platforms is getting the exact same test done by the two machines. However, I've got some pretty interesting results so far, just a few more days to make them fully verified...

"Tell you what Bill: come September (*) I'll serve Thendic France in the Brussels commercial court. The writ will have my name on it. Maybe that will convince you."

Well it certainly wouldn't convince me. In fact the clumsy way you've used / confused legal terms in that rant makes me more certain than ever that you're not actively practicising, if you were ever in fact licensed.

Who's the plaintiff supposed to be in this complaint? You yourself? Hyperion? The man who represents himself has a fool for a client you know (and in jurisdictions I'm familiar with is required to identify himself as "pro se" so that the court knows to treat him gently).

If you want to 'prove' that you've a license to practise law (and I don't know why you'd be so uncomfortable about it if you have) then you need evidence, not lawsuits. Something more like

http://www.ndcourts.com/Court/Lawyers/05507.htm

... or are you going to argue like some crazy Texan drunk driver "I don't need a license, and neither should anyone. I'm a free man" ?

To mr Hermans: Please, if you're not a legal clerk, then what exactly
are you? If you're a lawyer, I think in most countries (certainly here
in Sweden) you need a license for that, not just a degree. If you have
that, maybe you should tell us. If not.. well, nothing strange about
that (since you don't *appear* to work as a lawyer anyway, why
should you!), but of course we won't call you a lawyer if you're not.
So what are you?

Also, I think you could do well to clarify: Do you mean September,
2003? Because, we've seen these September threats before you know, and
I think it would be nice if we could be 100% sure which one you're
talking about.

Rest assured that I never make any empty promises.

You are free to inquire with the head of the Genesi games development.

He can fill you in on that.

IMHO:

A persons profession doesn't always dictate their abilities as a software programmer. Just because someone doesn't have a degree or a degree in computers of some sort, doesn't mean they cannot create quality products accepted and purchased by consumers.

I'll hang onto my money until I see something viable from Genesi or Amiga/Hyperion/Eyetech.

Does those promises also include all the games you said were going to be ported?

In reply to Comment 64 (dammy):
Here's some more promises made in a 19th November statement signed by Ben, Bill, and Alan:

"...Amiga Inc, Eyetech and Hyperion have decided that we will concentrate on four official large scale multi-format shows around the globe, in order to maximize our presence, message and exposure. This will compromise a show roughly every quarter, one for Europe, one for the US and Canada, one for the UK and one for the Antipodes (Australia, New Zealand and Asia).

The first of these shows will be the official launch of the AmigaOne and AmigaOS4.0, to occur at the CeBit show in Germany in March (and before anyone asks, this does not mean this is the release date for AmigaOS4.0, it means that CeBit will be the public launch of it)... Commitments have already been given to attend the SINTEP show in Toulouse, France in April 2003, and at least one of the Micromart shows in Birmingham, UK."

I don't think they made any of those, so that is a lot of broken promises right there, and Ben's name was right there with good old Bill McEwen, and Alan "early next year at the latest" Redhouse. Check it out before someone (Ray?) yanks it down as occurred with "On Schedule and Rockin'."

http://www.amiga.com/corporate/111902-exposure.shtml

I'm sure there is much more out there where Ben says stuff that never happens, so I imagine that will be the case with this serving of a writ. I guess that means lawsuit but who know maybe it means he'll fork over lottery winnings or seek child support. Or fail to do so rather, it's just more talk from the promises gang.

I'll say one thing, if this was intended as a FUD attack on the eve of Amiwest, Ben blew it. BBRV razzed him, he lost his cool, and shot off early. And to me that is what it looks like. Point Genesi.

ohhhh well thats a new one on me! maybe you 'personally' never have but you as an entity (entity bieng amiga.inc thrown in your little fiasco) have told some pretty long ones.

'on schedule and rockin' 't-shirts' and of course 'extremetech.com professed OS4 release date' all come to mind...

none of that would matter exacept your speaking for your entity/fellowship/whatever and all told amiga.inc has told enough tall tales for all of you!.
