Wayne Hunt steps down as Amiga.org Webmaster : Comment 1 of 42ANN.lu

I'm sorry to see Wayne go, because he was one of the communities colorful
personalities that added a lot to the community.

I made the argument over at amiga.org....that you can debate over anything, you can debate over whether the moon is made of green cheese or of stone.

Centrists have such an incredible need to find middle ground that they will conclude the moon is half made of green cheese and half made of stone. Unfortunately, the centrist conclusions are not only almost always completely wrong....its worse, they are usually tragically wrong.

Wayne wasn't in one camp or the other, but neither was he some milquetoast centrist girly man....if he didn't see green cheese, then he just called them like he saw them. Much to the dismay and horror of some...and to the delight of most.

I will miss him, and I know it will be hard for the next person to step into that role.

Just about time, although I doubt he will really step down, he announced that way too many times before. He's too full of himself to not wanting to be at the center of the attention.

I'm very sorry to see Wayne go. Hi even-handed, unbiased approach to running Amiga.org has been a benchmark by which other Amiga sites will be judged. I'm sure the whole Amiga community will join me in wishing him well in whatever he decides to do in the future.

I agree with that. Wayne has done a very good job in setting up and running amiga.org.

I think he has strong opinions but manages to be unbiassed in his running of the site. It seems he will still be posting, so we will see the opinions. Let's hope the moderators continue the lack of bias.

Amiga.org is about as unbiased as a site can be. Wayne, on the other hand, has his own opinions, just like everyone else. That certainly hasn't affected the site over the years, nor have his opinions kept it from being one of the best Amiga-related sites left these days.

Agreed. Amiga.org is good, even though not spewing hatred towards Amiga Inc in every second sentence is kinda being frowned upon. Personally, I choose NOT to repeat my opinion more than strictly necessary, because I know that if I hear someones opinion too many times I will start to ignore it.

Wayne: Chill out, relax and have a couple of beers. Then find out what you want to work _for_. We know what you want to work _against_, you don't have to beat us over the head with it all the time ;-)

But remember when you have those couple of beers in the chilled-out and relaxed state of mind: Enjoy the beer.

Ok? :-)

Overall I believe Wayne has done a great job on AO over the years. When the AWD ceased, AO was a great alternative for Amigans to turn to. Regarding to biases, everyone is biased to some or greater extend and IMO the people claiming not to be so are mostly by far the worst cases!

Thanks alot Wayne, regardless of our various past difficulties. :-)

I have never seen him unfairly comment against Hyperion, Eyetech, Genesi, MOS or AROS... so how can anyone call him unfair?

It's a shame that Wayne is stepping aside. I used to think he was too pro-Amiga
Inc, however in the past year or so, his opinions seem to have shifted to a
more realistic point of view.

Unfortunately, there are some other AO moderators who don't hold such
balanced views, one in particular who I have particular disdain for, so let's
hope Wayne stepping aside doesn't leave these others to move AO to a
ridiculously pro-Amiga Inc position.

I think A.O will be in good hands... I have no worries of that. I don't expect sudden changes in politics or bias.

And when I said Wayne is biased, it doesn't mean Amiga.org is. Hell, I am biased aswell.. pretty much all people are biased somehow. In Wayne's case, bias is very well justified.

People call Wayne Biassed and Opinionated, that's not true. He hasa very balanced view on all the companies trying hard to keep the Amiga alive. His oviews agains a certain comany are based on what we can all see.

While no one is perfect myself included, I think every single active AO moderator is top shelf. You are entitled to your opinion, but i am entitled to think it is baloney;-)

Hey... I think the fact that people who have argued with Wayne are wishing him the best shows the level of respect he has in the community.

End of the day, if folks actually slowly read peoples arguments rather than jump in, then they would agree many of his arguments have been thought through and are backed up with fact.

Lets hope we can get the likes of Wayne, and some of the other guys who like to argue out their opinions to write a few columns, or even get them together next week at AmiWest for a big interview/debate and get some good old fun vibes going again (and those arguments transcribed, or recorded!).

Right, all the best from Scotland Wayne - cheers!

Most have concerns about some bias regarding Amiga Inc.

However, Wayne changed with me, just with a much more moderate amplitude. When Amiga Inc was shiny and new, and was trusted he was their nr1 cheerleader, as Amiga Inc lost the trust and showed it's inability, Wayne changed attitude accordingly - trusted them less, and displayed their inability, instead of making smoke screens.

Blaming Wayne for that... Well, I can't do that, being here the whole time and following the "ride".

So it's not Wayne who has changed. It was reality, which forms us as well to some degree. IMHO

"Wayne may appear to be Biased and opinionated, but as far as I'm concerned, he has only ever stated facts and tried to get to the truth. Which happens, frankly, to be what I want."

You mean the truth that when Wayne was seeking employment with Amiga and his web site was hosted free on Amiga, he took a pro-Amiga stance publicly. And then suddenly switched horses and his stance went pro-Genesi? Yes, I am GLAD the "truth" is finally out too. Now people can see whose loyalty is for sale.

"I have never seen him unfairly comment against Hyperion, Eyetech, Genesi, MOS or AROS... so how can anyone call him unfair?"

Then you missed his jumping on the Rich Woods bandwagon and leaping to WRONG conclusions publicly about me right here on Ann? More of his "unbiased and fair" comments and opinions? I think not! Now, at least, I know why he did what he did to me. I'm sure it helped bolster his pre-interview position with Genesi. Money talks and all that.
