Here are some quotes from the panelists who spoke at the Amiwest banquet this evening. They were Bill Buck, Ben Hermans, moderator Kermit Woodall, Jens Shoenfeld, and Jeri Elsworth. Kermit: This is a great time to be in this community. We are getting new products.

Ben: Thanks for your patience. Thanks for waiting for OS4. There's new hardware just around the corner. 30 people [referring to Mai Logic] are working on the Amiga One hardware. I just came back from Fremont California where I had a meeting with some executives who had just returned from Taiwan. The Amiga One Lite is just around the corner. I'm very excited. There's no reason not to buy your Amiga One now. New things are right around the corner. There is modular work to be done to get OS4 on the Amiga One, things like serial device. These things haven't been done yet but it's not rocket science. Right now we are focused on finishing OS4.

Jens: I would like to talk about the Catweasel. It allows very low level access to a disk. The Catweasel may be able to read degrading, old disks. I am talking tonight about software for a change, the software we use for this. It's graphical, open-sourced, will be released for Windows first. Ports for Linux, MorphOS and Amiga OS should follow. Here's a diagram of low level magnetic flux transmissions.

Jeri: Three years ago I decided to make my own computer. I was fanatical about the C64 as a child. I took an early version of the computer to a C64 convention and the crowd went nuts. Jens assisted me with financial backing for my work and invited me to Germany where I spent 5 or 6 months creating the current board.

Bill: Thanks to SACC for organizing this. Looking at the older members this mornig made me think of the time I programmed my first computer with batch cards. My first language was FORTRAN. Genesi has had some bumps along the way. We recently ordered 200 G4 CPUs. We've had some problems. But we found some solutions. We stood up Morphzone and other websites. Got expessions of interest from outside the community. We need to take advantage of the Linux wave. About MorphOS: Raquel and I figured we've spent $100,000 on licenses. It's good but we realize it's not quite ready for every user yet. We see MorphOS as a trojan horse for the Mac environment. We're running pretty hard after our goals. We need o change the way peoplethink about computers, dispel the megaherz myth, get people thinking more about how much actual work gets done

Sure - at the latest the way BBRV commented Wayne's stepping back from being the webmaster of Amiga.org should have set people thinking. This or Wayne's wording when he spoke about "a different light at the end of the tunnel" which sounded familar after BBRV's latest statement that they'd be following a light. :-)

Quoting BBRV:
-------------

We see MorphOS as a trojan horse for the Mac environment.

-------------
End Quoting

I wonder if the correct translation of that statement is:

We want to enter the Mac based Market.

Then we will develop NetBSD &/or Darwin for Pegasos and we will kick off in the *** all regarding Amiga Legacy, even the name of it!

Because, well... into the Mac Market you (*you* = *any dude*) could make a lot's of money!

Uhmmmmmmmmmmmm... Mumble, mumble...

1. The orginal coupon scam (prior to sCAM), was quiet illegal. If it wasn't for the fact the FFOTNC were the ones who shelled out the monies, normal people would have filed complaints with the appropriate federal law enforcement agencies.

2. You may wish to research on what civil courts can find as fact which does not automatically create a criminal referral. Clinton's perjury was found by a civil court judge as a good hint for you. Then take a look why Bill McEwen has to pay more then what Amiga Inc has to pay Peck. Once you have done that, get back to us. ;-)

Rafaele and Takemehomegrandma: Bill was talking about his not-so-secret plan ;) to introduce some app or game for Mac which would have the ability (the option I hope, we are not talking Morph-virus here ;) ) to put MorphOS on the Mac in some form. Bill used the term "Mac environment" but he no doubt means 'Mac market' too. Now when Ben talked about the Amiga One Lite being "just around the corner" but then asked people to buy an Amiga One right away, he didn't really explain any upgrade program. I think he wanted o leave the impression that the Amiga One would be a supported system with ongoing hardware development.

That was how I understood it. He was saying there will be more Amiga models in years to come. That makes it safer to invest in the platform.

No judgement here. Not a conviction. Innocent until proven guilty, unless you are of a certain religious background and ethnic origin and a non US citizen I believe still holds in the USA yes?

For Pete's sake, I have no problems with Wayne working for Genesi, Good luck to the guy, I wish him all the best. (And yes I do mean that)

I do however have a problem with the apparent lack of Neutrality on Amiga.org, that is all I'm saying. I used to love that site. However it is no wonder AmigaWorld.net has prospered when everywhere you look on A.org you feel like "Nightwatch" will decend upon you any second now. :(

This is how I perceive it at the moment, it's now up to the moderators left on Amiga.org to prove to me otherwise.

I notice that you're a frequent visitor to amigaworld.net.

Since we all now know how important neutrality is to you, is it safe to assume that you consider amigaworld.net to be a bastion of impartiality?

Would you prefer Amiga.org to have "neutrality" imposed on it Mike-B style? (ie modding down or deleting anything remotely negative about AmigaInc, or posting FUD in any thread remotely positive about Pegasos or MorphOS)? Is this how you would like the amiga.org moderators to prove their "neutrality" to you?

Yep, allowing people to speak freely is a real pain in the arse for those who still think "The Name Inc" is worth a dime, few and far between as you may be. Just don't pretend it's impartiality you're after, as you aren't fooling anyone.

Look who's talking the bastion of impartiality himself.

Give me a break, I know full well Amigworld.net is biased towards Amiga and the AmigaOne. (It's hardly rocket science is it?)

I expect a site like Morphosnews to be biased towards Morphos Products

Amiga.org fits in where exactly? All the comments and posts I have seen on there over the last 6 months at times have made me think that it is Amiga in name only.
Most of the Moderators are appear to supprt Genesi's Products or seem to have a hate vendetta against Amiga Inc/it's people/Products etc.

So yes I do feel like Amiga.org has an alterior agenda.
Apparently I'm not the only one since many who feel the same way I do have moved over to amigaworld.net too.

Good luck to Genesi, it's users etc, I just wish we could just stop this altogeter, Pegasos/MOS users go one way. Amiga Users Go another way. And never the twain shall meet.

Indeed. So you admit that you are fine with bias as long as it's in favour of Amiga inc.

Now, doesn't it feel better being honest instead of pretending to be on this bullsh*t "quest for neutrality" :o)

In case you have forgotten, most of the moderators (including Wayne) were past big AInc supporters who realised what a dead loss the company was, and were impressed with Genesi and it's products.

Being the blind, biased man you are, you probably won't read the comments on morphos-news.de like as Wayne is a "Red infiltrator?"

You are speaking about someone, and accusing him being biased who only dared to say the truth when you lot was unable to from the utter bias in your mind.

And note, he resigned (just as Targhan did, not letting his new job bias his moderation. So much for the bias of the amiga.org moderators.
