Hmm

ok. I see some rare A500 CD drives, portable C64.. hmm never seen those before on an Amiga show!!! .. ok just kidding.

Hey I got an idea!! why not get all Amiga models from A500 to A4000 T and have them on the show so everyone can play with them..
lol the tried and true formula almost every Amiga show has tried since 1998..

AFAIK they did. But OTOH, that was before they were built and tested, wasn't it?

Perhaps there will be two models, one with the low power 1.0 Volt version of the 1GHz CPU (<10 Watt), and one with the regular 1.3 GHz version? (/me is hoping) ;-)

The heatsink looks very thin BTW. If one replaces that with a thicker one, perhaps then the fan is not needed?

Ah, well. The G3 is actually quite enough anyway ...
:-)

Like what? I think I saw linux in one shot, and some sort of PDA thing on a table which may have had Planet Zed on it?

The lower power 7447 (and 7457 for that matter) is not yet in existance. For now, you have to live with the fan.

My two points:

1. Thumbnails! How hard would it be to use some gallery apps?
2. How about some worth while pics? Even on broadand, those pics are not worth the time to download. :\

On the contrary, I thought they were better than we usually get. Still not sharp enough to show screen details, but that's digital cameras for you.

These pics give a good idea of the atmosphere of setting up before the show.

Although I recognise some people, captions saying who is who would be nice.

How come the 1.4Ghz parts etc weren´t listed before - nevertheless Apple shipped them? So Mac customers bought a phantom? I say Genesi has low power 7447, period.

Special contract between Apple and Mot?

"So Mac customers bought a phantom? I say Genesi has low power 7447, period."

Yeah, Genesi a company that has so far shipped less then 600 boards can get special parts from motorola ... I can just imagine the dialog:

Mot: Hello motorola here
Genesi: We'd like some special non-general consumption CPU parts
Mot: Eh, we only really do that for people like Apple... what sort of numbers are you looking at?
Genesi: around 600
Mot: Hahahaha No seriously how many
Genesi: well about 400 to tell the truth
Mot: Hahahaha, dude you're killing me.. seriously? 20,000, 40,000 how many?

Apple uses "P" rated CPUs which Motorola don't generally sell.

It's a 7447 as far as I'm aware, I don't know if it's the low power version but I doubt it as it most likely costs more.

I don't know why there's a fan on it, maybe they had difficulty getting a bigger heat sink.

You can go to 10W and beyond without a heat sink - a couple of weeks back I seen a fanless Pentium 4!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can we have descriptive texts for these
images - and maybe even a thumbnail gallery? Some pictures
are worth viewing...but when they are, the viewer isnt told
what they are...or who they are looking at...or what that person
is doing. Image straplines are very important.

Hint - Apple overclock the CPUs in their 1.4GHz Macs. Not that this is necessarily a Bad Thing, as Apple's engineers took great care to ensure there was sufficient extra cooling, adjusted the voltages and such like to ensure that the CPUs woudl be fine at 1.4GHz.

No need to be so snide Mr Anon, was there?
